Bombshell: NY Sun claims Bhutto was shot five times by team of snipers

I’m skeptical, but it’s Friday and Eli Lake’s a respected reporter. What a scoop if it turns out to be true.

American and Pakistani military leaders are seeking to account for what may be renegade commando units from the Pakistani military’s special forces in the wake of the assassination of Pakistan’s opposition leader and former prime minister, Benazir Bhutto.

The attack yesterday at Rawalpindi bore the hallmarks of a sophisticated military operation. At first, Bhutto’s rally was hit by a suicide bomb that turned out to be a decoy. According to press reports and a situation report of the incident relayed to The New York Sun by an American intelligence officer, Bhutto’s armored limousine was shot by multiple snipers whose armor-piercing bullets penetrated the vehicle, hitting the former premier five times in the head, chest, and neck. Two of the snipers then detonated themselves shortly after the shooting, according to the situation report, while being pursued by local police.

A separate attack was thwarted at the local hospital where Bhutto possibly would have been revived had she survived the initial shooting.

We've been reading the "accounts" of what happened to Bhutto. Seems the latest from Musharaf is that she didn't die from gunshot wounds but some sort of "trauma" to the head.

Last night we wrote a piece on a newspaper account from Pakistan, The International News.

This is a big tragedy for the nation, which cannot be explained in words," he said. "I am deeply grieved and condemn it strongly."

"I have always been saying that the Pakistani nation faces the biggest threat from these terrorists," said Musharraf, who announced three days of national mourning.

"Today on this tragic incident, I express a resolve, and I also want the nation to get united and to cooperate, that we will not sit idle unless the terrorists are eliminated," he said. Source - DBKP

Musharaf was quick to condemn "terrorists" for Bhutto's death. In his statement to the media he never named which terrorists were responsible.

Allah also points out some irregularities as to the effects of the bomb blast.

Like I say, I’m skeptical. But even so, have a look at the photos of Bhutto’s skull X-rays and the interior of the back seat of the vehicle. For a car that took a bomb blast at close proximity, it’s in awfully good shape.

Allahpundit is skeptical as are we. But we have good reason to question the "versions" of who was behind Bhutto's murder and how she actually died. Given that the United States sends billions of dollars in "aid" to Pakistan one would hope that the truth of what actually happened to this woman be revealed.
