Newt Gingrich: 2012Presidential Run or 2008 RNC Chairman?

Your Ad Here

Newt Gingrich:
Architect of 1994's Contract with America

Gingrich New GOP Chairman?

Sherri Reese is reporting [Newt Considers a Run for RNC Chairman] that Newt Gingrich "is considering throwing his name in the hat to be the next Chairman for the RNC.'

As Georgia Republican Leadership meet today to plan for the expected run-off of Saxby Chambliss against Jim Martin, my sources tell me Gingrich is having meetings to discuss his own race.

Newt is best known for leading the charge for the Contract with America. It is this famed Contract that has been credited for the Republican take-over of the US House and Senate in 1994. It is also well believed among traditional Republicans that it has been the abandonment of this contract by elected Republicans that has lead to their downfall.

Robert Novak assesses the mood in the Republican Party as "desperate".

"But Republicans are in a desperate mood after the fiasco of John McCain's seemingly safe candidacy."

Writing about talk of a possible Gingrich run for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012, Novak describes Republicans as "chastised".

Republicans seem chastened by the failure of seeking moderate, independent and even Democratic votes. They are ready to try going back to the "old-time religion."

One Republican critic of Gingrich concedes that he has an "unlimited" energy flow and a constant stream of ideas, an important commodity in a party that appears to have run short of ideas during the Bush years. But there is widespread concern about what is described in the party as deep "character flaws" of Gingrich's that would be difficult to overcome in a presidential campaign.

Novak may have hit the nail on the head: Republican Party leaders have reason to feel chastised. Voters who had an inclination to vote for the GOP were given few reasons--outside of Sarah Palin's pick as John McCain's running mate--to feel enthusiastic about a party that, given the chance, fed as voraciously at the public trough as Democrats.

Self-identified Republicans voted in less numbers in 2008 than they did in 2004, though by how much is disputed. Michael Medved thinks it wasn't too many. [DID SIX MILLION REPUBLICANS REALLY STAY HOME?].

The Republicans worked as hard to expand big government under George Bush as Democrats traditionally did. Karl Rove's plan to expand the Republican "base" by enrolling millions in the expensive prescription drug plan--that will eventually be paid for by coming generations--was a travesty.

In many cases, Bush's "compassionate conservatism" was neither compassionate nor conservatism.

Newt Gingrich proposes so many interesting ideas that it's possible to both disagree and agree with him at the same time--depending upon the idea being discussed.

Many will questions Gingrich's decisions at various points in his life, but Gingrich's conservative credentials are unquestioned.

While Newt Gingrich may rightly have some problems with a possible presidential nomination run, a stint at the RNC would be a perfect fit for the former Speaker of the House.

Sarah Palin, GOP: Back in the RIng, Fighting Back

Culture Watch vol. 31
Nancy Morgan
Right Bias.com

The GOP has roared back to life with McCain's nomination of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his VP choice, with the GOP Convention the most watched convention in television history.

ELECTION '08:

Non-stop smears, internet rumors, editorials and commentary make Palin the new punching bag. Surprise - she's punching back, with a smile. Myths are being debunked, and smears are being answered. I expand on this in 'Liberal Meltdown.'

Media is experiencing backlash as over 51% of U.S. voters think the media is trying to harm Sarah Palin. Ya think? Hundreds of angry people in a small town outside Milwaukee taunted reporters and TV crews traveling with Sen. John McCain on Friday, chanting "Be fair!"

Meanwhile, polls show Palin is more popular than both McCain and Obama. Obama can take heart, though. They love him in Iran. Iranian TV is lavishing praise on him, stating that his election "would improve the situation in America." Maybe for Iran.

Lost in the shuffle is new evidence that Obama was closely associated as early as age 25 to a key advisor to a Saudi billionaire who mentored the founding members of the Black Panthers. Hmmm... meanwhile, Obama has received his first intelligence briefing. Why does this worry me?

A whopping 71% of Obama supporters feel the Constitution shouldn't be upheld and VP nominee Biden stated that an Obama administration might just pursue criminal charges against Bush.

For anyone considering voting for Obama, just check out this video clip of him performing without a teleprompter. Truly frightening.

GOOD NEWS:

Exhibiting a firm grasp of the obvious, Obama finally admitted that the surge was successful.

The Commerce Department reports that productivity jumped 4.3%, a full percentage higher than economists expected. During August, the number of people identifying themselves as Republicans increased 2 percentage points to 33.2%.

Gen. David Petraeus said declining violence in Iraq has raised the possibility that American combat troops could start leaving by next summer. Can you spell 'Mission Accomplished?'

In other historic, overlooked news, Condoleeza Rice met with Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi of Libya, sealing the resumption of ties between the U.S. and a country we once branded as a terrorist outcast. Remember Libya? They're the ones that laid down their arms and started acting halfway civilized right after we went into Iraq. Could there be something to this 'peace through strength' stuff?

CULTURE:

The ACLU is continuing their ongoing fight against the Boy Scouts of America. Plans by the University of Chicago to establish a research institute named after free-market economist Milton Friedman are being met with a protest. 100 tenured faculty signed a petition opposing this privately funded tribute to one of the greatest intellectuals of our time. A classic case of being educated beyond ones' intelligence.

Vanity Fair has named Russian strongman Putin as their most influential and powerful person and a new Russian teaching manual claims that mass murderer Stalin acted 'entirely rationally' in executing and imprisoning millions of people. Also in Russia, for the first time in history, over 100 youngsters stand to inherit more than $1 billion from the country's burgeoning ranks of oligarch. Think Paris Hilton times 10. Those figures could change, as capital has been fleeing Russia ever since they invaded Georgia. So far, $19 billion has left the country.

A British couple is on trial in Dubai for having sex on a public beach. I guess they were under the illusion that all cultures are equal. Scientists have found what they call a 'monogamy gene.' Guess what Boy Clinton is getting for Xmas?

A Florida man was busted by police for violating an ordinance against low-slung pants. No cracks, please.

Jenny, the oldest gorilla in captivity dies in Dallas Zoo at age 55
Australia is in the grip of a 'man drought' where women increasingly outnumber men. An elephant at the Ueno Zoo in Tokyo managed to score 87% on a math test. That's better than most students in our government schools. Think about it.

An estimated 123 people were shot and killed in Chicago over the summer. That's nearly double the number of soldiers killed in Iraq during the same period.

Our military halted the Pakistan offensive for Ramadan and Chavez's Citgo will be granted 250,000 barrels of oil from our Strategic Petroleum Reserve because of Venezuela's inability to secure crude in the aftermath of Hurricane Gustav. Is the US a great country, or what!
IDIOT OF THE WEEK:
This week's winner is Michael Lasiter, 33. He tried to cut off his own arm in a Denny's restaurant in California after becoming convinced that he had injected an air bubble into his veins, along with the crack.

Honorable mention has to go to this Code Pink anarchist at the GOP convention. Check him out doing the taser dance.

ON THE LIGHT SIDE:

In order to keep you smiling, I include this cute video of Piper Palin giving brother Trig a spit bath.
In order to keep you energized, I include this video of an 11 year-old girl field stripping an AR-15 in 15-seconds flat. She sent the video to the cutest boy in 6th grade with a note asking "Do you like me?" Priceless.

Ron Paul Fights to Move the GOP to the Right

Just like Ronald Reagan did in the years from 1968 to 1980, Ron Paul's organization is building itself into a force to move the GOP back to the right.

And many of the people contributing to the effort are volunteers who are donating their time and talents to the cause.

A group of independent artists have contributed their talents to a project that rendered Congressman Ron Paul into a 3-D animation. They're hoping that their video project, a 60-second commerial entitled, "The High Tide", is able to be aired before the Pennsylvania primary.
The High Tide is not just about Presidential candidate Ron Paul, but about the idea of returning America back to it's founding principles of freedom and liberty.

A small group of dedicated grassroots artists have created a new 60 second promo/TV ad for Presidential candidate Ron Paul, entitled "The High Tide". The ad combines carefully edited audio from various Ron Paul speeches with high end computer animation, motion graphics, and a moving musical score, into a unique presentation that is reaching new eyes and reinvigorating the dedicated Ron Paul grassroots.

Serving as lead animator, Arcfx's Nathan Evans conceptualized the project and reached out to various grassroots activists, tapping into individual creative talents the Ron Paul Revolution is famous for. Coming in early on, Ron Paul CNN/Youtube ad competition winner Chris Rye (AdamT from RonPaulForums.com) built the audio from famous speeches given at the Robert A. Taft Club and the Ann Arbor, Michigan rally where Ron Paul drew a crowd of over 2000.

IN OTHER RON PAUL NEWS:

Ron Paul's supporters are taking a page from the Barry Goldwater/Ronald Reagan history books: they're continuing to build a grassroots organization to fight for the soul of the Republican Party.

Reagan, first campaigned in 1968 and later in 1978, losing to Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford. But in the process, he assembled the organization that later propelled him to a historic victory against Jimmy Carter in 1980.
Rep. Ron Paul of Texas and his thousands of fervent supporters may be fighting more over the soul of the Republican Party nowadays than they are for the actual presidential nomination, No it's not your eyes It's Republican presidential candidate and House member Ron Paul on a giant TV screen in Killeen Texas a GOP House of Representatives member from Texas who continues to campaign against Sen John McCain. Paul reported his campaign finances March 19, 2008 having raised nearly $35 million with nearly $5.6 million cash on hand and like a good conservative no debts. Seeeing how the congressman is more than 1,000 delegates shy of what he'd need to head the ticket.

With John McCain having already secured the nomination--and having left the country--Paul supporters are actively continuing the campaign for the next election, whether Paul actually runs again or not.
The 72-year-old Paul has plenty of free political time now because no Democrat, not even in Texas, is dumb enough to take him on in the November House election, which will award Paul his 11th term. On March 4, Paul vanquished his main Republican challenger in the 14th District by capturing 70% of the vote. Other than that, it was close.

Paul says he'll continue to take his conservative message of smaller government, more personal freedoms and an end to American troops abroad wherever his followers are strong and loyal, places like Pennsylvania, North Carolina, maybe Idaho. But they're actually all over, even allegedly liberal California, where one branch posed nearly-naked for a Hotties4RonPaul pinup calendar.

Other Paul supporters have chipped in with a music video, while others have contributed the above 3-D animation commercial project.

Ron Paul's organization is doing it the Reagan way: building an organization, one county at a time across the country.

And they're finding plenty of people who feel the two main parties are not listening to them.

As noted here earlier this week, Paul's volunteers are winning GOP influence the old-fashioned way, at the grassroots level county by county, tedious meeting after tedious meeting, largely under the radar of the national media, except The Ticket. Paul's volunteers, many of them new to politics, hope to exert some influence on the platform in St. Paul and go from there, the way the 1964 Goldwater generation of conservatives finally won in 1980 with Ronald Reagan.

What assets do the Ron Paul have in their fight to move the GOP rightwards?
