Sarah Suffers from PSAS: Permanent Sexual Arousal Syndrome

Modern Woman, Modern Problems:
The Orgasmic Woman

The Pitfalls of Permanent Sexual Arousal Syndrome

Once depressed, Sarah is no more apparently. Her mood substantially elevated after the prescription of drugs. That is because Sarah has about 200 orgasms a day.

"Sarah, 24, suffers from Permanent Sexual Arousal Syndrome (PSAS), which increases blood flow to the sex organs.

She said: "Sometimes I have so much sex to try to calm myself down I get bored of it. And men I sleep with don't seem to make as much effort because I climax so easily."

As she chatted, Sarah became increasingly flustered.

"Sorry, you'll have to excuse me for a minute. I'll be with you in a sec," she mumbled before letting out a long sigh.

Sarah, from London, developed PSAS after being prescribed anti-depressants at 19."

...

"She explained: "Anything can set me off. Even the hairdryers cause funny pulsations through my body.

"As a skin care specialist I have to use tools which vibrate a lot of the time for micro-dermabrasion and they sometimes set me off.

"I find if I'm nervous I'm less likely to get over-excited. So sometimes I try to psyche myself up and worry to control my orgasms.

"Some of my regular customers know my problem. But with new clients it's hard to explain.

"I have been in the middle of a treatment and it's happened and I've had to carry on.

"I was doing a bikini wax and you have to really concentrate and keep your hands very still, and mine go a bit wobbly when I orgasm. "

The touchy subject has kept her smiling.

Needless to say, the condition has not proved beneficial to the dating game. The men can't seem to do as well as her imagination, which causes a orgasm every time she thins about sex, which appears to be about 200 times a day according the DBKP mathematicians..

'It has proved to be a problem for Sarah in some relationships.

She said: "I dated one guy who was very selfish and he was that way in the bedroom too. He'd just lie back and expect me to please him.

"He just figured that because I could climax without him even having to touch me, he didn't need to do anything to please me.

"I just thought that was rude and inconsiderate. It didn't last very long with him."

Sarah does not share.

"With me, it was a means of releasing my orgasm, but now I know I don't have to have sex to do that."

Now many might think moaning in public while staring at a movie poster, riding a train, or doing a bikini wax, is a rather uncomfortable way to go through life. And the solution appears simple enough. Since Sarah's condition is caused by a sharp , permanent, increase in blood flow to the genitalia, that the simple thing to do would be to alter the anti-depressant prescription.

Ahh. Not a chance.

"Thanks to her understanding friends and colleagues, Sarah feels like she can now live with PSAS.

""I'm lucky because people around me are very kind and appreciate that sometimes this is a problem for me and it can be embarrassing."'

Sarah said in a high pitched yelp, trying to suppress a smile.

Oh, and certain members of the editorial board her a DBKP have a question.

"Why the hell isn't some drug company working on this? Move on it!"

Suicidal Pets Increasinly Being Given Anti-Depressants

"Bill! No! NO! Put down that gun! Think of your family!"

Pets are at risk of committing suicide and have been increasingly been prescribed anti-depressants BECAUSE they can't discuss problems in their lives with others, a leading veterinarian said.

When we got this story, we'll admit that it was checked out more than once--to make sure it wasn't from The Onion, or some other spoof site.

But it wasn't. It hailed from Down Under: from the Telegraph via News of Australia.
Zoo and wildlife medicine specialist with the UK’s Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, Romain Pizzi, told the Telegraph that more pets were being prescribed Prozac. Tropical birds such as parrots seemed to have been the most affected by depression, Mr Pizzi told the newspaper.

Mr Pizzi said anti-depressants were only used in the most extreme of cases.

But--parrots?

Come on, if any animal can open up and let what's bothering it out to another, wouldn't it be a parrot or macaw or some other tropical bird?
“Firstly, we will change the environment of the animal and make sure it has more stimulation and toys,” Mr Pizzi told the newspaper.

"When we have ruled out underlying medical problems, we try to break the cycle by using Prozac… (which) is given to the parrots in liquid form.

"It doesn't cure all animals, but around two-thirds respond to the treatment. In a small number of cases things will go well until we wean them off Prozac and the problems return."

Mr Pizzi said the severity of some pet’s depression often put their lives at risk.

Kids aren't the only ones who complain, "We're bored!"
"Typically if people go out to work all day their parrot will get very bored and frustrated and eventually develop depression,” he said.

“Symptoms often include plucking out their feathers or self-harming, which is obviously very dangerous.

“When cockatoos in particular are depressed they can start to self-mutilate and peck their own legs to the bone."

Of course, if there's a buck to be made, most company's will be quick to recognize it. Some of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies have picked up on the need for anti-depressants for animals.

Last year, Eli Lilly released a chewable anti-depressant for dogs onto the US market. The “Reconcile” drug was issued in a pleasing beef flavour. Pfizer has also created a diet drug for dogs, as well as motion-sickness medicine for all pets.

There was little written on the licensing requirements to be able to call oneself a "pet shrink".

Sounds like the perfect vocation for some with a quick wit and a love for a quick buck.

Especially if they can get Pooch to put down that pistol and take a pill.

Study: Anti-depressants Don't Work

"Have a nice day" works just as well as Prozac?

The vast majority of patients get little or no good from prescribed anti-depressants, according to researchers.
Almost 50 clinical trials were reviewed by psychologists from the University of Hull who found that new-generation anti-depressants worked no better than a placebo – a dummy pill – for mildly depressed patients.

Even the trials that suggested some clinical benefit for the most severely depressed patients did not produce convincing evidence. Professor Irving Kirsch from the university’s pyschology department said: “The difference in improvement between patients taking placebos and patients taking anti-depressants is not very great.

“This means that depressed people can improve without chemical treatments. Given these results, there seems little reason to prescribe anti-depressant medication to any but the most severely depressed patients.”

Speaking up in defense of anti-depressants was Dr Gary Bell, consultant psychiatrist at Capio Nightingale Hospitals, the provider of private psychiatry treatment, who contested the conclusions of the Hull research.
“Anti-depressants are one of the great breakthroughs in the treatment of depression in last 20 to 30 years,” he said.

“They do not always suit everybody but the results are often life-saving. People who do studies do not have the hands-on experience of using these medicines.”

While we're not sure about the effectiveness of anti-depressants, we do know one thing.

Most studies depress us.
