Willie Nelson, Singer-Songwriter, Icon, Conspiracy Nut

The "news" is being spread far and wide, Willie Nelson, "American Icon" thinks terrorists weren't behind 911.

Those pushing the aging Icon's views are those who benefit from the idiot meme of the big bad government: BushHalliburtonCheneyCo was behind the events of 911. Nevermind that if Bush had that kind of power the elections about to be held would be a mere "facade," that, speaking in whispers, Bush will use the military to announce the elections are suspended and Bush will rule "indefinitely." (Conspiracy 1001.31)

As someone who grew up in Texas during the Willie Nelson "era" I find it amusing to see some call Nelson an "American Icon" and that others find Nelson's thoughts on 911, "fascinating" and "groundbreaking."

Just how does one get the label "American Icon?"

One theory how one becomes an icon is based on time, one has been a celebrity and/or artist, writer, movie star, model, etc., and also been "around for a very long, long time." Like Willie Nelson.

From Wiki:
Willie Hugh Nelson (born April 30, 1933) is an American entertainer and songwriter. He is widely viewed as one of the most beloved and notorious country music singers in the world. He reached his greatest fame during the so-called "outlaw country" movement of the 1970s, but remains iconic, especially in American popular culture. In recent years he has continued to tour, record, and perform, and this, combined with activities in advocacy of cannabis (otherwise known as marijuana) as well as a well-publicized 2006 arrest for cannabis possession, have made him the subject of renewed media attention.
This is a very short bio of Nelson as his career in the music and film industry has spanned decades.

Nelson on the Alex Jones Show

Most Americans have heard of Willie Nelson, the aging crossover country singer, but may not of heard of Alex Jones.

From Fox Business:
Alex Jones is syndicated over the GCN Radio Network and airs on over 80 AM and FM stations across the country. Jones has been called the father of the 9/11 Truth Movement and has produced several films on September 11th and orchestrated terrorism, including, TerrorStorm and End Game. Both of these films reached the top 10 on Amazon's best-selling list for documentary films.
In other words, Jones is on his way to becoming the American TinFoil Hat Icon of Conspiracy Nuts.

Nelson's music has influenced several generations beginning with his early days in the country-western genre. Songs such as I've Got the Time, Georgia On My Mind, Hello Walls, Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain have played in countless honky tonks, especially the "closer" song of all time, The Party's Over.

From the jukebox came Nelson's songs of love, broken hearts and promises of good times. Nelson believes the events that unfolded on 911 could not have been the work of outside terrorists. Nelson has every right to believe what he chooses. It's the Alex Jones of the world, who anoint the Nelsons of the world as "proof" that their conspiracy theories hold water.

You can see the hamster wheels go round in Jones' head. Jones believes Nelson's views on 911 give the whole sordid conspiracy "legs."

We say Nelson may be one of the country's greatest singer-songwriter icons but not someone whose opinion gives Jones conspiracy theory any cachet.

Turn out the lights, Jones.... the party's over.
