Obama Records: Medical, College, Other Records Still Off-Limits

Obama's Missing Records:
Medical, College, University, Birth Certificate and Other Records
Packaging Barack Obama Part 1

"If it's too good to be true then it's probably a scam."

[UPDATE: Obama Birth Certificate Federal Lawsuits
Berg v. Obama lawsuit in Philadelphia federal court is dismissed due to Phillip Berg having lack of standing to sue. Obama birth certificate lawsuit news in the section below.]

The refusal of the Obama campaign to allow the public to see Obama's records just days before the election is somewhat mystifying.

Unless there is something in them that the campaign feels will be damaging to their efforts to win the White House.

The spate of lawsuits popping up in state courts over the Obama birth certificate issue is a side one. Obama supporters can argue that Obama has produced an image on his website of a Certificate of Live Birth.

Fair enough. But Obama supporters can make no case for the candidate's refusal to release his other records. An informed electorate needs information.

That the reason we're more concerned with Obama making his other records off-limits to public scrutiny: medical records, college and univesity records.

Medical Records
Occidental College Records
Columbia University Records
Harvard University Records
Birth Records
University of Chicago Records

Obama's Medical Records?

Barack Obama has refused to release his medical records. Instead, the public will have to make do with an undated letter signed by a doctor which assured the press and the American public that Obama was "in excellent health".

* Obama College, Medical, Birth Records: Who is Barack Obama?
* Obama Medical Records: MSM’s Don’t Ask, Obama’s Don’t Tell Policy
* Obama Records: Obama Campaign Still Refuses to Release Medical, Other Records

As DBKP noted last week, when John McCain delayed releasing his medical records to the press last May, the New York Times thundered to it dwindling readers:

"No presidential candidate should get to the point that he has locked up his party’s nomination without public vetting of his health."
--New York Times, on John McCain in May 4 2008 "Missing Records"

Six months later, the New York Times is predictably silent on the still-secret Obama medical records.

Obama's Occidental College Records?

The only trace of Barack Obama at Occidental College that the public is allowed to see is a few poems that may be ordered on the college's website.

"Transcripts of his poems are available upon request."

Obama's Columbia University Records?

Contributing to the mystery is the fact that nobody knows just how well Mr. Obama, unlike Senator McCain and most other major candidates for the past two elections, performed as a student.

The Obama campaign has refused to release his college transcript, despite an academic career that led him to Harvard Law School and, later, to a lecturing position at the University of Chicago. The shroud surrounding his experience at Columbia contrasts with that of other major party nominees since 2000, all whom have eventually released information about their college performance or seen it leaked to the public.
--Obama's Years at Columbia Are a Mystery

Obama's Harvard University Records?

Sen. Barack Obama’s campaign says his campaign will bring a new level of honesty and transparency to the White House. Obama proudly touts that he and Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla, passed a law requiring more transparency via a public database of all federal spending.

But when it comes to offering the public documents about his own public and private activities, Obama’s record for openness gets an "F" grade.

During the heated Democratic primary, Obama complained of the Bush White House being “one of the most secretive administrations in our history” and chided Sen. Hillary Clinton for not releasing her White House schedules.

Ironically, Obama, just days away from possibly being elected president, continues to stonewall a growing chorus of information requests for documents about his legislative, personal health, education, financing, and background -- leaving many voters to cast ballots based on incomplete information.

--Obama: Most Secretive Democratic Candidate Ever

Obama Birth Certificate

Phillip Berg's lawsuit in federal court to force Obama to provide his birth certificate to a federal judge was dismissed yesterday due to Berg's lack of standing.

The order and memorandum came down at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Philip Berg's lawsuit challenging Illinois Sen. Barack Obama's constitutional eligibility to serve as president of the United States had been dismissed by the Hon. R. Barclay Surrick on grounds that the Philadelphia attorney and former Deputy Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania lacked standing.
--Lawsuit Against Obama Dismissed from Philidelphia Federal Court

Berg's lack of standing was cited by many, including our crack research department, as the reason the Berg v. Obama suit would likely be dismissed.

This lack of standing will not settle the issue in the eight state courts where suits have been brought for the same reason as Berg. Their chances on the standing issue are greater.

Jeff Schreiber, Two Articles: Two Sides of Berg v. Obama, remarks on the same Newsmax article we saw last evening, Obama Refuses to Answer Birth Certificate Lawsuit.

The first piece is by Kenneth Timmerman of Newsmax, the same reporter who, just a few days ago, wrote so well about the questionable $63 million in Barack Obama's campaign coffers. He goes into detail about Obama's birth certificate, even providing a link to the Certificate of Live Birth provided by the Illinois senator, and an official Certificate of Live Birth from a person born just two years later. Reproduction issues aside, one quite obviously provides more information than the other.

Timmerman also raises an interesting point by highlighting a segment from one of Obama's memoirs in which he actually mentions the document:

Ironically, Obama mentions his birth certificate in passing on Page 26 of his 1995 memoir, “Dreams of My Father.” “I discovered this article, folded away among my birth certificate and old vaccination forms, when I was in high school,” he wrote.

As much as I am a skeptic as to all of this business--I've said time and time again that I simply feel as though we are constitutionally obligated to ensure that our leaders are properly vetted--this, to me, presents a question as to why it was necessary for Obama to provide an obviously laser-printed, recent copy of his birth records in the first place. If he had his original, tucked in among articles and old vaccination forms, why not just provide that one?

Timmerman asks a good question.

OUR PREDICTION: It won't be the last time the question is asked before Election Day 2008.

The quote at the top of the page was by New Zealand Consumer Affairs Minister Judith Tizard and was used in New Zealand during 2007 to kick off something called Fraud Awareness Month.

Many readers are likely familiar with the job interview process. The process is simple: The prospective employer is trying to determine if the person he hires will enjoy success with the hiring company.

The company asks for information through an interview, the job application, a resume and the person wanting the job supplies various records--especially college and university records--to the employer to help the company make a decision. If the job is an attractive/important one, the employer will want as much information as possible.

Barack Obama is asking the American people to hire him as President of the United States.

It's a very important job.

If he wants the American people to hire him, he should provide as such basic information that plenty of other candidates have provided in the past: medical records, college records, university records and other records.

The Obama campaign is essentially asking the American people to trust him; to hire him as President.

He can begin earning that trust by providing his records to the press and public.

Michelle Obama Calls African News Organization Over Obama Birth Certificate Reporting

Michelle Obama:
Bloggers Who Question Obama Citizenship "Racists"

Invitation to Inauguration in Exchange for "Good Story"

BREAKING

“It is strange that API [African Press International] has chosen to support the racists against my husband."
--Michelle Obama, telephone conversation with African Press International

DBKP is "Racist" for Asking Questions?
API Editor Calls Phone Call "Shocking"

Though there has been no Mainstream Media report or investigation into Phillip Berg's federal lawsuit, which the Obama campaign has chosen

A mid-size website, African Press International, is reporting that it received a phone call from Michelle Obama yesterday which contained some startling information.

  • Bloggers who question Barack Obama's citizenship or ask questions about it are "racists", according to API.
  • API was offered an invite to an Obama inauguration ceremony "if they write a good story"
  • Obama was adopted by his Indonesian step-father, according to API.

African Press International which describes itself as "A “Daily Online News Channel” established on 30th.September 2006 by Rainbow Foundation (NGO) Reg.no. 976593510 and The Chief Editor who is a Member of Investigative Reporters and Editors".

The API story is titled, "Shocking development: Mrs Obama decides enough is enough: “My husband was born in Hawaii and adopted by his step father, does that make him unpatriotic; she asks”, on a direct telephone to API."

Accusing API of colluding with American internet bloggers in an effort to bring down her husband, Mrs Obama said she decided to call API because of what she termed, API’s help to spread rumours created by American bloggers and other racist media outlets "in their efforts to damage a black man’s name, saying she hopes African Media was mature enough to be in the front to give unwavering support to her husband, a man Africans should identify themselves with."

The API editor was taken aback, it would seem, when Michelle Obama's was
"angered" by API's reporting and told the editor “African press International is supposed to support Africans and African-American view”.

When API told her that our online news media was only relaying what the American Bloggers and other media outlets had discovered through their investigations, Mrs Obama was angered and she came out loud with the following: “African press International is supposed to support Africans and African-American view,” and she went to state that, “it is strange that API has chosen to support the racists against my husband. There is no shame in being adopted by a step father. All dirt has been thrown onto my husband’s face and yet he loves this country. My husband and I know that there is no law that will stop him from becoming the president, just because some American white racists are bringing up the issue of my husband’s adoption by His step father. The important thing here is where my husband’s heart is at the moment. I can tell the American people that My husband loves this country and
"his adoption never changed his love for this country. He was born in Hawaii, yes, and that gives him all the right to be an American citizen even though he was adopted by a foreigner; says Michelle Obama on telefon to API.”

According to the story, it wasn't all anger and admonitions in the phone call.

Michelle Obama offered a "sweetener" if the African news site would get in line behind Barack Obama--an invitation to a possible Obama inauguration ceremony!

Mrs Obama asked API to write a good story about her husband and that will earn API an invitation to the innoguration ceremony when, as she put it , her husband will be installed as the next President of the United States of America next year.

A check of African Press International's archives show articles which are decidedly anti-Obama, but the site reports from across a wide swath of African countries using Africans as citizen-journalists.

If the API site is largely visited by Africans seeking news, the website most likely will see an influx of visits from American Obama supporters in the next few weeks in their comments section.

Any website publishing stories not friendly to the Obama campaign can attest to that phenomena.

It would seem that even if the Obama campaign has so far refused--and the media has so far largely refused to report--the Berg v. Obama lawsuit which asks Barack Obama for proof of citizenship, they are aware very aware of it.

Aware enough to cause Michelle Obama herself to make a phone call.

Which will now likely lead to a denial from the Obama campaign.

Obama Birth Certificate Federal Lawsuit: Video Asks Questions

Your Ad Here

Phillip Berg Video:
Making a Federal Case out of Obama's Birth Certificate

"It makes accessible to the general public some of the serious questions about Obama's citizenship status that have been vetted almost exclusively in the conservative web world. You can't get most voters to focus on print media in order to entertain a series of hard questions on what seems like a far-fetched notion. Especially those voters who rely on the Big Media. They figure that if this were true, they would have heard about it from the old familiar faces."
--Thomas Lifson, American Thinker

Why Has Obama not only released his citizenship records, but his college records?

American Thinker calls it "a game changer".

When we were talking to Phillip Berg on Wednesday, he mentioned that a film crew was coming up to show a video for YouTube and that he was meeting them at 4 pm.

Three days later and that video is out.

ALSO at DBKP:
* Obama Birth Certificate Federal Lawsuit: The Curious Behavior of the Obama Campaign
* Obama Birth Certificate Federal Lawsuit: Updates, News and Reactions

From "This could be the game changer":

A lifelong Democrat who has held political office and been a committeeman, Philip Berg, has brought suit over the real questions raised by the absence of a valid Obama birth certificate. His narrative of the various questions Obama has refused to answer is devastating. Graphics and sound are well-deployed to avoid tedium as factual data is conveyed in a way that allows viewers to absorb it. When he contrasts Obama's behavior when challenged (use perfectly valid legal technicalities to delay) with John McCain's full disclosure of all documentary evidence under a similar challenge (remember the flap over his birth in the Panama Canal Zone? -- who raised those questions, anyway?), there is no doubt in a viewer's mind that there is something seriously wrong here.

We are talking about the Presidency and this guy stonewalls?

The only way Obama can satisfactorily respond is to release his supposed Hawaiian birth certificate. If he has it, why hasn't he released it? If he does release it, game over. So why drag this out on technical grounds? It doesn't make sense.

The John Edwards Scandal

During John Edwards presidential run, after November, not one MSM reporter asked Edwards one single question about his relationship with Rielle Hunter. Even after the National Enquirer caught Edwards in the Beverly Hilton as he left Hunter's room at nearly 3 in the morning, the MSM silence was deafening.

It was not until Edwards confessed that the AP, CBS, Time, Newsweek, New York Times, CNN, ABC, MSNBC, NBC and the rest of Big Media felt they could inform their readers/viewers about the news.

Most of the MSM stories were of the "we didn't tell you, and now we are and here's why" variety. Within those stories were plenty of snide attacks at the few places that did pursue the Edwards story.

The MSM were not nearly in the tank for Edwards then as they are for Barack Obama now.

Obama's records have proved hard to come by and the Mainstream press doesn't investigate, doesn't ask questions, doesn't care.

Records that any American may be called upon to release to an employers--birth records, proof of citizenship, college records--remain hidden from public view just 25 days before the election and the media has not said a word.

We'll ask the same question we did during the Edwards' scandal:

If there's nothing to hide, then why are you hiding it?

Obama Birth Certificate:
UPDATES
Federal Lawsuit, Berg v. Obama - Jeff Schreiber, Phillip Berg, More Questions, Comments from Readers, GOP Holding Out?

In a post as long as yesterday's Obama Birth Cerificate Federal Lawsuit: The Curious Behavior of the Obama Campaign, there's lots of stuff which gets left on the "cutting room floor".

We've collected a bit of it in this morning's UPDATES. Others have covered this for months and have a long list of archived stories. Readers interested in various aspects of the Obama citizenship debate may wish to check them out. They're listed at the end of this post.

Obama Birth Certificate - UPDATE

Follow up to: Obama Birth Cerificate Federal Lawsuit: The Curious Behavior of the Obama Campaign, Oct. 9 2008.

Readers wishing to stay abreast of current happenings in the Obama birth certificate/citizenship case in US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia) would be wise to bookmark Jeff Schreiber's America's Right site.

Schreiber's a legal writer/reporter during the day, but then changes into his blogger's costume at night: he's located near the court and brings a lot of things, not the least which is knowledge of the case, to the table. America's Right was the site which first reported the Berg v. Obama lawsuit in August.

It's also the site where we first discovered a report on the federal suit.

Latest on the suit from America's Right: Berg v. Obama Update - October 9 2008: Berg Files Response to Defense Motion for Protective Order.

Schreiber's been all over this story from the beginning and it shows.

Schreiber's view seems a lot like our own. While he's conservative, he's also skeptical of some claims made in the Berg suit (perjury), but curious about the questions Berg raised.

Questions which have not been answered, to date.

The Obama birth certificate story is a lot like the John Edwards scandal: it's hard to get everything of interest in one post. An attempt was made yesterday to bring readers who had not heard about the case "up to speed".

A trip through Scheiber's archives on the subject, located on the site's right sidebar, will give readers all there is to know about the court case itself.

More from Phillip Berg

In the wrap to yesterday's article here on the Federal Lawsuit in which Phillip Berg is asking Barack Obama to provide proof of U.S. citizenship, we left a few things out.

A couple of items we asked Mr. Berg in our phone conversation didn't make the article. Readers may be interested, so we'll include them here. They include the coverage Berg v. Obama has (not) received in the MSM, among other things.

- - - - - -

MONDO: What has been the reaction of the Mainstream Media to this lawsuit? This sounds like a big story: a presidential candidate has balked at providing proof of citizenship. Have you been contacted by any MSM organizations?

PHILLIP BERG: There's been no reaction because they haven't covered it. There's been some interest, but nothing so far.

MONDO: What were your reasons for filing the lawsuit.

BERG: I filed the suit because I believe the Democratic National Committee hasn't performed its duties. I believe that the Republicans know about this and will bring it up right before the election. There may be time for the DNC to substitute someone on the ballot, but there may not be.

[The phrase "constitutional crisis" was discussed at this point.]

MONDO: You're alone on this. How could someone help you if they wished?

BERG: Get the word out on this. If enough people hear about it, it might create some pressure.

Maybe someone will do some investigating.

Did the GOP Uncover an Obama Birth Certificate in Kenya?

Some good research into several of the citizenship issues were found at What's Your Evidence. The site's only agenda, upon first inspection, appears to be fact checking.

They discount the Indonesian citizenship issue, leave open the place of birth issue and leave open the citizenship issue in its totality.

From What's Your Evidence?, "Was Obama Born in Kenya? Is Obama a Kenyan Citizen?"

"[Madsen reported that the GOP] ... located a Certificate Registering the birth of Barack Obama, Jr. at a Maternity Hospital, to his father, a Kenyan Citizen and his mother, a U.S. Citizen. "

GOP dirty tricks operatives dispatched to Kenya .... believe they have found a "smoking gun." In this case, it is a birth certificate from the Kenyan city of Mombasa registering the birth of Barack Obama, Jr., on August 4, 1961.

However, the registration is a common practice in African countries whose citizens abroad have families with foreign nationals. Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to his Ann Dunham of Wichita, Kansas, and Barack Obama, Sr., of Nyangoma-Kogelo, Kenya.
--Wayne Madsen, "GOP dirty tricks machine readies a charge that Obama is not eligible to be president," OnlineJournal.com (June 8, 2008).

NOTES: We have not yet found evidence to support or refute Madsen's contention that such registration is a common practice.

"[Did the GOP, in fact, locate a Certificate Registering the birth of Barack Obama, Jr. at a Maternity Hospital, to his father, a Kenyan Citizen and his mother, a U.S. Citizen?]"

Although we can find no evidence that the GOP located a Kenya "certificate registering the birth" of Obama (other than Madsen's unsourced assertion), political parties may elect to withhold information until a time they deem politically expedient. Thus, it is possible that the GOP located such information and just has note yet released it. Thus, we do not know whether this statement is true or not.

Interesting.

READERS' COMMENTS

* Robert, Phantom's Lair: "Sounds just like Kerry and his second DD-214 which has never appeared, even to the day."

* Bob V: "There is nothing “curious” about hiring a lawyer and moving to dismiss a silly suit like this one. And, by the way, the court did NOT order Obama to do anything. The purported document circulating on the internet is not a court order but a proposed order submitted by the plaintiff as required by local rules. This lawsuit will meet a quick and deserved dismissal, but I’d rather have you guys focus on nonsense like this instead of addressing the issues the American people care about in the worst economic crisis since the depression. That’s why “That One” is headed for a landslide victory on November 4th."

[NOTE: We amended our post to reflect that it was the court filing of Phillip Berg which wanted the documents and not the judge in the case, who has not ruled on any of the motions yet--and we apologized for that inaccuracy.]

The One is heading for a landslide victory because too many people have their fingers in their ears and the media will not do its job. There is nothing wrong with asking for proof of their citizenship. You or I would have to do the same thing if we ran."

* LBG: "Nice job of moving the goal posts, Bob. You say “silly lawsuit”, we say this is a matter of public interest. As we mentioned before, the rest of us have to do it, why not Obama? Have nice day, Bob."

* Russell: "I had heard about the rumors involving Barack Obama’s birth certificate since the summer, but assuming they were petty right-wing nonsense, I never bothered checking up on them. I happened to stumble-upon this site (strangely enough, using (Firefox’s Stumble-Upon feature), and spent the requisite time to read the entire saga from prologue to epilogue. My original estimation was correct."

* PJ's Heart Attack: "I suggest everyone who reads this click the Drudge Report and report it as a tip.
Its a blockbuster. The Democratic presidential candidate was born a Muslim in another country? Never."

* pat: "So why won’t Obama let anyone see his long form Birth Certificate?"

* Sandra McDonald: "You’re right Russell, its huge news, and it could change the election completely."

* Bob V: "LGB1 - Sincere thanks for the good wishes, and I wish you a good day as well. I actually am having a good day - Obama is up 11 points nationally in the Gallup poll for the second day in a row, and is now, for the first time, ahead in West Virginia for the first time - up 8 points, according to the ARG poll just released today. West Virginia!

With respect to the birth certificate nonsense, those of your readers who would like to get the real facts from an objective source can go to http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/born_in_the_usa.html, to read about and see the genuine Hawaii birth certificate for Senator Obama, as well as the birth notice published at the time in the local Honolulu newspaper. (I know - his parents must have forseen that they would need to fake his natural born citizenship when he was born, in case he wanted to run for President.)

Really, you know when Ronald Reagan was running for President, conservatives appealed to American voters by talking about ideas - free enterprise, limited government, civil liberties. That was the high road, and it worked. It’s sad to see what the movement has become 28 years later. No wonder real conservatives like Charles Krauthammer and George Will are so despondent about what’s happened to formerly intellectual conservatism."

[NOTE: We referenced FactCheck.org in our story--both of their articles, as well as why others, as well as DBKP, had some problems with their facts and fact checking.]

* pat: "Here is the thing, if the public is curious about this innocuous issue, Obama should simply provide it. If Obama feels people are a bit too conspiratorial, it would serve him well to laugh about it , blow it up, and explain the contents in front of a friendly crowd. It would get huge play and be a good joke.

IF HE WANTED TO DISMISS THE LAWSUIT, HE SHOULD HAVE ATTACHED THE BC TO THE MOTION. Over. Summary Judgment. Hmmmmmmm. Now that is curious. Because he did not."

* Serpico: "Shhh. Don’t remind anyone how well the DNC vetted Joe Lieberman and John Edwards."

* PJ, PJMcIlvaine: "I think this story is as silly as claiming that John McCain can’t run for office either cos he was born in Panama. Well, I have a pretty good hunch this story will go the way of Biden “leaving” the ticket on October 5th…."
[and]
"Bob, it’s just so much more fun for people to spout rumor and nonsense….why cloud the issue with facts? I hope you go to fivethirtyeight.com Great polling site…."

* Bob V: "PJ - Fivethirtyeight.com is my favorite polling site. Whenever I get discouraged by reading all this drivel on the internet, I get my spirits right back up by seeing what real people are thinking. It looks like it’s going to be a landslide! Keep the faith!"

* Maricela: "I can not imagine that anyone serving in any governmental office did not have to prove their citizenship with a birth certificate. Racism is well an alive in our United States but remember latinos and blacks are the growing majority. Be nice cause we are. Do not become like McCain —Divisive, creating hate mongers and terroistic inciters and the sad part, he now hides behind 2 skirts"

* Da Truth: "PJ, Except John McCain was born in a US Naval hospital 30 years before Hawaii was even a US State, and has provided a valid birth certificate."

* Maricela: "For all skeptics on Senator Obama’s birth certificate at http://www.factcheck.org
They researached well and received information from the following sources:

[Again, we included multiple references to the FactCheck.org piece above in our article--including why we, in a hasty decision, depended on their fact checking for 4 months and why we now question it.]

* Bob's Vagina: "Don’t forget John Kerry was winning in a landslide victory ON ELECTION DAY polls. That don’t mean Shiite (the type of Islam both Obama’s father, his five muslim college roommates and his four muslim brothers practiced)."

* Another Joe: "A very good report in spite of your last minute claifications.

Even though I am a Democrat and find this unbelievable, the fact that some of your readers simply blink at this really shows what a fine sense of patriotism and respect for the rule of law they have.

The core of a civilized society, whether it leans to or is totally to the left or right, is the rule of law, for without it, there is anarchy. The respect anyone shows by producing pertinent documents when requested is the respect to that rule of law. So, why would a constitutional lawyer refrain from doing so? It’s VERY “curious”."

* Jacksonian: "I have two reactions to this post: Paranoia runs deep; GET A LIFE."

[NOTE: That's a keeper for our "Raves" marquee!]

* Gregg: "Dear Jacksonian, Paranoia? It’s paranoid to have a problem with someone who won’t produce his lousy birth certificate when requested by a judge becoming President of the United States? You know, I’d come to agree with Charles Johnson that there was nothing to this whole birth certificate flap, but I’m no longer so sure."

Gregg's comment above would describe our present position exactly. We don't know if this is true and clearly said so.

BUT, politicians exhibiting "curious behaviors" interest us. For some reason, we want to ask questions.]

In the John Edwards scandal, the National Enquirer's initial story on the affair passed without comment at DBKP because it contained very few facts that could be checked. That changed after the December Enquirer story: there were plenty of facts and the Edwards' campaign and the principals involved exhibited curious behavior for a group of people surrounding a presidential candidate--if they had nothing to hide.

Likewise, the issue of the Obama birth certificate did not excite our interest initially. The curious FactCheck.org language and the the debunking of several of their "facts" caught our interest. Also, FactCheck's post comes across as extremely biased in our closer reading. Why hurl invective at people who ask a fact check site to check facts? Why post that digital images have not been altered when it quickly established that they had? That was interesting.

Finally, the Obama campaign's curious behavior in reaction to Berg v. Obama was the kicker. This "silly suit" could have been dispatched PDQ by ponying up the documents requested. The Berg suit says as much. That the campaign, rather than just produce the vault copy birth certificate has decided to devote legal resources to fighting it just doesn't make sense. They could put this issue to bed with on FEDEX delivery.

That they chose not to led to our article.

It does not help that Obama:
  • has been less than forthcoming about his past associations;
  • Changed his story as more facts become available on several of these questions, particularly Jeremiah Wright. Initially, Obama vigorously defended Wright before claiming that he "didn't hear him say those things" while sitting in his church for 20 years. This is also clearly the case the more Obama talks about his years-long relationship with William Ayers;
  • has refused to make many documents available which might help his case--or hurt him badly. IN particular, his thesis from college falls into this category. The problems Stanley Kurtz had in obtaining the Chicago Anneberg Challenge records also comes to mind.
