The Week in Crime

December 30, 2007 - January 5, 2008

My name is Trench Reynolds.

I blog about crime.

Some of you may know me from my several crime blogs. Others of you may know me from my contribution here at DBKP on the Megan Meier situation.

Thanks to the generosity of Mondoreb I'll now be bringing you the week in crime from my blogs here at DBKP. I haven't thought of a name for this feature yet so feel free to recommend one. Let's get on with the show shall we?

Crime

For the week of Dec, 30th-Jan, 5th

craigscrimelist documents crime related to the popular online classified site craigslist. This week's story focuses on Miami realtor Dean Isenburg.

He pleaded guilty to placing a phony 'escort' ad on craigslist in order to harass his top competitor. The ad stated that his competitor was a prostitute and gave out her home phone number.

CrimeNe.ws is a user generated crime news site that also allows blogging capabilities. This past week I blogged about William Enman.

He was found not guilty by reason of insanity back in 1974 in the beating death of a New Jersey man. He escaped from his psychiatric facility back in September.

My point with this post was that back in 1991 a court ruled that Enman didn't have to take his medication and that the courts are more worried about killer's feelings than the safety of the public.

MyCrimeSpace deals with crime as it relates to social network sites like MySpace and Facebook. On Dec, 30th I posted about Anthony Uckele who is a 24-year-old California man who was convicted for having a sexual relationship with a 12-year-old girl.

It amazed me how many people posted comments on this case that blamed the 12-year-old victim.

News of Doom is a site that I created that continues to perplex me to this day. It documents the crime stories that as I say is proof that as a race humans don't deserve to exist.

The stories on News of Doom are the most heart wrenching stories you'll find. More than occasionally I hate posting at News of Doom but every time I shut it down my readers beg me to bring it back. I guess people love to be pissed off.

In my opinion the most disparaging of these stories in the past week was the story of Michael Gagnon. He's a Michigan drunk driver that killed 5 members of a Maryland family in Ohio over the New Year's weekend.

Psycho for Love is a blog that I inherited from a previous blogger at b5media who I do some work for. It's motto basically describes the site, "When passion leads to crime".

This week the majority of my focus has been on former Arizona beauty queen turned kidnapper Kumari Fulbright. She's also a law student and after being indicted is being allowed to return to the University of Arizona Law School.

Public Enemy:Player1 takes pro-gamers' look at video games and crime. The story that caught my attention most this week was that of 20-year-old Joshua R. Stetar of Upstate New York. He stalked a 15-year-old girl who played Halo who lived in Washington state. That was a 2600 mile drive for Setar.

I made Tased and Confused in the wake of the "Don't Tase me Bro" controversy. My opinion is that is cops didn't use Tasers they'd still be using their guns more often and that if you've been Tased you've probably deserved it.

This week I posted about one Frank Waterhouse of Portland, Oregon. He was Tased by the Portland PD while he videotaped them pursuing a fleeing suspect on his property. I think he deserved it for interfering with the policemen's job but of course he's suing.

Lastly we have my very first blog TheTrenchcoat Chronicles where I've been posting for almost 8 years. It mainly deals with school shootings and other school related crimes.

Since most schools have been on holiday break news has been a little slow so I went off topic this week and posted about how some Latino gangs in L.A. are practicing ethnic cleansing.

That's the week that was for the week in crime. This is Trench Reynolds and I'll see you next week.
