Lindsay Lohan and Other Marilyn Monroe 'Posers'

We took a look at some of the Marilyn Monroe 'posers', Lindsay Lohan, Madonna, Anna Nicole Smith and Britney Spears, who had themselves photographed in pictures similar to those which Marilyn Monroe became famous for.

Did these celebrities attempts at Marilyn "imitation" stack up to the original Monroe's?

We'll let our readers be the judge.

Marilyn Monroe, The Last Sitting, 1962

In 1962, just six weeks before she was dead from an overdose at age 36, Marilyn Monroe posed for photographer Bert Stern at the Bel-Air Hotel in Los Angeles. This set of famous pics are now referred to as "The Last Sitting."

She's just 21 but actress Lindsay Lohan was photographed by Bert Stern, the same photographer who photographed Marilyn in 1962 known as The Last Sitting.

"If you saw my house, I have a lot of Marilyn stuff. I've got this painting of her in my house. It's eerie because it's a picture and it's kind of like a cartoon, and there's a big bottle of pills next to her, and they've fallen over." Source - news.com.au
Lindsay on Marilyn Monroe

Lindsay seems to have more than just a "thing" for Marilyn:

Lindsay Lohan has purchased the Los Angeles apartment that movie legend Marilyn Monroe once called home. The 20-year-old, who is currently in rehab at the Wonderland Center in the Hollywood Hills, is expected to move into Monroe’s former two-bedroom apartment after her treatment is completed. A Review

Lindsay Lohan has redone Marilyn Monroe’s famous pictures taken in weeks before she died in 1962 called simply “The Last Sitting.” I don’t know why, but New York Magazine offers us an opportunity to see Lindsay’s boobies. You know, for the 8 of us who haven’t seen them. Apparently this is supposed to be artsy and respectable or conjure some similarity between Marilyn Monroe and Lindsay but I don’t see it. Sorry. Take off the wig, props and make up and I’m thinking Lindsay’s freckled ass needs to stop getting career advice from Dipso-Dina. Source - Extrawhoredinary

Anna Nicole Smith emulated Monroe, even dying in a similar manner, from a drug overdose Feb. 7, 2007, at age 39.

The body is still warm and already the comparisons begin between Anna Nicole Smith and Marilyn Monroe. This is a denegrating insult to our American film heritage and to the legacy of Marilyn Monroe.

Let’s put the idea back in the cupboard now. While Anna Nicole Smith was an accomplished hussy who also attempted acting in bad movies, Marilyn Monroe was an accomplished actress who needed men. There is no comparison on their accomplishments. None at all. Source - Right Pundits

Madonna denied she had a thing for Marilyn, yet Fleadip, the Anti-Madonna site has a compilation of photos which shows Madonna copied more than just Marilyn's "Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend."

Britney Spears, Feb. 2007, Esquire Magazine

Twenty feet away from me, Britney Spears is pantless. Her sculpted hair makes her look like Marilyn Monroe on a date with DiMaggio, assuming they're going to Manhattan's finest pantless restaurant. She's wearing a sweater that probably costs more than my parents' house, and her white heels add five inches to her five-foot-four pantless frame. Oh, and did I mention she's pantless? She's not wearing any pants.

This is a hard detail to ignore.

Source - Chuck Klosterman, Esquire

A few words from Britney on.. sexuality... from her Esquire photo shoot and the Marilyn "Sweater" pose.
"I was just talking about sexuality with my makeup artist," she tells me. "And I was explaining to her that when I was thirteen years old, I used to walk around my house completely naked. And my dad would say, 'Britney, put some clothes on, we have people over.' My family just always walked around the house naked. We were earthy people. I've never been ashamed of my body. We were very free people. (Interview with Chuck Klosterman) Source - Esquire

Are these Marilyn "posers" a case of "imitation being the sincerest form of flattery?"

Lindsay admits having a Marilyn fetish while according to the site, Fleadip, Madonna incorporated Marilyn's poses into some of her early videos, even as late as 2003 in the W magazine spread.

Anna Nicole wanted to be Marilyn but became an infamous icon in her own right.

Britney most likely used the Marilyn "theme" for the photo spread in Esquire but we couldn't find any mention of a previous Marilyn "crush."

In our opinion these ladies may have tried to imitate Marilyn but invariably they fell short as none of them will ever be as beautiful or as sexy as Marilyn was. Marilyn was in a class all by herself.

Britney Spears: Britney Pix at 36 and 46

What Britney Will Look Like?

"Men talk of killing time, while time quietly kills them."
--Dion Boucicault

If anything can sober her up, these pix might

A few days ago, a story came out about some artists, who specialize in "age progression" releasing a photo of what Britney Spears will look like at age 36 and another at 46.

Sad.

But based on a hard-partying, nocturnal lifestyle, the artists are saying that the camera in their mind's eye doesn't lie.
A simulated photo of Britney Spears at age 36 has been released by a team of experts specializing in "age art". And the results aren't looking good.

The digital experts from Age Progression composed the image factoring in Britney's fast food, heavy drinking and hard partying lifestyle.

The team also constructed a photo of what Britney could potentially look like at age 46, depicting her as a frizzy haired blonde.

The age progression people are the same ones who did the simulated photo of Elvis below.

It's supposedly what the King would look like at 72--had he lived.

It shows the effects of sex, drugs, rock 'n' roll and too many peanut butter and banana sandwiches.

But before you say, "Poor Britney!", remember that those with the money can hope for a better end than what nature has planned for them.

After all, one former pop star is still going strong and is a living testament to the powers of the American plastic surgeon.

So, we say: Britney need not despair.

Others have walked the same hard path before you.

UPDATE:

One other age progression simulated photo found during our web-scouring.

Jon Benet Ramsey at 6 and 16

Age progression is the process of modifying a photograph of a person to represent the effect of aging on their appearance. Digital image processing is the most common technique today, although sometimes artists' drawings are used. Age progression is most often used as a forensics tool by law enforcement. It can be used to show the likely current appearance of a missing person from a photograph many years old.

Britney Spears: Madness, Managers, and Manipulators

Britney Spears' family has fired yet another business manager of the embattled pop star. Britney's family has accused Howard Grossman of "aiding and abetting" Britney against their instructions during a time when the courts have given them the power to try to reign their daughter in.

The Spears family has also made allegations that another "manager", Sam Lufti, of being a Swengali, of inducing Britney's downward spiral into temporary madness.

We wondered, how many managers has Britney had in the past few years and who were they? Did any of Britney's "crazy" episodes intertwine with her managers, coming or going?

Larry Rudolph

Britney's first manager, Larry Rudolph, accredited with "discovering" the new child prodigy, 13-year-old Britney, and who stayed with Britney off and on for almost a decade until the fall of 2004, less than one month after she married Kevin Federline.

October 10, 2004, Rudolph announced he was no longer Britney's manager, Rudolph working for Maloof Entertainment.

Soon after her marriage to Federline, Spears announced she would take a break in her career to start a family. She gave birth to her first son, Sean Preston Federline, on Sept. 14, 2005. Her second child, Jayden James Federline, was born Sept. 12, 2006. By November, Britney had filed for divorce from the two boy's father.

LAS VEGAS — Britney Spears' manager denied reports that the pop star passed out in a Las Vegas nightclub shortly after leading the New Year's Eve countdown, saying she just fell asleep.

"By about 1 o'clock, she was just done, so we took her out," Spears' manager, Larry Rudolph, told The Associated Press Monday. "She was not drunk. She was just tired and falling asleep."

Spears, 25, was hired to host the festivities at Caesars Palace's Pure nightclub.

But a Pure source told the Las Vegas Review Journal the bubbly star had been knocking back pineapple rum cocktails with champagne when she collapsed shortly after midnight, and that she had to be helped back to her hotel room by bodyguards. Source - Fox News

Larry Rudolph -The New Year is about to bring a new, improved Britney Spears, her manager vows, adding that the pop princess is aware that her image has suffered lately.

"She understands what's going on right now, and she calls it her 'rocky moment,' " manager Larry Rudolph tells USA Today. "Britney knows exactly what she needs to do."

Rudolph's comments are, in part, in response to an announcement that on Jan. 31, the 6-year-old "World of Britney" Web site, the largest unofficial fan site devoted to the 25-year-old singer, is shutting down. (In its first five years, the site reportedly attracted about 30 million Spears fans.) Source - People

Britney admits herself to a treatment facility in Malibu, California. According to Britney's manager, Larry Rudolph, Spears left on March 20 after "completing her treatment."

Does Britney Spears “hate” her manager, Larry Rudolph? And is Rudolph even her manager?

Here’s a better question: Who is in charge of Britney Spears, anyway?

Spears, for example, has been telling friends that she “hates” Rudolph and never intended to sign with him again after leaving his orbit in October 2004. That’s when Spears severed her relations with Rudolph after nearly a decade.

But then, when Spears went off the deep end last year following her separation from the infamously impaired Kevin Federline, Rudolph stepped in and got Spears’ name back on the dotted line.

“She signed a five year contract with him,” says a source. “She says she didn’t know what she was doing at the time, and can’t stand him. But what can she do? Bring in a lawyer and say she signed under duress? That she was drunk or stoned?” Source - Fox News

17 April 2007 (Sawf News) - Britney fired her manager Larry Rudolph on Friday (13 Apr 2007), the same day she dissed her management in an emotional, almost crazed, rant delivered on a paparazzi video. April 13

In a classic example of shooting the messenger, in her rant the emotionally distraught pop tart held her management responsible for believing she had an alcohol problem and sending her to rehab.

Pagesix which broke the story also reports Britney holds Rudolph responsible for introducing her to erstwhile mentor Paris Hilton.

Jamie Spears told us in an e-mail: "When Larry Rudolph talked Britney into going into rehab, he was doing what her mother, father and team of professionals with over 100 years of experience knew needed to be done. She was out of control. Larry was the one chosen by the team to roll up his sleeves and deliver the message, to help save her life.

"The Spears family would like to publicly apologize to Larry for our daughter’s statements about him over the past few weeks. Unfortunately, she blames him and her family for where she is at today with her kids and career. Larry has always been there for Britney. For this, we will forever be grateful to him." Britney Spears has hired Kelly Clarkson’s former manager, Jeff Kwatinetz.

Britney sacked her manager, Larry Rudolph, in April - just six months after rehiring him - while the "American Idol" winner fired Kwatinetz in June.

As celebrity trends go, the crotch shot is so not hot. Heck, even Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton started putting on panties two seasons ago. But just last week, Britney Spears treated the world to yet another gander at her no-no. Why does the plummeting pop star keep doing it? The latest issue of In Touch Weekly delivers the scoop on Brit’s distaste for drawers.

“The underwear thing is ridiculous — and I’ve told her,” Britney’s pal, jewelry designer Tuesday Knight, told In Touch. “I’ve said, ‘You cannot walk into a store wearing just a shirt with your underwear off.’ I’ve told her that no one will take her seriously when she does this.” Source - MSNBC

The misdemeanor hit-and-run charge against Britney Spears was dismissed on Thursday, Oct. 25. Spears' lawyers reached a settlement with the owner of the car Brit hit back in August, offering to pay approximately $1,000 for damages.

However, Britney still has to deal with the charge of driving without a valid California driver's license, stemming from the same August accident. The pop star pleaded not guilty via her lawyer J. Michael Flanagan in court Thursday. She was ordered to appear in court on Nov. 26 to deal with the issue. Source - Star Magazine

In a phone call to Barbara Walters, Britney Spears' pal Sam Lutfi revealed that the pop singer "is starting some kind of treatment" for "mental issues," the talk show host announced on The View Monday.

"There is a man named Sam Lutfi, who is the manager and very good friend of Britney," Walters told the audience. "He has been staying with her constantly.

"He got in touch with us... I can't vouch for this... He seemed to be very knowledgeable and he certainly was very nice.

It has been made clear in the past few days that Sam Lufti, Britney Spears' "manager" (as he calls himself) is hanging on by a thread in her life. Brit's mom hates the guy and we now know why. MTV has uncovered numerous reports and court fillings which show Lufti has countless restraining orders against him, for harassment of people and their siblings. To mention a few, he's harassed friends, neighbors, acquaintances plus their families. He has even sent nude photos of himself to an old friend and encouraged him to commit suicide. Oh, what a friend. We now see the urgency to get him as far away from Brit as possible and why her mom always wanted to kick him out of her daughters life. Source - Whyfame

Jamie and Lynne Spears arrived at L.A. Superior Court Friday afternoon.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A hearing in the child custody battle between Britney Spears and her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, was postponed on Monday because the troubled pop star remains hospitalized for psychiatric evaluation, media reports said.

A restraining order was issued against Britney Spears’ manager after he was accused of drugging her, parading her in front of the paparazzi and cutting her phone lines.

Osama Lutfi, 33, the pop star's sometime companion, guru and manager has been at Spears’s side throughout much of her well-documented public breakdown.

Lynne Spears said there were a string of disagreements between her daughter and Mr Lutfi. “Sam had told Britney she was an unfit mother, a piece of trash and a whore, that she cares more about Adnan (Ghalib), her current boyfriend than she cares about her kids and that she does not deserve her kids,” she said.

To keep Britney quiet Mrs Spears claimed that her manager said he ground up drugs and put them in her food. “He told us that the doctor who is treating her now is trying to get her into a sleep-induced coma so that they could then give her drugs to heal her brain.”

Late that same evening, she said Britney decided she needed to go shopping for lipstick. Before they left the house, she said Mr Lutfi took Britney upstairs and gave her something “to make her more lighthearted, happy and fun.” Source - Times Online

HOLLYWOOD - Britney Spears' manager/companion Sam Lutfi is planning on writing a book about the star's troubled personal life.

Lutfi, who was served with a restraining order on Friday and instructed to stay away from Spears, has been asking the troubled singer to dictate her memoirs to him and is looking forward to putting the notes into a book.

Howard Grossman, the business manager, tells PEOPLE he is aware he was the subject of a closed-door hearing Thursday but he has no idea why a temporary conservator's motion to give Spears's father the right to fire him was granted.

Last week, Britney's manager Howard Grossman was mysteriously fired. Well now we know why. According to TMZ,"Lawyers for the conservators accused Howard Grossman of ignoring their ground rules. One lawyer wrote in a declaration that she told Grossman "he was not permitted to give Britney any money, credit or access to money or credit cards or to meet with her ... at the Beverly Hills Hotel or anywhere else.

The lawyer claims Grossman defied the order by meeting Brit at the Bev Hills Hotel last week. The lawyer, Jeryll Cohen, is pissed off because Grossman also directed Bev Hills Mercedes to deliver one of Britney's cars to the hotel without first getting the conservators' permission. Britney Spears taught dance to children not much older than her own boys on Monday at Millennium Dance Complex in North Hollywood.

Britney Spears: Today and Yesterday Pictures

Britney: Rough Night Out
Mickey Mouse Club Britney Pic

The trainwreck that is Britney Spears' life keeps chugging along.

Released earlier from a psychiatric hospital, the singer promptly went out on the town dressed as--Britney Spears.

Tired of not receiving the proper amount of "whore attention" lately, Britney remedied that by reminding everyone how she dressed on her way to the top.

The holes in the stockings are a new touch, though.

One source called her look, "Bedraggled and bra-less".
Wearing torn fishnet tights and exposing her underwear, it seems a spell in a psychiatric hospital has done little to change Britney Spears' chaotic lifestyle - or her dress sense.

The troubled star, who checked herself out of the UCLA Medical Centre earlier this week, was spotted taking a cigarette break at the Millennium dance studio in Hollywood.

Looking bedraggled, the bra-less 26-year-old skipped out of rehearsals to smoke and adjust her torn fishnets in full view of waiting photographers.

Here's a pic of Britney in the ambulance after stand-off with police.

And for old times' sake, we thought we'd dig up an old pic of Britney when she was a member of the Mickey Mouse Club.

Those were better days for all of us.

Britney Spears' Family 'Railroads' Dr. Phil

While Britney Spears' life continues to resemble a slow motion train wreck, Dr. Phil was 'run over' by a representative of the Spears Clan on this morning's Today Show.

From the AP:
Lou Taylor, business manager for Britney Spears' mom, Lynne, and little sis, Jaime, appeared on the Today Show:
"The family basically extended an invitation of trust for him to come in as a support them, not to go out and make public statements," Taylor said.

"Any statement publicly that he made, because he was brought in under this cloak of trust, (is) just inappropriate."
This was in response to Dr. Phil coming forward soon after Britney Spears was released from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after an apparent "mini-meltdown".
"My meeting with Britney and some family members this morning in her room at Cedars leaves me convinced more than ever that she is in dire need of both medical and psychological intervention," McGraw told the programs.

"She was released moments before my arrival and was packing when I entered the room. We visited for about an hour before I walked with her to her car. I am very concerned for her," he said. Source - myway
Dr. Phil announced that he would be taping an hour long "retrospective" show on Monday. Just a few mere days after Britney's release from the hospital and without Britney's presence.
Taylor said McGraw was invited to the hospital by Spears' family, but "he was not invited to make this part of a public display or part of the media." [AP]
It was then we felt, that the lines between friendship, concern, and viewer ratings had blurred.

On Monday night's Entertainment Tonight, Dr. Phil responded to charges his motives were less than pure.
"Somebody needs to step up and get this young woman into some quality care and I do not apologize one whit, not one second, for trying to make that happen," he said.
We were part of the "what were you thinking, Dr. Phil" crowd. On Monday we wrote about Dr. Phil's decision to cancel the hour long Britney "perspective".
Dr. Phil backed down from the planned Britney piece today claiming the climate within Britney's world and family "too tense".

Yes. Well. Talking about Britney and her "problems" without Britney's presence would have been "one-sided" no matter how Dr. Phil couched the terms or put in the guise of a psychological "discussion".

No matter how intellectual the conversation it's still talking (using) someone else's problems, tragedy in some manner. If it's used to garner ratings then it's crass.

Dr. Phil and his customary guests are usually real people not pop princesses. Britney's problems, that of being raised a child star, singing and starring in suggestive videos in her teenage years, earning millions of dollars before her 20th birthday, we find it hard to believe that any audience could relate. DBKP - Dr. Phil Cancels Planned "Britney Breakdown Retrospective"
If we were in the audience of a Dr. Phil Versus The Spears Clan talk show, we'd cheer Dr. Phil, because, good God, the man is right. That young woman needs help!

We pounded on Dr. Phil's methods and his motives but in the end, the man knows what he's talking about. Getting bogged down in minutiae only enables the Spears Clan to rally around and attack Dr. Phil, something dysfunctional families are famous for. As long as you have "enemies" you never have to look at yourselves.

The height of the Spears Family silliness was Mother Lynne's plan to publish a book on parenting.

Michelle Williams has written a great piece:
I have been fortunate enough to get my hands on Lynn Spears' parenting book. I'm thrilled to be able to recommend this book to new parents out there who want to do a bang-up job on raising their kids as well as Lynn Spears, mother to Britney Spears and the 16 year old star of Zoey, Jamie Lynn, who just KOd her career as a wholesome young teen by announcing that she is pregnant by her live-in boyfriend.

Some of the topics cover: "How to get your kids to really work for you," "how to push, push, push your kids into show business at all costs," "how to get your daughter to remain a virgin until her 12th birthday," "ignore your son - boys can't make as much in show biz as girls," "How to effectively manage your child's career," "How to get the hairdresser to give your five year old daughter a dye job," "where you can go to get your 13 year old breast implants," and more. Source - The People's Media Company
Dr. Phil, we were less than charitable to your public attempts to help Britney. But we've realized something important. Your methods were different, out there, in the open, but sincere. No matter how the "message" was delivered, it was right on the money. It seems no one can get through to this young woman or her family.

While the rest of us watch the slow motion train wreck that's Britney's Spears' life, you decided to take action and help. The Spears Clan Crazy Train just ran over you, Dr. Phil. You're a big guy and can handle it. As for the Spears Clan, we're not sure about them, just run like hell and get out of the way!
