[ABOVE: The office of the President-elect?]

* Good News
* Culture
* Essential Trivia
* Idiot of the Week
* Hero of the Week

In case you missed it, Obama won. Supporters gathered on the White House lawn in celebration, some of them waving the Soviet flag. I kid you not - check out the video.

Iran sent wholehearted congratulations and the leader of a jihadi group in Iraq argued that Obama as president represents a victory for radical Islamic groups that have battled American forces since the invasion of Iraq.

The first thing Obama did after winning the election was to set up an Office of the President-Elect. Huh? He then set about deciding which of Bush's executive orders he will overturn first, stem cell or offshore drilling.

Finally, his staff confirmed that it would be full speed ahead on revoking Bush's tax cuts for the 'wealthiest Americans.' Despite the known economic fact that raising taxes in a recession is a disaster in the making.

Plans are now underway to promote a national holiday for Barack Obama.
The costliest campaign in history is finally over. So, too, is the credibility of the old media. Several news anchors wept tears of joy upon news of his win. Read about it in depth in 'The Return Of The Girly Men.'

Despite all this, there still remains lots of:

GOOD NEWS:

Social conservatives made some headway in the culture wars as three states banned gay marriage and most state-wide environmental issues were voted down.

San Francisco voters lost their bid to have a waste treatment plant officially named after George Bush, (how ruuude..) and they also rejected Measure K, which would have legalized prostitution.
Europe is in full retreat on their climate plan and a new report shows that sea ice is growing at the fastest pace ever.

Confidence in Iraq is at an all time high, with 51% of voters expecting the situation in Iraq to improve in the next six months. Thank-you, President Bush. Oh, in India, 6,000 muslim clerics actually issued a fatwa against terrorism. Baby steps, baby steps...

CULTURE

An Oregon town has elected America's first transgendered mayor. Isn't he/she cute?

Washington state became the second state to give terminally ill people the option of assisted suicide with the passage of Initiative 1000. That doesn't mean that patients who want their physicians help in killing themselves will be able to get it as some doctors in Washington still take seriously the Hippocratic Oath.

A new study shows that increasing numbers of people seeking assisted suicide in Switzerland do not suffer from a terminal illness. Speaking of assisted suicide, exit polls from MSNBC, CNN and Fox show that Obama received a whopping 78% of the Jewish vote.

A sterile woman is set to give birth to the world's first baby conceived after a full ovary transplant. In Japan, scientists have successfully cloned mice whose bodies were frozen for as long as 16 years. They say it may now be possible to use this technique to resurrect mammoths and other extinct species.

Over in the UK, Lord Winston said that organs from pigs could be available for transplant into patients in the next decade. It truly is a brave new world.

Watch out, guys. Alarming trends in male fertility rates, birth defects and disorders are emerging around the world. More and more boys are being born with genital defects and are suffering from learning disabilities, autism and Tourette's syndrome, among other disorders.

ESSENTIAL TRIVIA

Wildlife officials in northern California last week came across one of the biggest Chinook salmon ever found in the state — a monster more than 4 feet long and weighing 85 pounds.

A new report concludes that voter turnout in Tuesday’s election was the same in percentage terms as it was four years ago — or at most has risen by less than 1 percent.

A top ten of the most irritating expressions has been compiled by researchers at Oxford University. Heading the list was the expression 'at the end of the day,' followed by the phrase 'fairly unique.' My own choice is 'Change' and 'Yes we can.'

A python has been filmed trying to swallow a wallaby whole at a Cairns university. The world’s first commercially available bionic hand has been named as one of the top inventions of 2008.

Brain scans show that bullies actually enjoy others' pain. The part of the brain associated with reward lights up when an aggressive teen watches a video of someone hurting another person, but not when a non-aggressive youth watches the same clip. Doesn't Obama have a strange smile?

Totally apropos of nothing, the day after the election, the Illinois lottery's winning number was 6-6-6.
Feminists around the world have reacted with horror to a new line of lingerie that includes a chastity belt equipped with a GPS tracking system.

From the 'Slippery Slope' file: A Japanese man has posted an online petition, arguing that Japan should change its laws to allow people to marry comic book characters. Over 1,000 have signed, so far.

IDIOT OF THE WEEK

What do you get when you're drunk, packing heat and a kid at the same time. This guest at an Iraqi wedding found out. Caution: Being an idiot can be harmful to your health, and to the health of those around you.

So many idiots, so little space. A new edition of our Idiots Of The Week Awards will be available Tuesday morning on RightBias.com.

This week, we also have a:

HERO OF THE WEEK

This honor goes to a prominent biologist at the University of California. This guy lost his job because he refused to undergo the University's sexual harassment training. He called the mandatory training a "sham" and considers his refusal an act of "civil disobedience." My kinda guy!
Until next Monday, keep smiling,

Obama, McCain Flag Pin Watch: Taking Turns Playing Gotcha

Hey, MsM and Bloggers, Dems and GOP:
Stop the flag pin blood feud!

by Rhonda Roland Shearer

Nicole Belle, CrooksandLiars.com, claimed, gotcha!, Apr. 19 08, "Notice Anything? John McCain doesn't wear an American flag pin on THIS WEEK" (Arrows in photos are original to Belle's article. Are they big enough? )

Taking Turns on the Obama, McCain Flag Pin Watch

On Sunday, Oct. 26, Fox News showed The View’s Elisabeth Hasselbeck introducing VP candidate Sarah Palin. Hasselbeck emphasized that Palin wears a flag pin for her son, who serves in the Army. Palin reached for her lapel and smiled right on cue, as if she were Hasselbeck’s sidekick modeling jewelry on the Home Shopping Network.

That's fine. But what does the focus on the pin mean for her boss, John McCain, who does not always wear his flag pin? McCain made it clear last October, when he was asked about Barack Obama not wearing a flag pin, that he "doesn't wear a flag pin on a daily basis."

Obama soon started to wear a pin after that dust-up. (See LA Times, Breaking News: Obama caves! Flag pin returns to his coat lapel, Apr.16 2008). Case closed? Not a chance. Dem and GOP pin watchers alike cannot give it up.

Later on Oct. 26, there was Fox News again, this time Hannity's America, flogging the flag pin flap, replaying a 2007 Obama interview - breaking news! - in which he first said he would not wear the flag pin.

Not to be outdone, one web site has assembled a "montage" of press photos of John McCain in the 70 days after he secured the Republican presidential nomination. In none of the more than 1,300 images reviewed between March and May was McCain wearing a flag pin. Yet by the fall, the pin's absence was still enough of an issue that the Louisville, Ky., Courier-Journal reported on Oct. 1 that McCain "did not wear an American flag lapel pin during the debate."

So what's the "gotcha" all about?

Culture: Iraq Good News, Culture Wars Madness and Idiot of the Week

Culture Watch Vol. 37

The Obama campaign continues its media fueled juggernaut. Despite McCain now within the margin of error, the Media Declares Obama The Winner. Obama ads are now embedded in video games, and government schools even have a textbook that includes a chapter on Obama. One Middle school was ordered to remove a huge Obama poster hanging over the front entrance. I don't know about you, but this guy is starting to scare me.

Meanwhile, in case you missed it, there is lots of unreported,

GOOD NEWS:

Fox News appears to be the only media reporting on the excellent news coming out of Iraq. Baghdad has actually started to disarm. Iraqi soldiers have been collecting private guns around the capitol. Now, only citizens with the proper permits can keep their weapons.

Remember Fallujah? As in, 'the bloody battle of..?' Well, things have changed. Last February, there were 8,000 Marines stationed there to ensure security. Now there are only 3,000. And by next month, there will be none. Zero, Zip. All across Iraq our troops are quietly leaving - and so far the Iraqis are doing a pretty good job of keep their country terrorist free. Dare we say Mission Accomplished??

Oh, our guys also killed the number 2 al-Qaeda leader in Iraq - a Moroccan guy known for his ability to recruit and motivate foreign fighters. With any luck, he is now enjoying the company of 72 vegetarians in the great hereafter.

In other good news, Iran has decided to limit child executions. A new judicial directive bans the execution of kids for drug crimes but keeps capitol punishment for those convicted of murder. Talk about baby steps.

CULTURE:

Bad news on the culture front. A new poll shows a full 69% of Democrats agree with Obama's socialist 'spread the wealth' position. And conservative icon Bill Buckley's son, Christopher, has decided to endorse Obama. He has since resigned from his dad's flagship magazine, National Review. Go figure.

Good news in France as Frenchmen decide to stand up for their country - Now, any football match before which France's National Anthem is booed, will be immediately stopped.
San Francisco will be voting on a measure this November to diss Bush in a big way by naming a sewage treatment plant after him. This is what liberals consider 'cute.' This is what conservatives consider an appalling lack of manners and class. One thing for sure - San Fran won't ever see a nickel of my vacation dollars.
God has gotten the boot in Washington. It seems another revision of America's religious history has been underway - this time at the $621 million Capitol Visitor Center due to open in a couple months.

For some reason, sex seems to be a major front in the culture wars. The good news is that sex offenders in Maryland must post this sign on their residences, in order to give trick-or-treaters a heads up that a pervert lives there.

In a further push towards androgyny, men are now invading women's fashion. It seems men's bras and mascara aren't enough. Now the truly 'with it' metrosexual is sporting 'manyhose.' Another cute idea from the left. For the record - I, nor anyone I know, will ever date a man wearing mantyhose. Yech.

Over in Dubai, a couple, who no doubt believed that all cultures are equal, was sentenced to jail for having public sex.

On the education front, an elementary school teacher who decided to have a sex-change operation and spring it on her class with no warning has a few parents spanking mad. (Can I say that?)

In what is called 'higher education,' thousands of useful idiots cum professors have signed a petition in support of domestic terrorist and fellow teacher (and friend of Obama), William Ayers. Remember him? He's the guy that tried to blow up the Pentagon and, to this day, regrets not being able to do so. Maybe Obama will make him head of Homeland Security.

Last, but not least, a homeless 22 year-old man killed a New York City college student because he was bored.

TRIVIA:

Check out the new, all too green, air-powered car. Its called the AirPod. Expect a huge decrease in the Green population if eco-idiots decide to drive this on the same road as a semi.

A new study has determined what I knew years ago: Bottled water is no purer than tap water. Also reporting on the obvious, another study has found that you have to listen to 7 late night jokes about Republicans for every 1 joke about Democrats. What makes this disturbing is the fact that late night talk shows are the major source of political news for most young people.

IDIOT OF THE WEEK:

The hands down winner of this week's Idiots Award is Ireland's biggest bookmaker Paddy Power. He decided Thursday that he would pay out early more than 1 million euros on bets that Obama will be the next US president.

Space constraints and the plethora of idiots has resulted in RightBias launching a full page of winners and runners-up in our new weekly 'Idiots Of The Week Awards'. Check it out for more absurdities.
Till next week, keep smiling,

Dems Use Upside Down Flag and More Obama Gaffes

Official Dem Convention Pass
Features Upside Down Flag

Dem Convention Pass with upside-down American flag

In their first act before they take it on the road, Obama introduced Biden as the next president and Biden referred to Obama as Obama America. The McCain campaign didn't let any grass grow under their feet, releasing this commercial hours after the announcement. It's Biden, in his own words. Unbelievable!

All eyes are now on the Democrat Convention. SUVs and limos are beating a track to what is being billed as the greenest convention ever. The official pass for the convention, for some reason, features an upside down American flag. A portend of things to come?

MORE OBAMA:

In a strange reversal, Obama's (former?) pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright announced that he only recently became aware of how 'extreme' Obama's views are. Huh?

Maybe that's because Obama's views on infanticide are finally becoming known. The Obama campaign charged the National Right To Life Committee with 'lying' about his record on infanticide. They were left with foot in mouth after audio surfaced of Obama arguing against the Born Alive Infant Protection Act in 2002. Hey, maybe Obama just misspoke.Ya think?

Obama's Kenyan half-brother
Obama's long lost brother was tracked down. He was found living in a shack in Kenya on $1 dollar a month. There must be two Kenyas. Memo to DNC: How about 'He's Not Heavy, He's My Brother' as your theme song?
The University of Illinois came under fire for withholding documents that show Obama's involvement with a foundation headed by radical Weather Underground terrorist William Ayers. The university finally relented. Not that you'll hear it from the old media.
Its official. The media is in the tank for Obama. Surprise. A study released by the Media Research Center shows that the media gave Obama the margin of victory in the primaries. Obama was featured, for the seventh time, on the cover of Time Magazine. McCain has been featured twice. Hmm...

FactCheck.org has stated that all the rumors about Obama's supposedly fake birth certificate are not true. They claim Obama is indeed a genuine US citizen.

GOVERNMENT AT WORK:
The 110th Congress, whose term ends in January, hasn't passed any spending bills or attacked high gas prices. But it has used its powers to celebrate watermelons and to decree the origins of the word "baseball."
New York Mayor Bloomberg, in an effort to out-green the greens, proposed putting windmills on the top of city bridges and skyscrapers. He abandoned the proposal after the media ridiculed it.
The Dem's solution to our immigration problem - the pilot program aimed at getting immigrants to self-deport - has also been abandoned. Riches await the first to realize our government would make a great, but unbelievable, reality show.
An analysis of earmarks finds House lawmakers have approved $290 million more in earmarks this year, along with about 200 more projects compared to last year. Oink.

CULTURE:
College presidents from 100 of the best known universities are calling on lawmakers to consider lowering the drinking age. Harvard University is back on top of the U.S. News Report's college ranking list. And, lest we forget, the supposed 'victim' of those nasty Duke lacrosse players, you know, the one that lied about her rape, is releasing a tell-all memoir entitled 'The Last Dance For Grace: The Crystal Magnum Story.' The good news is, maybe the real victims in this case will be able to garnish earnings from this pathetic tramp's book.

Speaking of pathetic, Wrangler has a new ad campaign featuring dead bodies. This is no joke.

The battle continues between a homosexual activist and her former lesbian partner over who will control the now heterosexual, Christian woman's biological daughter. A 61 year-old woman has given birth to her own grandchild.
The Census bureau reports that most American women in their early 40s are childless and those who are having children are having fewer than ever before. If it weren't for Hispanic births, the US could be confronting long-term population declines.

Hallmark, the world's largest greeting card company is rolling out same-sex wedding cards and Coca Cola plans to celebrate Ramadan this year by decorating cans with a cresent moon and star - a widely recognized Islamic symbol.

Speaking of Islam, the Doctors' Union of Egypt has decided to prohibit the transplant of organs between Christians and Muslims.

ESSENTIAL TRIVIA:

According to a new study, the number of times a person blinks will show if they are speaking the truth. Is that a splinter in Obama's eye?

A Southern California woman has designed a line of swimsuits for Muslim women who adhere to a modest dress code. Eye catching, eh?

An answer to the burning question, "Will lesbians eat their own?" Lindsay Lohan has been labelled a fraud by lesbian activists: "Celebrities like Linsday Lohan are merely 'Gay For Play' and are attempting to cash in on the faddish appeal of lesbianism without any commitment to our cause."

IDIOT OF THE WEEK:

RightBias issues an apology to last weeks' idiot of the week - the Olympic wrestler who tossed his bronze medal away, calling the decision political. Turns out he's not the poor sport we thought he was. Actually, it turns out he was right, according to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

This week's idiot award goes to a 25 year-old man in Bangladesh who waded into a pond to receive a blessing from a crocodile. He was eaten instead.

Till next Monday, keep smiling,
