David Letcherman Staff Receives Instructions

Letcherman

David Letterman had sex with multiple members of his staff and another producer attempted to blackmail him for $2 million. Letterman (Letcherman) then turned the tables and informed the police.

One more instance of the saying, "When life gives you lemons, throw them at a pathetic, washed-up late-night TV host."

The biggest revelation is that his staff could stifle the reflex to yell, "Rape!" while having sex with a septuagenarian TV guy.

The graphic above smacks of Irony Curtain.

Which means another proud progressive mouthpiece has felt bite from the tongues of steel at that fine emporium of state humor, the comrades at I Own the World.com.

Martin Eisenstadt-Palin Hoax: No Harm, No Foul

Your Ad Here

True Confessions:
Martin Eisenstadt Story a HOAX
The Hoax of Manmade Climate Change Still Not Reported

Sarah Palin Africa Story Leaker is a Hoax
--But, HOAX Quickly Discovered

Yesterday's story from an obscure blog, Martin Eisenstadt's Blog, claimed the author the source of the "Sarah Palin doesn't know Africa is a continent" news leak.

"Eisenstadt the source for Sarah Palin Africa leak...and Proud of it"

By now you’ve all heard the Fox News report last week that “unnamed” former McCain advisers
leaked that Sarah Palin was confused about whether Africa was a continent, and which countries were in NAFTA. I was perfectly happy staying under the radar as an anonymous source for Fox NewsCarl Cameron, but now that Palin has accused her accusers of being “unprofessional…jerks…cowards… taking things out of context, and then tried to spread something on national news” and begun to cast doubt on the Fox News report, maybe she’s right to a certain extent. For those of us on the McCain campaign who thought that she acted like a rogue diva and lost John the election, maybe we DO have a responsibility to come out in public. But Sarah… careful what you ask for: some of us may have more to reveal.

So yes, to be clear, last week I was the one who leaked those things to a producer at Fox News who works with Cameron. Carl and his producers are good guys, and I don’t want them to have to worry about protecting their sources (and going through the wringer ala Judith Miller or Matt Cooper) on something like this.

The story turns out to be as believable as the original leaks were.

That is, they were a hoax.

Some reported on the Eisenstadt revelation; some didn't.

The hoax was caught fairly quickly and alerts issued. MSNBC broadcast the hoax as fact before they caught it. Anyone who watched MSNBC's election coverage couldn't tell any difference in the network's accuracy--either before or after the hoax broadcast.

But we say, whether you wrote or broadcast it or not: it was discovered quickly, so no harm, no foul.

Allah Pundit summed it up pretty well, Video: MSNBC falls for Palin/Eisenstadt hoax

Specifically, this hoax. I’d love to throw stones at them and TNR, but people on our own side were taken in too.

Guys? The post at Shakespeare’s Sister revealing the hoax is linked on the first page of the Google results for “Martin Eisenstadt.” Remember these goofball viral “ads” for Giuliani? Anything look familiar?

The “Harding Institute for Freedom and Democracy”? Named after one of America’s worst presidents, whose term in office lasted two years with zero foreign policy accomplishments?

We'd agree with all of that and add one observation. At least TNR didn't take months to report that they'd been had--unlike the Beauchamp diaries fiasco.

Some of the places commenting on the whole affair--both pre- and post-hoax--are listed below.

One Hoax Remains Unreported by the MSM

At least the Eisenstadt story was exposed early on. Most of the places who reported on it were good sports, such as ACE: HOAX: Martin Eisenstadt Admits He's One of Palin-Smear Leakers; Threatens to "Reveal" More

Now that I put a face to the made-up persona, I can see it seems a bit unlikely that a 28 year old NYC hipster-wannabe is a major McCain foreign policy adviser.

Well, he got me.

TNR Retracts... But refuses to credit Allah for alerting them to the hoax.

Note: A dinky site would notice the Hot Air traffic. Not only is Michael Crowley a dupe (as I was), but now he's a dishonest one, pretending that he discovered the hoax on his own.

The only thing we'd disagree with Ace about is the "dupe" label.

Once upon a time, the media reported news. If the news turned out to be false, they reported that also. Then, the name of the media game became, "We're going to hold stories until every last detail can be confirmed".

Fine.

But that policy then morphed into, "We're going to hold stories that we don't think readers have the finely-tuned understanding and reasoning skills about which to make a judgment".

Finally, that policy became--at many MSM outlets--"We're going to hold stories that we don't agree with or that we think are detrimental to our editorial policy".

That policy was responsible for ABC's refusal to air one minute of coverage on the John Edwards scandal--until Edwards turned up on ABC's Nightline on August 8 and started talking about mistresses and babies and hush money and getting caught in the Beverly Hilton.

Imagine ABC viewers' surprise when they learned that the story had been on-going for ten months and they were kept in the dark.

The New York Times, MSNBC, Washington Post, CBS, and the LA Times, among others, duped their readers/viewers for months during the primary and general elections on any number of unreported topics concerning Barack Obama.

They are duping them still on the issue of climate change, though that will be harder to pull off--especially when their news customers are digging out from underneath three feet of global warming.

So, the Eisenstadt 'confession' about the Sarah Palin leaks was a hoax.

Big deal.

It was quickly exposed in the blogosphere. Meanwhile, the other hoaxes which pass for 'news' in daily Mainstream Media reporting continue.

The Eisenstadt hoax was discovered and reported upon. It's a mistake to think that anyone reporting on the original story somehow had their credibility harmed when they quickly reported that it was a sham story.

The man-made climate change hoax has been discovered, but remains largely unreported in the Mainstream Media.

It's when long-running stories have two sides and readers/viewers only hear one of them from supposed "objective news sources" that credibility--and bottom lines--plunge.

Getting hoaxed? Big deal.

Continuing to report a hoax after there's doubt the story is true?

That's everyday policy at most MSM organizations.

Emanuel Was Director Of Freddie Mac During Scandal

According to a complaint later filed by the Securities and Exchange Commission, Freddie Mac, known formally as the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, misreported profits by billions of dollars in order to deceive investors between the years 2000 and 2002.

Emanuel was not named in the SEC complaint (click here to read) but the entire board was later accused by the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO) (click here to read) of having "failed in its duty to follow up on matters brought to its attention."

MORE DIRT on Sarah Palin from UNNAMED SOURCES

Unnamed "aides" continue to spin the "Sarah Palin is a diva" line, meanwhile the caribou-hunting governor returns to Alaska.

An unnamed source who’s probably Randy Scheunemann told Politico two weeks ago that Schmidt and Wallace would end up being the ones trying to tear Palin down. Whether that’s because the source had reason to believe they’d leak or simply because he/she knew there was bad blood between them and Palin and expected some post-campaign sniping, no one except Politico knows. Two months later, though, I’m unclear how Palin was “overprepared” for questions about what periodicals she likes to read or why Russia’s proximity to Alaska enhanced her foreign policy credentials, as she suggested to Charlie Gibson. Those are the questions that killed her, not anything having to do with, say, naming the deputy prime minister of Kazakhstan.

The LA Times has new dirt too, related mainly to the shopping expenses, and unsurprisingly it’s linked (indirectly) to Schmidt, Rick Davis, and Nicolle Wallace. Here’s an interview she did today in four parts with local radio in Alaska. She is, more than ever, a woman in demand.

Mary Catherine Ham points out the absurdity of the unnamed McCain campaign hachetmen's claims about Palin.

Disgruntled McCain staffers not only require you to believe that the chief executive of the state of Alaska knew nothing about one of her state's most important trading partners, but that she was equally oblivious to the economic winds affecting the industry that provided her very own livelihood. Perhaps they should head to the NYT next, which has a history of employing anyone who has a penchant for writing slam books about Republicans.

This accusation didn't pass the smell test to begin with, but because McCain staffers are requiring us to defend our popular former vice presidential nominee against NYT-like attacks, there are some facts to consider.
--A Few Things You'd Have to Believe to Believe What McCain Staffers Say About Sarah Palin

What she said.

Bill Maher demonstrates to Larry King how hard it is to be fresh and funny when you're repeating what everyone on the Left is saying.

King: Is Gov. Palin the new star of the Republican Party?

Maher: If they're not very bright, she is. I mean, that's going to be the gut check for the Republicans ... what direction are they going to go in now?

Now, I think politicians are usually led by the idea that they want to win elections. And Sarah Palin was a bit of an Alaskan albatross around John McCain's neck -- not that he would have won anyway.
--Maher: There's gotta be something funny about Obama

For those trying to tell the two apart, Larry King wears glasses.

Sarah Palin, McCain Campaign: Scapegoating Sarah Palin

Your Ad Here

The McCain Campaign:
Mistakes, But Hampered Ultimately By Both the Candidate and his Campaign Advisers--Not by Sarah Palin

McCain Campaign is Responsible for McCain's Defeat

Palin Was Attacked from the Inside from Almost the Moment She gave the McCain Campaign their First Realistic Chance at Victory

The McCain Campaign Rats vs. Sarah Palin

FROM GOSSIP TO GOSPEL

The McCain campaign made some shrewd moves, but it also was guilty of some moves that ultimately doomed its unlikely candidate--with the most momentous misstep coming from John McCain himself.

Like any losing campaign, those in charge of the campaign seek to lay the blame for losing on factors beyond their control. In this regard, the long knives came out from various unnamed aides and advisers in the McCain campaign, who are anxious to run from their responsibility for the Election 2008 loss.

Most of those knives appear to have Sarah Palin's name on them--and they were unsheathed before the race for the presidency was even over.

In what can be most charitably described as "resume-polishing", various aides in the John McCain campaign have continued their practice of leaking uncomplimentary "anecdotal" information detrimental to Sarah Palin.

Understand: these "aides", "advisers" and "sources" from "within the McCain campaign", as they're labeled, bear much responsibility for a campaign that, like its candidate, was somewhat unconventional and ultimately failed to win McCain the presidency.

These staffers--most of whom will soon be in the job-hunting market--apparently feel that there's a wider market for an aide from a losing campaign that was sabotaged from within. Stories of an "uncooperative" VP pick inoculates them against any bad decisions made by such "aides" and "advisers".

These aides-gone-rogue merely have to pick up their cellphone or hit "send" on their email--anonymously, by the way--and a waiting press eagerly elevates such grousing and sour grapes from gossip to gospel.

THE McCAIN CAMPAIGN

There is much for which the McCain campaign can be proud.

  • John McCain garnered the fourth-largest vote total for any candidate in history.
His total of 56,497,501 votes were more than any previous losing Republican candidate. It was also the fourth-highest popular vote total in U.S. history.
  • McCain won 21 states with 174 electoral votes.
Included in this total were wins in states in which McCain was outspent by a wide margin. McCain was also competitive in the "battleground" states, losing several by close margins, while winning others.
  • The McCain campaign produced these numbers with a not-unimpressive ground game.
Republicans in general however, voted in less numbers than they did in 2004. Also, there were paticular groups who came down on the side of Obama: wealthy voters across the USA voted for Obama, for instance.
  • John McCain was never a favorite of conservatives--this site included. McCain's "maverick" image was achieved by attacking conservatives and Republicans.
Still, McCain's naming of Palin as his running mate energized conservatives.
  • McCain took a risk and named Sarah Palin as his running mate.
McCain's campaign was staffed with many non-conservatives. The campaign's failure to excite the Republican base was evident prior to the naming of Palin. After Palin, contributions and volunteers came into the McCain camapign from conservatives--many who were prepared to "sit out" this election.

That being said, John McCain was a Republican candidate that the New York Times could love--and indeed, the NYT did endorse the Arizona Senator in the primary election. Of course, after the election, the NYT and the rest of the Mainstream Media deserted McCain, just as many predicted would happen.

JOHN McCAIN: LIB-LITE

Even, the Times' Elizabeth Bumiller is skeptical about the unnamed aides involved in the McCain leaks. From
Internal Battles Divided McCain and Palin Camps
:

As a top adviser in Senator John McCain’s now-imploded campaign tells the story, it was bad enough that Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska unwittingly scheduled, and then took, a prank telephone call from a Canadian comedian posing as the president of France. Far worse, the adviser said, she failed to inform her ticketmate about her rogue diplomacy.

As a senior adviser in the Palin campaign tells the story, the charge is absurd. The call had been on Ms. Palin’s schedule for three days and she should not have been faulted if the McCain campaign was too clueless to notice.

All of the McCain rats prefer to stomp their sour grapes in the darkness.

“I think it was a difficult relationship,” said one top McCain campaign official, who, like almost all others interviewed, asked to remain anonymous.

For her part, Palin has "refused to address the strife within the campaigns. “I have absolutely no intention of engaging in any of the negativity because this has been all positive for me.”"

So the it's the "unnamed McCain advisers" talking to Big Media on one side.

On the other side, there is Sarah Palin--and the millions of like-minded Americans who attended McCain rallies for the sole reason of hearing her speak.

Ann Coulter may be a polemicist, but she distills one of the main problems with John McCain as the Republican messenger: his message was crafted to enhance his credentials among non-Republicans. Every time it was discovered that Obama took an outrageous stand on an issue, more likely than not, John McCain stood beside him.

Republicans lost this presidential election, and I don't blame the messenger; I blame the message. How could Republicans go after B. Hussein Obama (as he is now known) on planning to bankrupt the coal companies when McCain supports the exact same cap and trade policies and earnestly believes in global warming?

How could we go after Obama for his illegal alien aunt and for supporting driver's licenses for illegal aliens when McCain fanatically pushed amnesty along with his good friend Teddy Kennedy?

How could we go after Obama for Jeremiah Wright when McCain denounced any Republicans who did so?

How could we go after Obama for planning to hike taxes on the "rich," when McCain was the only Republican to vote against both of Bush's tax cuts on the grounds that they were tax cuts for the rich?

And why should Republican activists slave away working for McCain when he has personally, viciously attacked: John O'Neill and the Swift Boat Veterans, National Right to Life director Doug Johnson, evangelical pastors Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and John Hagee, various conservative talk radio hosts, the Tennessee Republican Party and on and on and on?

The problem with John McCain's message ultimately was: on most issues, John McCain was Lib-Lite. His foreign policy stands were the most notable differences with Barack Obama.

Otherwise, there was little to choose among the candidates, especially after Obama tacked hard right on taxes and a host of other issues.

The McCain campaign is not responsible for McCain's past stands on the issues: it's the hand they were dealt. But, they are responsible for their candidate and his message.

They are also responsible for John McCain's single cause for defeat.

JOHN McCAIN FINANCIAL MELTDOWN MAVERICK FAILURE

John McCain billed himself as a "maverick", who would fight established interests.

Palin, who had attacked her own Republican Party and entrenched interests in her run to the Alaskan governor's office, could rightly lay claim to the label, "maverick".

During the financial crisis, John McCain had the single example to prove that he was indeed a maverick.

Instead, he suspended his campaign, flew to Washington and voted for an unpopular bailout bill--that will saddle American citizens, their children and grandchildren with a tremendous tax burden for generations to come--that squarely originated from the Bush administration.

When John McCain had the opportunity to walk the walk, he chose--like Barack Obama--to talk the talk.

Instead of calling for investigations into wrong-doers and those responsible, he chose to side with his colleagues in the Senate and House. McCain had been on the right side of reform when he called for the reform of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae in 2006.

His bailout vote relegated that vote to the memory hole. He also lined up with Barack Obama on this particular issue. The siren song of "Bipartisanship" caught the Arizona Senator's ear at a most inopportune moment.

McCain was at that point leading in the polls. Afterwards, his campaign never recovered from John McCain's retreat from maverick to establishment pol.

As Rush Limbaugh observed, "John McCain's campaign staff has spent more time attacking Sarah Palin than it did attacking Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers...and Obama himself."

Among some of the gossip elevated to "news" by the sinking McCain ship mates were claims that Palin was:

  • A shopaholic;
  • Threw tantrums;
  • Didn't know about American exceptionalism;
  • Didn't know Africa was a continent;
  • Just one of the "Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman-Marcus coast-to-coast".

Big Media has proved to be a mouthpiece for all things anti-Republican and anti-conservative. This latest Palin bashing is no different.

THE NUTTY PROFESSOR

Julian E. Zelizer, a professor of history and public affairs at Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School, rehashes Big Media's talking points on how it covered the McCain campaign. Zelizer does so in the guise of listing five "mistakes" the McCain campaign made.

After listing what he considers historical presidential campaign errors, Zelizer reveals more about his point of view than he does about the McCain campaign. In case readers mistake the Newsweek piece for journalism, the second page title reads, "Worst Campaign Ever?" From John McCain's chaotic operation may well rank among recent history's least successful efforts:

But Team McCain ran a campaign that ranks on the bottom of this list. This was an aimless and chaotic operation made worse by poor choices at key moments. Their first mistake was picking Gov. Sarah Palin.

Zelizer's list of other McCain "mistakes":

  • McCain missed the biggest lesson of the Reagan Revolution: conservatives usually do best when they appeal to America's optimism and develop a positive campaign around a vision for the country.
  • The third mistake was the "no-state" strategy. In contrast to Obama's "50-state" strategy whereby Democrats hoped to win support in red states, the Republican ticket moved from one state to the next without any clear rationale.
  • The fourth mistake was the way McCain handled the crisis on Wall Street.
  • McCain's final mistake was to leave his most politically powerful argument until it was too late. While there were many problems with Joe the Plumber, the argument could have been used much more effectively against Senator Obama: that the Democratic ticket was too left of center, especially on the issue of taxes.

Zelizer winds up by giving one last Newsweek touch: "Now, the McCain-Palin campaign will be added to the list of devastated losers." The author also empirically observes, "In contrast, Obama's decisions and performance seemed presidential."

Losing campaigns point fingers. Winning campaigns congratulate each other.

2008 is no different.

However, Election 2008 heralds a year in which the losing campaign's aides and advisers acted like losers--with the leaking of anti-Palin gossip months before the election took place--from almost the very moment that John McCain's naming of Sarah Palin gave them a realistic chance to hope for victory.

Andrew Sullivan vs. Trig Palin: Sullivan's Womb Cage Match

Your Ad Here

Andrew Sullivan:
Writer Relentlessly Tracks Trig Troof

Dauntless Daily Disher Doubts Doctor

Sullivan's Dig to Bottom
Of Troof

Andrew Sullivan continues to his lonely battle over Sarah Palin's ovaries.

Sullivan has written a series of posts outlining his theory that Trig Palin is not Sarah Palin's child, but is actually her grandson. Palin released a two-page medical summary yesterday--which is twice the pages released by presidential candidate, Barack Obama.

Sullivan does mention in his latest gynecological probe post [Palin's Doctor Writes] the absence of any medical records from presidential candidate, Barack Obama.

Obama gave Palin a precedent for this kind of letter as a replacement for records with his equally secretive and brief doctor's note. But at least he did so well ahead of time, and has no serious questions pending about his own health history.

It is not known if Sullivan plans on questioning the parentage of any other candidates' offspring. From another recent Sullivan post, Palin's Medical Records: The Bitter End:

Are you as unsurprised as I am? Two months of begging from this blog and nada. We all know why:

Sullivan quotes disingenuously: "John McCain, Barack Obama and Joseph Biden have all provided details about their medical history."

The release of the candidates' medical records is striking: John McCain gave reporters access for three hours to almost 1200 pages of medical records. Joe Biden gave reporters access to all but brain scan records. Palin released her two-page summary from her doctor.

Obama meanwhile, after almost 2 years of constant campaigning for president, has released a one-page undated letter from a doctor the Obama campaign said would be unavailable for interviews.

We do not know what the Obama medical records would reveal--most likely nothing.

But, from a candidate campaigning for 2 years on issues of "transparency", this seems odd. Combined with the refusal by Obama to release college and university records, there are large gaps in what is known about Barack Obama.

Palin, has been campaigning for about 2 months. During that time, Andrew Sullivan has kept alive the issue of the Palin elephant in womb.

We wish Andrew Sullivan luck in his "begging" for the troof.

Going Rogue: Sarah Palin or CNN?

Your Ad Here

Sarah Palin:
CNN's Peter Hamby Going Rogue?
Who knows?

On August 29, John McCain announced that Sarah Palin as his running mate.

On August 30, CNN announced what type of reporting the campaign could expect from the cable network's Peter Hamby.

Technically factual with a heavy accent on the negative, so as to change the meaning of the story for those who were not present.

Palin booed for mentioning Hillary Clinton:

WASHINGTON, Pennsylvania (CNN) – This might not be the best way to reach out to those disillusioned Hillary Clinton supporters.

In just her second appearance on the campaign trail with John McCain, newly-minted GOP running mate Sarah Palin was showered with boos on Saturday for attempting to praise Clinton’s trail-blazing bid to become the first female president.

CNN Political Producer Peter Hamby was technically factual but grossly misleading: the large, enthusiastic crowd showered Palin with practically non-stop cheers during her appearance with John McCain.

When Palin mentioned Hillary Clinton, there were some scattered boos, quickly replaced by cheering after a few seconds. DBKP knows: we were there. [McCain, Palin a Hit in PA; CNN’s Story Leads with “Boos”]

So Hamby wouldn't have been convicted in a court of law for perjury over his reporting.

Which suggests that readers may want to take his latest story with 55-gallon barrel of salt.

McCain aide: Palin 'going rogue':
From CNN Chief National Correspondent John King, CNN Political Producer Peter Hamby, CNN's Dana Bash

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (CNN) – With 10 days to go until election day, long brewing tension between Sarah Palin and key aides to John McCain has become so intense, it is spilling out into the public.

Several McCain advisers have suggested to CNN they have become increasingly frustrated with what one aide described as Palin “going rogue” recently, while a Palin associate says she is simply trying to “bust free” of what she believes was a mishandled roll-out that damaged her.

So maybe the McCain adviser did make the statement.

Or maybe the adviser said he was "going for some Rogaine" and Hamby didn't catch the whole remark.

Who knows? You twist your report of what happened once--so that others who were there don't recognize it--and your future stories are greeted with skepticism.

No CNN stories have appeared with the headline "Joe Biden "going rogue".

Like the 2-3 seconds of scattered boos that transformed into "Palin showered with boos" back in August, Peter Hamby may be technically correct--but grossly misleading.

So maybe Sarah Palin is 'going rogue'.

Or maybe it's only Peter Hamby, once again, going rogue from an accurate account of what took place.

Mainstream Media and Socialism: The Education of John Q. Public

Leftist decry "socialist" as code for Black
Consevative Punk

The "Racist" Meme Continues

They're reaching on the "code word" smear more and more. You knew it was only going to be a matter of time until some schmuck said that "socialist" is code word for Black. Well, the wait is over. This from The Star in Kansas City:
The "socialist" label that Sen. John McCain and his GOP presidential running mate Sarah Palin are trying to attach to Sen. Barack Obama actually has long and very ugly historical roots.

J. Edgar Hoover, director of the FBI from 1924 to 1972, used the term liberally to describe African Americans who spent their lives fighting for equality.

Those freedom fighters included the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., who led the Civil Rights Movement; W.E.B. Du Bois, who in 1909 helped found the NAACP which is still the nation's oldest and largest civil rights organization; Paul Robeson, a famous singer, actor and political activist who in the 1930s became involved in national and international movements for better labor relations, peace and racial justice; and A. Philip Randolph, who founded and was the longtime head of the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters and a leading advocate for civil rights for African Americans.
This most laughable aspect of this charge, is that author Lewis Diuguid expects us to believe that something like J. Edgar Hoover's use of the word socialist to describe blacks is somehow fresh in the minds of Americans, leading it to be the natural connection we make when we hear the word. Not to mention that W.E.B. Du Bois was in fact a socialist.

Bravo on being the first to the bottom Mr. Diuguid.

Sarah Palin: Thousands Chant "Mine Baby Mine" and "Coal" in Ohio

Mine, Baby Mine!
Palin Joins East Ohio Crowd
In Pro-Coal Chants

"Coal!...Coal!...Coal!"

Democrats and the Mainstream Media talk of a "landslide".

Funny how Sarah Palin continues to roll up crowds in the tens of thousands at campaign stops. Sunday was no different at a Palin campaign stop in Eastern Ohio, near St. Clairsville.

The outdoor venue she spoke at is normally used once a year for the Jamboree in the Hills country music festival which attracts 80,000 people a day.

Local reports describe the "shoulder-to-shoulder" crowd as being "boisterous".

Joe Biden will speak Tuesday only a couple miles from where local reports described Palin as "working the crowd into a frenzy by adopting the phrase 'Mine Baby Mine!'".

Biden will speak at Ohio University's Eastern Campus Tuesday which has a listed seating capacity of 3500.

From Mine, Baby, Mine!:

Palin, the current governor of Alaska, addressed a shoulder-to-shoulder crowd at Brush Run Park just outside of St. Clairsville.

"Mine, baby, mine," the crowd chanted repeatedly - a variation on the "drill, baby, drill" call by Republicans who support off-shore drilling for oil.

"I've never heard that before," said an amused Palin of the coal chant. "Do you mind if I plagiarize that? I'm taking it across the U.S."

Palin had started by telling those present of how Republican presidential candidate John McCain and she will work to bring energy independence to the nation. She referenced wind, solar and nuclear technologies, but the crowd spoke over her.

"Coal ... coal ... coal ... ," they chanted.

"We'll get there, I promise," Palin assured them.

Then she got to the clean coal part of her speech.

"Coal will create jobs where they are needed most - in parts of Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania," she said. "We have more coal in this country than there is oil in Saudi Arabia.

"The question is why aren't we using it?"

Palin referred to recent Biden comments and said Biden believes that "there is no such thing as clean coal"

On September 25 Biden, while also campaigning in Ohio, said that he and Obama "do not support clean coal".
Working the rope line in Maumee, Ohio, the Senator was asked by an environmentalist why he and Mr. Obama support "clean coal." "We're not supporting clean coal," Mr. Biden responded. Then, riffing on China's breakneck construction of new coal plants, he continued, "No coal plants here in America. Build them, if they're going to build them, over there."

Palin again:

"Whether Joe Biden approves or not, John McCain and I are going to develop clean coal technologies here at home," Palin said. "Our plans for coal would create 30,000 new jobs. And trust me, those resource development jobs are good jobs."

Many Democrats were in the crowd--some of them chanting, "Coal!"

Regardless of how many turn out to see Sarah Palin speak, the Mainstream Media will continue to its reports of "landslides" and how Palin is hurting the GOP ticket.

Thousands at her stop near St. Clairsville, Ohio Sunday may beg to differ.

Hillary Clinton PUMAs: Been There, Done That

PUMA Power:
One-Fourth of Democrat Party Used to Being Ignored by Maintream Media

PUMAs are the One Group Who Has Already Gone Head-to-Head Against "The Obama Experience"

* The Mainstream Media Bias
* ACORN Voter Fraud
* The Blog Shutdowns and Intimidation Tactics
* The "Fix is In" Frustration

PUMAs: Been There, Done That

These days, the most energetic investigations, the loudest warnings and the people most experienced with unpleasant Obama campaign tactics come not from the Republican Party, but from a segment of the Democrat Party: the PUMAs.

They represent a significant proportion of the Democratic Party--a portion the Mainstream Media is loathe to acknowledge, let alone report. Some became PUMAs after what they felt was unfair treatment of Hillary Clinton. Some because of the unfair treatment in the media of Sarah Palin. Some because they cannot support a candidate who Joe Biden said "wasn't ready" just months ago--before Biden became Barack Obama's running mate.

Party Unity My Ass (PUMA)

PUMA is a movement born shortly after Hillary Clinton conceded the Democrat nomination to Barack Obama. PUMA blogs and websites almost immediately popped up on the Internet.

* P.U.M.A.
* The Real Barack Obama
* Democrats For McCain
* PUMA
* PUMApac
* The Confluence
* PUMA Women
* Hillbuzz

The above are only the tip of the PUMA iceberg.

A sizable portion of Democrats say they will not support Barack Obama.

From Obama Campaign's National Network Separate from the Democratic Party:

An AP-Yahoo News poll claims that Democrats who backed Hillary Clinton in the primaries are still not warming up to Barack Obama. Fifty-eight percent of Clinton supporters now back Obama.

That was the same percentage who said they backed Obama in a June, when Clinton called it quits and the PUMA (Party Unity My Ass) movement was born.

The poll shows that while Obama has gained ground among Clinton's supporters — 69 percent view him favorably now, up 9 percentage points from June — this has yet to translate into more of their support.

In part, this is because their positive views of Republican presidential nominee John McCain have also improved during this period. Those supporting McCain have also edged up from 21 percent to 28 percent, with the number of undecided staying constant, the survey showed.

That was last month. Have things changed since then?

Hillary Clinton has been campaigning for Obama--and there are plenty of stories that report that the PUMAs practically don't exist.

That message seems to be resonating with Clinton’s former supporters. Interviewed at Friday’s event, a dozen of them said they all had swung behind behind Obama.

Margaret Miller, 64, of Oakdale, Pa., proved to be a typical Obama convert.

“I was very skeptical at first. We heard all the rumors saying he was an Arab, but now we know better,” said Miller, who added: “After getting to know Obama a little better and seeing his outlook for America, I decided he’s the one.”

In other words, the post-primary bitterness that spawned the “PUMAs” — the Hillary supporters whose acronym stood for “Party Unity My (lower part of my anatomy)” — virtually has dissolved.

"Virtually dissolved". Really?

At last count, there were over 230 PUMA alliance member websites.

Then apparently every PUMA runs a website, judging from the number of them.

The above article does concede that "it's been hard" for Clinton to support Obama.

Touting Obama is quite a turnaround for Clinton, who derided the Illinois senator as not much more than a speech-maker during their long primary battle. Clinton also famously ran a campaign ad questioning whether Obama was ready to be president.

Close your curtains, Lock your door's my fellow PUMA's. We're being chased by...by...HOUNDS.

Yup, The same party who Ignored us when we voted for Hillary, and stole delegates from her, and handed the Democratic nomination to NObama (Yup handed.... he didn't win it) Have sent Dog's after us PUMA'S.
--To the Anti-PUMA websites: we still say NO DEAL!!!!

This reminder a few weeks ago from PUMA08 a few weeks ago:

PUMAs,

If and when you get polled, remember to let the pollster know that not only do you intend to vote, but that you are strongly committed to voting for:
Barack Obama

It is extremely important we keep on doing this. Let Obama and his surrogates keep on being lulled into a false sense of security at having a lead in the national polls.
--PUMA Pundit, PUMAs don’t forget to say you are voting for Barack Obama if polled…

If the story of the PUMAs in the Mainstream Media is that they are "virtually dissolved", Steven M. Warshawsky, Signs Pointing To A McCain Victory, takes a different view.

Remember how quickly the MSM jumped off the Hillary Clinton bandwagon and onto Obama's? Remember how annoyed and angry they became as Hillary refused to concede the nomination? The MSM decided that electing the nation's first black, socialist, anti-American president was politically and historically more important (and, for them, more exciting) than electing the nation's first female, socialist, patriotic president. And they are doing everything they can to achieve this goal.

Well, there is another story out there that the MSM refuses to address. A huge story. One that could, and I think will, significantly affect the outcome of this race. I'm referring to the widespread phenomenon of registered Democrats openly supporting John McCain. There are numerous "Democrats for McCain" type organizations. There are numerous websites and blogs written by Democrats touting McCain's candidacy. There are pro-McCain grassroots efforts being led by Democrats. And we all know friends or relatives who are Democrats, who voted for John Kerry in 2004, and who are no fans of President Bush - but who are going to vote for John McCain this year.

Yet, surprise surprise, the mainstream media is not talking about these voters, not talking about the real rift that is occurring within the ranks of the Democratic Party. Needless to say, if a similar rift were occurring in the Republican Party, it would be treated as the major story that it is. (Indeed, as such stories about the political fault lines in the Republican Party have been treated in the recent past.)

Others haven't quite pronounced the PUMAs dissolved, as well.

"...the PUMAs...oppose Barack Obama because they believe, in their hearts, that Barack Obama has amply demostrated, by his tactics and philosophy, that he is simply WRONG FOR AMERICA."
--Ragnar Danneskjold, A Question to the P.U.M.A.s: Barack Obama? Hillary Clinton? WTF???

The PUMAs run a campaign separate and apart from the Republican one. Many produce their own anti-Obama videos and publish lots of information the MSM ignores.

PUMA sites run stories of voter intimidation that don't seem to make their way through the MSM "McCain-Palin: Hate and Racism" meme.

Twenty-five residents of a Gainesville neighborhood woke up this morning to discover their homes had been spray-painted with an obscene comment about the 2008 presidential race. Several businesses were hit as well.

“This is clear voter intimidation,” Corey A. Stewart, At-Large Chairman of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, said. “The residents targeted by these hoodlums all had McCain for President yard signs in their front yards.”

“Having your home defaced with obscenity because of political beliefs is a hate crime” Stewart said, “This is terrorizing the community.”
--Obama followers vandalize homes in Gainesville

The PUMAs have seen it all before during the primaries: the media bias, intimidation and other unpleasantness.

What voter fraud you might ask? Some of the mainstream media still hasn’t asked, or asked enough questions. Some have only just started to ask.

A reader asks …

are you sure you want to do this Barry?

If you do, it could turn up some interesting answers. Like PUMA and Clinton Democrats have been saying all along, it is systematic fraud.

--Of course the voter intimidation and caucus voter fraud relates to the ACORN voter fraud

The PUMAs are also used to every report of unpleasantness being ignored--or worse, whitewashed--by Big Media in the ceaseless MSM drone for Obama.

Democrats vote early in higher numbers than Republicans in almost every state. And that’s not including the big persuasive push by Obama. Logic dictates with all the attention Obama’s put on early voting, that Democrats should be clobbering Republicans right now…if they vote early in higher numbers to begin with, and then Obama’s made a big push for early voting on top of that.

That’s not happening.

Republicans have a slight lead in early voting right now.

Where is all the enthusiasm for Obama the media keeps braying about?

And remember: not all of those Democrats are voting Obama. We know 30 Democrats right here in Chicago who voted early — and voted Republican for the first time in our lives. We bet there’s a higher percentage of Democrats voting Republican in Colorado this year than any year in the past.
--Bad news for Obama in Colorado early voting

For their trouble, some have gotten trouble--from Obama supporters. DBKP knows how this feels.

* Blog Shutdowns: Spam Attack from IPs Assigned to barackobama.com
* Google, Blogger, Obama: Obamanation Shut Down My Blog!

The members of the Party Unity My Ass movement are used to the media misinformation: they remember the press calling--no, begging--for Clinton to drop out of the primary race after a string of early Obama wins. They also remember the MSM predictions of Obama victories in states where Clinton went on to crush the eventual nominee in the primaries.

That's one reason most of the PUMA sites visited for this article are not only skeptical of the MSM polls and reporting, they're convinced the MSM is not telling the truth once again.

Regardless of what the Mainstream press writes these days about them disappearing, the PUMAs have long memories of intimidation, dirty tricks and MSM "reporting". They have lived through one contest where it all occurred.

They're working hard to prevent it from happening twice in the same year.
