OBAMA and Same-Sex Marriage: Obama for It During ILL Senate Run

Same Sex Marriage:
Obama Dances the "Personally Believes" Tango

Obama For Same Sex Marriage Before He Was Against It

Does Barack Obama support same sex marriage?

Depends on who's doing the asking.

The Mainstream Media is reporting--when forced to ask--that Barack Obama opposes same sex marriage.

Obama waffles about on the issue, insisting that he personally opposes--as do the vast majority of Americans--same sex marriage. But when it comes time to state that unequivocally, he fudges about.

Perhaps because he in his first Illinois senate race, he is listed by a Chicago gay-lesbian publication as "supports same sex marriage". Obama's stand on same sex marriage was one reason he got the endorsement of Outlines, a Chicago-based gay paper that merged with the Windy City Times in 2000.

Like so many issues, once Obama has had to appeal for votes of a wider slice of America, his views have changed--at least publicly--180 degrees.

Barack Obama's views on the matter of same sex marriage. The Candidates on Gay Marriage

Obama says that he personally believes that "marriage is between a man and a woman" but also says that "equality is a moral imperative" for gay and lesbian Americans. He advocates the complete repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) because "federal law should not discriminate in any way against gay and lesbian couples, which is precisely what DOMA does." He supports granting civil unions for gay couples, and in 2006 he opposed a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage. In March 2007, Obama initially avoided answering questions about a controversial statement by a U.S. general that "homosexual acts" are "immoral," but Obama later told CNN's Larry King, "I don't think that homosexuals are immoral any more than I think heterosexuals are immoral."
John McCain's views on the mattter.

McCain says marriage should be between a man and a woman and should be regulated by the states. He opposed a federal constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage because "it usurps from the states a fundamental authority they have always possessed." McCain endorsed a 2006 Arizona ballot initiative to limit marriage to be between a man and a woman and said, "I'm proud to have led an effort in my home state to change our state constitution and to protect the sanctity of marriage as between a man and woman." He also supported the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act, which banned federal recognition of gay marriage and domestic partnerships. He supports the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy and says that to "even reopen the issue" would be a "terrific mistake."

Gay and lesbian groups are going saying that discussion of the issue amounts to "fearmongering".

Bilerico Project: Barack Obama supported same-sex marriage in 1996?
"Since we don't have the original questionnaire results, this might have been a response taken out of context that the right is using to fear monger and pick up votes. Obama's been consistent in his opposition to same-sex marriage."

We don't know about all of that. Americans have a right to know where candidates stand on various issues.

Our biggest fear is an uninformed electorate. If Obama is for same sex marriage, that's his right.

A great majority of Americans will disagree with Obama on this point, however.

Barack Obama's past has been placed off-limits to the American public: no medical records, no college records, no university records have been released to the public.

An adoring MSM refuses to ask questions, other than those of the "What's your favorite color?" variety.

Every politically-unpleasant news which disturbs the carefully-packaged image of Barack Obama's shrouded past is dismissed, ignored or whitewashed in the media.

With no record of accomplishments, other than being selected as the Democrat nominee, it's left mainly to the Right half of the blogosphere to inquire and to try and crack the information embargo.

Because the national media seem to have an aversion to asking any questions which the Obama campaign discomfort, don't expect any new information on this topic coming out before the election.

Terence Jeffrey, at Townhall.com, Obama's Mandate for Nationalized Same-Sex Marriage:

In the vice presidential debate, moderator Gwen Ifill asked Biden directly whether he supports same-sex marriage.

"Do you support gay marriage?" she asked.

"No, Barack Obama nor I support redefining from a civil side what constitutes marriage," said Biden. "We do not support that."

Were this actually Biden and Obama's position, they would be for Proposition 8. But they are not.

"If I lived in California, I'd clearly vote against Prop. 8," Biden told DeGeneres.

The actual Obama-Biden position on same-sex marriage goes beyond merely opposing Proposition 8. In fact, their position sets the stage for liberal federal judges to impose same-sex marriage nationwide by forcing states that have passed their own acts in defense of marriage to recognize same-sex marriages contracted in states such as California, where state judges declare a state "right" to same-sex marriage.

Is Barack Obama for or against same sex marriage?

Again, it depends on who's doing the asking.

Jeanette Jenkins, Queen Latifah: Celebrity Gay Marriage

Your Ad Here

It didn't take long for the California Supreme Court's decision to overturn the Golden State's ban on gay marriage to alter the celebrity matrimonial landscape.

According to this week's edition of the National Enquirer, Queen Latifah plans to marry her partner of five years, personal trainer Jeannette Jenkins.

Queen Latifah has been very tight-lipped about her relationship with Jenkins, and told Ebony magazine in 2007 that she would not comment on the rumor that Jenkins was her girlfriend. She didn't deny it, she was just annoyed that she was asked.

“No comment on that at all. I’m done commenting on all that … It’s ridiculous, I know me and that’s all I need to know.

“And if the readers don’t know me, then that’s one part they aren’t going to get to know. Those are my people but they don’t sleep with me,” she says in a very even tone that is very consistent with her relaxed mood. “It feels so invasive. It’s the one thing I don’t think people need to know about.”

According to the Enquirer, the couple are "planning an intimate ceremony with close famiy and friends." They are also reportedly interested in adopting an American baby.

Of course.

Lesbian Alleges Mother is Unfit Because of Christianity

Forty years ago can seem like light years in cultural terms.

Forty years ago, the story of a Vermont lesbian who wanted to take a child away from her biological mother--because the mother was a Christian--would have been unbelievable.

Janet Jenkins, part of a now-sundered lesbian twosome, has alleged that because of Lisa Miller’s (the biological mother) Christian parenting practices, Miller is no longer is a fit mother. Jenkins is seeking full custody of the child.

Miller and Jenkins were a couple before Miller left the relationship and became a Christian. Now, the Virginia Supreme Court has to rule if 6-year-old Isabella, Miller's child, is to be ripped away from her and custody given to Jenkins.
Mathew Staver, chief of Liberty Counsel, said the impact of the decision will reach far beyond the important determination of the future for the child in question, also impacting states' sovereignty and the values on which Christian parents make decisions.

Staver said that the wrong ruling could set Isabella up to be "paraded as a political trophy of the homosexual community in Vermont".
"This case is exceptionally important because the future of [the child] Isabella hangs in the balance," he said. "Her future will be to either remain with her biological mother, Lisa Miller, or potentially be ripped away from her mom and placed in a lesbian household… This case is also important because states must also have the sovereign authority to maintain their marriage policy as the union of one man and one woman, while rejecting same-sex unions. Virginia's Constitution compels the state supreme court to not recognize out-of-state, same-sex marriages and civil unions.

"But if Virginia loses its sovereignty, then the sovereignty of every other state is put in jeopardy," he said.

Vermont's Supreme Court already granted parental rights and visitation to Jenkins. Miller and Isabella live in Virginia and Miller has gone to the Virginia Supreme to defend her right to raise her own daughter as she sees fit.
"This hearing will determine whether a lesbian woman who is Lisa Miller's former partner will share custody of Isabella, Lisa's daughter," wrote Matt Barber, policy director for cultural issues at Concerned Women for America. "The woman is neither an adoptive parent nor is she biologically related to Isabella. In fact, she's a total stranger to the little girl.

"Isabella, who is now 6 years old, hadn't seen this woman since she was 17 months old. This case could have national ramifications and will help decide whether states like Vermont and Massachusetts get to export their radical new definitions of marriage and family around the country," Barber said.

The relationship ended when Miller became a Christian and claimed Jenkins was abusive. Miller, who says she no longer is a lesbian, lives with her daughter in Virginia.

Lower courts in Virginia have ruled Miller is the sole parent and the Virginia Marriage Affirmation Act bars recognition of civil unions. The Vermont Supreme Court, however, reached across state lines to demand that Miller allow Jenkins visitation.

Jenkins alleges that Miller's Christianity is unhealthy and harmful to Isabella
"That's true. Janet Jenkins, in court documents in Vermont, argued because Lisa prays for her daughter and her well-being, and even prays for Janet, that in fact that is not in the best interests of Isabella. She [Jenkins] says because Lisa prays for her daughter, and tells her she's praying to do God's will, Janet has taken the position that … Christianity is harmful to children," Staver told WorldNetDaily.

As pat sums the whole case up: "The woman attempting to gain custody is not the mother in any sense, nor does she pay child support. The 'bad' parenting alleged is the practice of Christianity. The Vermont Court asserts authority over both parties because a 'civil union' was contracted there. The birth and residency of the child was never in Vermont. This case appears to be setup to void traditional 'best interest of the child' standards in favor of 'whatever a gay person wants'"

Forty years ago, the idea that a lesbian could seek to declare a mother unfit because of her desire to raise her daughter as a Christian would have been laughable.

It would be laughable still, if it weren't for the unrelenting legal push for increased rights and privileges for "lifestyle" choices.

Once a particular "lifestyle" is given favored status, what logic would prevent other "lifestyles" from gaining legal standing.

Pedophilia already has its champion in NAMBLA. It's only a matter of time until the North American Man Boy Love Association files suit, alleging discrimination against its "lifestyle".

Or long-suffering farm animal lovers file suit, seeking to extend legal protections to bestiality.

That this discussion is even taking place is viewed by some as a sign of our country's "progressiveness". Others view it as a sign of our culture's degeneration.

Forty years, the Vermont Supreme Court would have explained to Janet Jenkins that there is a reason for civilization's disdain for her "lifestyle"--and most of the reasons had to do with the well-being of children and society at large.

Forty years ago, America would not have been in danger of having a few states with radical courts forcing their decisions on the rest of the country.

Forty years ago sometimes seems forever ago in cultural terms.

Hillary Clinton, Huma Abedin and Handbags

Hillary - The Bag
Fashion & Politics from Cripes! Suzette

Rumors continue to swirl about Hillary's sexual preferences.

The latest and most specific involves her closest aide and "body person", Huma Abedin.

This story is a few weeks old and frankly, it didn't interest me at all because its the same tired speculation about old Hill being a devout and practicing bi-sexual, because there could be only one reason women would spend a lot of time together, right?

But once again, the male dominated Hillary-watchers have failed to determine the true goings on inside the Hillary campaign. And it's so obvious!

Unbeknownst to my reading public, I have been scouring the media outlets, syndicate photographs and video clips of Hillary's appearances to see when and where she carries a handbag.

Handbags, you know, are a particular area of interest for me and I think that close observation can help to identify a theme to the type of bag she prefers or a pattern to where she uses them, and then we will be able to draw some evidence-based conclusions about who she really is.

Consider it to be a counterpart to psychological clues imparted by body language - accessory language! Think what we could deduce from her choice of a banana bag over a clutch, and Heaven help us if she ever turns up with a sling.

But it was not to be. My search for a Hillary Handbag sighting was fruitless. And then this week, the mystery was ended. Both of the issues were at at once cleared up and you were there to witness to it. Observe:

Did you see it or were you too busy writing your own jokes about American flags throwing themselves to the ground in HRC's presence? Watch again as Huma herself enters the frame from the left carrying the mother of all handbags, the Marc Jacobs STAM bag.

Work that satchel, honey.

And she is too - you can judge the heft of it by how she's got enough stuff in there for herself and Hillary with room to spare for one or two small dogs, a SATCOM radio and the nuclear launch codes. See how her left arm is all but immobilized because of the steady bicep flexing necessary to keep that thing up?

And see how she overcompensates for a shifted center of gravity by leaning to the right side? I estimate that bag to clock in at about 14 to 16 pounds, which might not sound like much until you have to cart it around in the crook of your elbow for more than 15 minutes. Hillary's stuff is definitely in there.

No wonder she's always by Hillary's side.

It's not a love connection at all - she's the pocketbook holder. The male pundits didn't figure that out because they do not have necessary heightened level of handbag awareness. If they did, the sex scandal rumors would never have bubbled up to the surface in the first place.

If HRC becomes the Democratic nominee and then wins the presidential election, it's Huma that will be toting around the nuclear football.

She's already got that chain thing ready to attach the bag to herself and has demonstrated that she can be cool and collected during an unexpected event - she never compromises her bag-holding posture or drops that left forearm to put the bag at risk of slipping away.

Now you know.

Hillary Coming Out:
Resume Enhancement?

Hillary Clinton a lesbian? Coming out?

The rumors, whispers and speculation has been heavy this week about the relationship of presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's relationship with her personal aide, Huma Abedin. Supposedly, the Los Angeles Times has a story about a sex scandal involving one of the presidential candidates that it's been sitting on.

The blogosphere's been a-buzz.

RidesAPaleHorse
's take is that it might just be the act of resume enhancement.
Is Hillary merely cementing the Gay/Lesbian vote? It seems safely in the Democrat Party corner. Hillary is the cautious sort, as anyone who's heard her explain her votes on Iraq and Iran or her stand on Gov. Eliot Spitzer's position on illegal immigrant driver licenses in NY can attest.

You'd thought "First Lady" and "Senator" on the resume would be enough.

UPDATE: From September 21, 2007 New York Daily News:

Hillary Clinton officially declared she's not a lesbian - not that there's anything wrong with that.

During an interview with The Advocate to be published next week, Sean Kennedy, the gay magazine's news and features editor, asked the presidential candidate, "How do you respond to the occasional rumor that you're a lesbian?"

"People say a lot of things about me, so I really don't pay any attention to it," Sen. Clinton (D-N.Y.) replied.

"It's not true, but it is something that I have no control over. People will say what they want to say."

Hillary Clinton's Lesbianism:

It Would Set Gay Rights Back 50 Years

Hillary's possible lesbianism: Only whispered about til now?

Hillary Clinton a lesbian?

With her "personal" aide who's been described as "mysterious" and "glamorous"?

The speculation that the former first lady has a thing for ladies has the pundits panting. The rumblings from the edges of the press brigades are gathering force as the smell of scandal to the press is like blood in the water to pirhanas. The story is that the Los Angeles Times is sitting on a major sex scandal involving one of the candidates. Given the fact that if it involved a Republican, it would have appeared well before any facts were fully gathered, attention turns to the Democrats.

Now someone in the government, a Department of Justice official speaks--off the record, of course--at Big Head DC:
“I am close enough to Hillary and [her personal aide]Huma [Abedin] to tell you that this ‘rumor’ is true,” the official says. “It is well known inside her campaign that Hillary and Huma are an item.

“If you call Hillary’s residence in DC first thing in the morning, Huma answers the phone,” the official continues. “Same thing late at night and on the road. It’s a closely guarded secret that Hillary’s inner circle guards at all costs.”

Now the story turns to the argument: Are you born gay or do you "turn"?
Luke Ford makes more observations and sense:
Like the rest of us, Hillary needs love. Unlike the rest of us, Hillary is powerful enough to get what she wants.

Like any woman, Hillary needs hugs and comfort and solace. She’s not had that regularly from Bill for many years. Where’s it coming from? Huma is the source that makes the most sense.
So to sum up, we've got one unnamed source in the Justice Department, an array of bloggers chomping at the bit, plenty of rumors and one L.A. Times story that's supposedly sitting in the hopper. No proof yet, but the story should be the concern in the Gay Community if Hillary turns out have bitten by the love that dares not speak its name.

The mere thought of Hillary being Gaydom's most celebrated spokeswoman should be enough to spark demonstrations in the streets of San Francisco. Anyone tortured by confusion about their sexuality would double over in pain after watching her torture the question of her vote for Iran. To have her explain her position on lesbianism, whether she was one, or was for or against it--doors across America would be slamming as people jumped back into the closet.

Hillary Clinton a lesbian? It would likely set their whole movement back 50 years, minimum.
