D-Day Video Tribute

Tomorrow is the 64th anniversary of D-Day, the day the Allies invaded France. The further we get from June 6, 1944, the easier it is to forget the lessons learned from the failure of Britain and France to address the problem of Nazi Germany--before it became the very large problem of World War II.

RidesAPaleHorse submits these two videos reminding us of the heroism and sheer logistic problems that had to occur before the Allies could declare D-Day a success.

Who is EllaLohan?

How did she know about Vicki Iseman and John McCain before the New York Times published the story?

Very mysterious.

EllaLohan is the name of an apparent video fancier who--weeks before the New York Times released its story about Republican presidential candidate John McCain's alleged affair with Telcom lobbyist Vicki Iseman--was dropping hints of the affair in comments affixed to videos on sites scattered around the Internet.

Mysterious.

She hinted at the relationship between Iseman and McCain which is an " an angle not even Drudge took when it reported on the lobbying angle between Iseman and McCain months ago," as reported on Radar this evening.

The Radar piece tracks some EllaLohan comments:

Here's what EllaLohan wrote on a YouTube video posted by Senator McCain's campaign: "EllaLohan (4 weeks ago): John McCain plus lobbyist Vicki Iseman equals trouble for Republicans. Just ask the New York Times."

Then EllaLohan popped up elsewhere on YouTube with a similar comment for an anti-McCain video: "EllaLohan (1 month ago): i've heard from a bunch of my d.c. friends that mccain is doing special favors for a female lobbyist, who's returning the favor, if you catch my drift. this is the story that his lawyers are trying to prevent the new york times from writing. he's a crook just like the rest of the politicians."

Ella has some knowledge of the coming John McCain-Vicki Iseman story. The question is: How did she know?

The only info found on the mysterious EllaLohan's YouTube profile is her gender—female—and age—40.

Is she an insider who couldn't resist hinting at what she really knew or Drudge clicker with a keen ability to read between the lines? Or better still a Times employee dissatisfied with the paper's hold on the article? Attempts to reach EllaLohan have not been successful.

DBKP attempted to track down EllaLohan.

Attempts by DBKP to contact her have, so far, proved fruitless.

And that's kinda mysterious.



Ella also commented on a video by Electric Light Orchestra last week, but there was no politics in that one. She wrote, "It is the Sainte-Chapelle, a 13th Century royal chapel built in Paris under Louis IX."

Not so mysterious on that one.

But here's a several comments she posted--weeks before the story broke--that we were able to run down on videos sites.

So who is EllaLohan?

Is she someone who dug up the info on Iseman and her long-standing relationship with John McCain after reading a December 20 2007 Drudge report posting?

Is she Marilyn W. Thompson, the Times reporter on the Iseman-McCain story who was reportedly so upset at the Times sitting on the story that she left and is heading back to the Washington Post?

Is Thompson a video buff?

Is she interested in Mitt Romney windsurfing videos?

Will EllaLohan reveal more about how she knew what she knew when she knew it?

Will she leave the answer to that question posted on a video?

We will probably never know the answers or the identity of the mysterious EllaLohan.

And that's probably just the way she'd want it.

Vicki Iseman Alcalde & Fay website bio and picture update: The information on lobby firm, Alcalde & Fay's website about partner, Vicki Iseman, has now reappeared. The information disappeared from the A&F site shortly after the New York Times story appeared on the Times website. Numerous sites had screenshots of the bio and picture of Iseman, however. Another mysterious occurrence.

Mix-and-Match John McCain's Ever-Shifting Stand on the Issues

Straight Talk--or Else!

Those who have followed John McCain's political career have noticed the number of times the Senator has "misspoke", "been misquoted" or "been taken out of context". This does happen to any public figure, but in McCain's case, the number of times this happens is approached perhaps only by the Clintons.

So that we can't be accused of a "hit piece", we'll let John McCain's own words do most of the talking in this post.



An outstanding two minute documentation of John McCain's stand on basic issues. These are not hair-splitting issues, these are basic, fundamental ways a person thinks.

Apparently, the way John McCain thinks depends on the reaction he thinks he'll get.

As such, his principles are up for debate--sometimes in a matter of seconds.

Here he changes his position on Iraq in 47 seconds.



Next, on Ethics Reform.



The arrogance of the Arizona Senator shows through in this soundbite, as he states "we will have to determine which conservative groups are legitimate".

Apparently, those who agree with John McCain stand a much better chance of obtaining his blessing for legitimacy.

Although we agree with John McCain's foreign policy--at least what he says he says his foreign policy is at the moment--we also think that John McCain is foremost and first, a politician.



McCain's record on the pro-life issue is no more clear than on the issues above.

And, as always when talking about McCain, his sheer arrogance when talking of those who disagree with him is breath-taking.

Whether the issue is abortion or last summer's immigration debate, when you disagree with John McCain on principles, he assumes that you--like himself--doesn't have any that aren't up for negotiation or discussion. Any disagreement is portrayed as either a calculated decision or racially motivated.

But what's his stand on wildlife?


If you don't like McCain's stand on an issue, wait awhile.

It's sure to change.

Paraphrasing what Joe Biden said about Rudy Giuliani, ""There's only three things he mentions in a sentence: a noun, and a verb and when he was a prisoner of war".

And if the reader thinks that this is an unkind assessment, here is his statement today on Roe v. Wade' anniversary.

"I join you today in marking the 35th anniversary of the tragic Roe vs. Wade decision made on January 22, 1973. I salute you for taking the time to show that the cause of Life is alive and well in the hearts of millions of Americans.

As a prisoner of war at the hands of a communist dictatorship, I saw firsthand the perils faced when human dignity and human life are not respected."

We could go on--and we may at a later date delve deeper into the Senator's shifting stands on particular issues--but this is enough for now.

As we said, we agree with Senator McCain's foreign policy: he's been steadfast in his support of the War on Terror.

It's just a question of whether that position, like so many others, is open for negotiation when things get tough politically.

Scandal grows how much bigger?

The latest update from the John Edwards Love Child Scandal story has come out from the National Enquirer.

It describes what happened when Enquirer reporters asked Andrew Young, the supposed father of Rielle Hunter's unborn child, about Rielle and Young's identity.

And no one has denied the source's information that Rielle has been in phone contact with Edwards since finding out she is pregnant.

When ENQUIRER reporters contacted Young in person at his home on Dec. 12, he became furious — and denied he was Andrew Young.

He also denied knowing "any Rielle Hunter," yelling at the top of his voice: "You don't even know who I am!" But when his wife called him "Andrew," he shot her a dirty look.

An enraged Young called police, demanding our reporters be arrested for trespassing. Officers from the Chatham County (N.C.) Sheriff's Department responded, questioned everyone and made no arrests.

While controversy swirls around her, Rielle — a wannabe actress who by her own admission was a drug-using New York party girl in the '80s — stayed in touch with Edwards.

"Rielle told me that she remains in phone contact with John, but can't see him for obvious reasons," said the source close to her.

While the above is interesting, we're still betting there's more to come.

In the meantime, Little Baby Ginn couldn't get this question off her mind.

"Why does a woman quit supporting herself and

move several states away, just because she's pregnant?"

Our question is much more mundane:

"What compelled Rielle Hunter, supposedly a woman who
did a little bit of work for the Edwards' campaign that
was finished in December 2006, move to within 5 miles
of Edwards' campaign HQ in 2007?

Our last question for now:

What else does the National Enquirer know
about John Edwards and Rielle Hunter?

We bet they're can't wait to tell us.
