Same Old KOSdog, No New Progressive Tricks

How are you going to keep the KOSsacks down on the farm, once they've seen the John Edwards Love Child Scandal?

DBKP praised whack-left website, DailyKOS, on Friday [John Edwards Scandal: DailyKOS Readers Now Know; Others Remain In the Dark for writer/video producer] for letting their readers in on the John Edwards Scandal, via Lee Stranahan's four KOS diary posts.

DailyKOS readers are free to now debate the facts of the case since Stranahan started posting on the scandal. They’ve been given that right by a writer who reported on a story that the Mainstream Media not only refused to investigate, but refused to report on others who had.

Guess we spoke too soon. The progressive KOS-aratchiks pulled the plug on Stranahan's diary the day after our story came out. He is now persona non grata at the People's Republic of KOS.

In a title worthy of a '50s pulp [I've Been banned from DailyKOS because of John Edwards], Stranahan--at his own blog, Stranahan dot com--writes:

About a week ago, I posted a piece on the Huffington Post called Say It Ain’t So, John. I didn’t think it would have much more impact than my usual posts…maybe a dozen comments or so, a couple of people linking to it. I cross posted on DailyKos, which is probably the best known and biggest progressive blog. I’ve been posting at Kos for a long time. As more news about Edwards has come out, I followed up with more posts which were also the subject of a large number of comments. All of them looked at the Edwards situation from my point of view; that is, a liberal who is concerned about the implications this story may have in November.

Now I’m banned. I can’t write about ANYTHING at Kos. Can’t comment, can’t post a non-Edwards piece. Nothing.

The KOS assault on free speech, while sad is expected. But, watching the veil slowly lift from Stranahan's eyes on how proud progressives behave when confronted with unpleasant speech made us think of the finale of Old Yeller.

"I’m not sure if the DailyKos is going to take down my writing and make me a complete un-person there", wonders Stranahan.

At DailyKOS--as in another progressive paradise, the U.S.S.R.--speech is only free if you toe the party line.

Otherwise, there's a price to pay for your speech. Apparently, Stranahan's diaries were too unpleasant for DailyKOS strongman, Markos Moulitsas, whose bill for Stranahan's speech came due Saturday.

As there are always two sides to these kinds of stories, I look forward to receiving some nasty e-mail messages from Markos Moulitsas telling me how I've completely misinterpreted Stranahan's excommunication. Stay tuned.

Petition to Ban Islam to be Presented to World Court

We got an email within the last hour, notifying us that there was a petition to Ban Islam, "that will be presented to the World Court".

It was signed by "Mystic".

It has been pointed out to us that "this will only make the moderate Muslims mad" and also that "you can't fight people who blow themselves up with petitions".

That may very well be.

Or, It might be a desperate attempt to "work through the system".

But, there's something to be said about ingenuity and PR, and we'd guess that's what the petition is apt to get: attention.

Attention to what some feel is a growing problem in some sectors of Europe.

Whatever it's intent, a copy of the petition's wording is presented below, as well as some links for anyone interested in signing it.

Like we said before, whatever it's intent, the petition is sure to be condemned: by some for being "hate" literature; others, for not going far enough.

Saudi Arabia Bans Sale of Red Roses

Valentine Day's Ban includes the color RED



Saudi Arabia's religious police are at it again--this time banning the sale of red roses and red gifts in the run-up to Valentine's Day.

The Saudi killjoys, famous for beating women and recently for strip-searching an American mother of three for sitting in a Starbucks with a male colleague, must figure that Valentine's Day is a infidel evil plot.

The ban is specific for Valentine's Day and will be lifted after February 14.

Officials from the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice warned flower and gift shops to remove all red items, including roses and wrapping paper, from their shelves.

"They visited us last night," an unidentified florist told the Saudi Gazette. "They gave us warnings and this morning we packed up all the red items."

In Riyadh, the ban came into force on Sunday and will remain until after February 14.

It's a leap to be sure, but the authorities believe the celebration of Valentine's Day is un-Islamic and can encourage out-of-wedlock sexual relations, which are strictly forbidden in the Saudi kingdom.

The crackdown has pushed up the price of the flowers on the black market, with some florists making deliveries in the middle of the night, the paper said.

Couples defying the ban placed orders for red roses weeks before the deadline. Some were sending online Valentine's cards, and others were planning to celebrate the day in neighbouring countries, such as Bahrain, which has a more liberal approach to Islamic law.

Apparently, something about Valentine's Day makes the Saudi Religious Police see red.

Cartoon Network Bans Speedy Gonzalez

Speedy was always one of our favorites growing up, with the fastest kids always wanting to be Speedy whenever we were playing outside. He always put one over on the slower, but larger, cats.

And now, the Cartoon Network is banning the "fastest mouse in all of Mexico", for fear offending Hispanics. What? They ought to give Speedy a parade! Smart, fast and cool--that's Speedy.
