Dog the Bounty Hunter: Dog's Son, Tucker Chapman Back in the Slammer

"Instant Karma's gonna get you."
--John Lennon song

DBKP has just learned that Tucker Chapman, the son of Duane "Dog" Chapman who, many contend, sold out his TV star father, has been arrested for violating multiple terms of his parole.

Drugs and associating with know felons are reportedly the causes for his return to the slammer. An earlier mention of blackmail could not be substantiated at this time.

Tucker Chapman sold the tape to the National Enquirer of his father uttering a racial slur during a perceived private phone conversation.

"Dog the Bounty Hunter" was pulled from the A & E Networks line-up, the show suspended, and in the aftermath, many of the shows fans were none too happy with Tucker Chapman and his girlfriend, Monique Shinnery.
A spokeswoman for the Bounty Hunter and his family this morning confirmed the arrest, which was first reported by TMZ. The TMZ report said Tucker Chapman is at the Oahu Community Correctional Center.

Mona Wood, spokeswoman for Duane and Beth Chapman, said the couple is currently in Los Angeles and will return to Honolulu this week and are not planning further interviews.

Duane Chapman said after he learned that his own son sold the taped conversation to the Enquirer, that "he still loved his son."
Excerpts from TMZ report about Tucker Chapman follow:

Here's what went down: Our sources say two weeks after the tape surfaced, Dog learned Tucker was using drugs and threatened to expose him to his parole officer. Then the tape dropped -- interesting timing.

After that, we're told, a parole officer made Tucker check in to a rehab facility, which, we hear, Tucker walked away from.

Sources tell us Tucker's parole officer executed a surprise home inspection this week, and didn't like what he found. The PO then brought Tucker in on Friday, revoked his parole and sent him to the slammer. Among his alleged violations -- associating with known felons, failing a drug test and walking away from a rehab facility.

TMZ also released a statement it said received from Dog Chapman: "I am heartbroken that this has occurred, but I am relieved that my son in now in a place where he can no longer hurt himself. To my bruddahs in the system: please don't hurt my son as he knows not what he does. I love my son and wish him the best."

Last week, A & E announced that the popular "Dog the Bounty Hunter" was back in production and new episodes would be airing later this year.

The Bounty Hunter has been about second chances and he was ready for his. Production was supposed to restart this week, according to TMZ.

So, "Dog the Bounty Hunter" is back in production.

And, Tucker Chapman is back in jail.

And that's as it should be, according to many fans of the TV reality series.

Dog the Bounty Hunter: Christmas Greetings to DTBH Fans from DBKP

A little Christmas wish from everybody at DBKP to all the many fans who've read our stories, sent us interesting emails or left passionate comments.

In case you've noticed the lack of Dog stories the last couple of days (if you don't include yesterday's story of DBKP being labeled "White Supremacists" for our comments), don't fret.

As someone in the Dog's camp commented earlier this week, "Let everyone concentrate on the holidays. Let the Chapmans concentrate on the holidays, too."

Amen.

Unless a comet strikes the Da Kine Bail Bonds building during the next 10 days, we're gonna honor that wish.

We wish the Chapmans, their many fans and all the good folks who've followed their exploits here a very "Merry Christmas!"

We also wish everyone "Peace" throughout the upcoming year.

More Fake White Liberal Outrage: The Rehabilitation of Duane "Dog" Chapman

Political Party Poop's Snoop Takes On
A Tiresome, Predictable, Outraged Liberal
in
"More Fake Liberal Outrage:
The Rehabilitation of Duane "Dog" Chapman"

Political Party Poop's Snoop offers "Ellen" some breakfast

DBKP asks Political Party Poop's Snoop for his opinion on Newshounds' Ellen dissing CORE's Roy Innis over Dog the Bounty Hunter's Duane Chapman.

Boy, did he give us his opinion!

INTRO: Duane "Dog" Chapman, Dog of TV's Dog the Bounty Hunter, had his phone conversation with a son taped and sold to the National Enquirer. During the conversation, Chapman repeatedly used a racial slur. Arts and Entertainment Network then pulled the show from its line-up.

In the intervening weeks, a chastised Chapman has sought out civil rights leaders, black charity groups and others in continuing effort to not only rehabilitate his image, but also to honestly change, what he's called "hurtful" behavior and words with which he heard and used while he was a youth.

DBKP has written of the Dog's journey and his attempts to make amends for using, again what he called, "words that hurt".
* Civil Rights Pioneer To Mentor Dog
* Black Group BOND to Sponsor Toy Giveaway, Dog
* Dog the Bounty Hunter Gives Under-Privileged Kids $26,000 of Toys
* Rumors Rumble about Dog's Return

After Roy Innis, national chairman of CORE (Congress of Racial Equality) announced last week that he and others at CORE had met with Chapman and agreed to help mentor Dog, an article appeared at a website called "Newshounds".

An appearance with Sean Hannity, on Fox's Hannity & Colmes, the other night, ignited a reliable source of renewable energy: fake white liberal outrage. Hence, the Newhounds' article.

In the article, the author--"Ellen"--takes Roy Innis, a man who has battled police brutality and has lost 2 sons to criminal gun violence, to task for talking to the Dog. She also rakes Sean Hannity for "racism" or sympathizing with racists, or something.

White Supremacist Sympathizer Sean Hannity Helps Duane "Dog" Chapman Rehabilitate His Racist Image offered that "Hannity was helped out in that regard by the dubious “civil rights pioneer” Roy Innis and his son, Niger."

Interesting.

Ellen provides many services at "Newshounds". In the above article, she offers her opinion of Roy Innis,a man who battled real racist from the time he joined CORE's Harlem chapter in 1963.

That was almost 44 years ago, in which time, Innis tackled the NY state public school authorities to provide equality of funding for black schoolchildren in Harlem, as well as taking on the NYPD over the issue of police brutality.

Against this 44 years of toiling in the trenches for CORE and its causes, we place the words of "Ellen", of Newshounds.

We're not sure what "Ellen" has been doing the last 44 years. Who knows? Maybe she was battling the NYPD also. Maybe she was riding in buses meant only for whites.

Oh, sorry, Ellen.

Ellen offers another service besides her critique of black civil rights leaders.

She offers the service of "Watching Fox News, so you don't have to". That's the slogan at "Newshounds". Ellen watches, then ostensibly tells her readers what Fox News said, saving her readers the valuable time they may have spent thinking for themselves.

A third valuable service is provided by "Ellen". That service is the dispensing of faux white liberal moral outrage.

When we read her "outrage" at 'Newshounds' we were wondering what our friend Snoop, who runs Political Party Poop, thought. So we asked Snoop to take a look at Ellen's piece and let us know what he thought of it.

Now, anyone who has read PPP knows that asking Snoop his opinion is a somewhat risky thing, because when you ask, Snoop will tell you what he thinks.

You might not like what he says.

But we asked him and he agreed. When we first read what he'd written, we sat, transfixed by his analysis of Ellen's "outrage" at her targeted band of racists: Duane "Dog the Bounty Hunter" Chapman, Roy Innis and Sean Hannity.

This intro is a lot longer than we had planned, but Snoop's piece is powerful stuff.

Below are selected portions of Snoop's thoughts on Fake White Liberal Outrage. You'll have to head over to PPP and read the entire piece. We're gonna clue you in: you'll be glad you did.

Political Party Poop

More Fake Liberal Outrage: The Rehabilitation of Duane "Dog" Chapman

[excerpts]

"The individual who hammered out this shining example of fake white liberal outrage, after posting this particular story, I bet felt vindicated in some way; proud and believing that by her shining a light on the disgraceful racist Dog Chapman and his racist support network (comprised of Sean Hannity and Roy Innis) we would no longer be fooled by the notion that this hateful racist can be rehabilitated and in particular that we would remain angry at the professional racist Hannity who provides safe sanctuary to racists everywhere.

After all, she is sure that those of us on the right, and particularly networks like Fox, promote racist values."
This hack sites tag line: “We watch FOX so you don’t have to.” Can you imagine anything as outrageous as a website devoted to telling you what to think about a given topic?

"Anywho, Hannity and Innis in an attempt at rehabilitating Chapman’s image have obviously touched a nerve in the white liberal “protect a darkie” community.

First of all - do I personally think the Dog Chapman is a racist? I’m not sure, maybe, but frankly I don’t give a shit."
The “bring a Negro” home to mommy and daddy scenario is one that a growing number of families must struggle with. It was a struggle with Mrs. Snoop’s parents, her father in tears at the notion that his wonderful first born lawyer daughter would marry some rogue Negro. It drove the man to tears, and not tears of joy.
I’m sure I was not the first and won’t be the last Negro introduced to skeptical white parents.

"As for Chapman’s tirade on his son’s relationship, I never found his N-word rants as objectionable as most people seem to.

Certainly if the majority of you white folks reading this particular piece were to have every private conversation scrutinized a great number of you would be guilty of what I would guess would be called racial insensitivity.

I spent a lot of time out on the front steps of many homes upon my arrival because I was not allowed in many homes in my new neighborhood in Oakland amongst the lily white commune who believed that they insulated themselves from those unacceptable Negros that populated the city.

These individuals were your typical white liberal types in the Bay Area that would proudly tell you that they gave their all in support of “black” causes. However, when it came to their families and personal lives they wanted to be as far away from these Negros as possible."

Chris Rock said in a memorable stand up routine that “there are black folks and there are Niggas” and like him, I hate me some Niggas.
I’m certain that I would find most of the “Niggers” that Chapman dealt with as contemptible as he obviously did, hence his ambivalence towards “some” black people.

The individual who wrote the above article seems to take issue that anybody, particularly an individual like Roy Innis who was active in the civil rights movement, would so eagerly come to the Dog’s defense, not to mention that a “white supremacist sympathizer” like Sean Hannity would also come to his defense and try to make excuses for Dogs racist tirade.

"Liberal racists, both white and black, focused on separatism and racial difference. Instead of subscribing to MLK’s belief in a color-blind society, they pushed for government policies that were color-coded. The further America progressed from the dark days of slavery, the more they insisted that slavery was present throughout America’s social institutions and its personal interrelationships.

America was steeped in blood and guilt; it must pay for its crimes against Negros everywhere, so they are compelled to come to the rescue many times in the literary sense as did this Ellen character.
These are the individuals who populate the majority of America’s newsrooms and comprise websites like Newshound and Media Matters.

For me I took to heart at an early age Dr. King’s notion that people should be judged by the content of their character rather than the color of their skin. Nevertheless, white liberal types have marginalized this notion as quaint and naive."

Whew!

The entire piece has to be read to be fully appreciated. Whether you are a fan of Dog the Bounty Hunter, of conservative or liberal persuasion, Snoop puts into writing what people of all colors have said to DBKP in their many emails to us.

Snoop just didn't mince any words.

And that's why we hope that this is not the last time we'll see him here. Snoop's also got a ton of hilarious pix and graphics at PPP.

And don't forget, he's the recipient of the "2006 Angry Negro Award" awarded by the White Liberal Hunters Society.

Dog the Bounty Hunter: Rumors Rumble About Dog's Return

Is Dog the Bounty Hunter headed back to the TV airwaves?

Could be, if the wags at TMZ are correct.

Neither Dog's camp or A & E Network could be reached for comment.

The "Dog the Bounty Hunter" was a mainstay of Arts and Entertainment Network's line-up and many fans have vowed not to watch the network until the Dog's show returns to the airwaves.

The following piece showed up at TMZ a couple of hours ago is any indication.
Duane "Dog" Chapman looked relaxed and happy, taking a break from his Tour of Contrition '07 for a little R&R last night -- could it be because his show is on its way back on the air?

Sources tell TMZ that the network is very pleased with the progress Dog has made with African-American leaders, but nothing has been decided yet about the return of "Dog the Bounty Hunter."

Meanwhile, we spotted Dog kicking back -- and throwing some shakas -- at a housewarming party for designer Christian Audigier. Chill, brother!

We've chronicled the fall and chastisement of Duane "Dog" Chapman at DBKP and how fans have rallied around the rough-and-tumble star of TV's Dog the Bounty Hunter.

We've also wrote about his good faith efforts to educate himself and overcome some of the habits from his rough youth.

Additionally, we've been impressed by the reaching out by Afro-American groups to the Dog. These groups, such as Brotherhood of a New Destiny in the Los Angeles area and Congress of Racial Equality in New York, have used this episode to educate, not only the Dog, but America at large, about the power of words.

Roy Innis, one of the original Freedom Riding civil rights pioneers, is mentoring the Dog and will be trying to answer any questions Duane Chapman has as he struggles to forge a new future from a rough past.

And if there's anyone who's familiar with struggles--it's Roy Innis.

Brian McLaughlin, a CORE spokesman, was equally impressed with the Dog's attitude.
"Duane Chapman was contrite and offered no excuses. He didn't try to waffle. He was genuine. He said 'I was wrong'. The feeling here was that Dog was a 'man's man' by owning up to his actions and wanting to change."

Jesse Lee Peterson, founder of BOND, seemed equally impressed with Dog's sincerity.
“We don’t condone racial slurs, but upon hearing Dog’s apology and after meeting with him and his family, we don’t believe he’s a racist. We also believe that Duane “Dog” Chapman sincerely wants to make amends to the black community, and deserves a second chance.”

These groups have used the whole Dog episode to raise a discussion about a lot of good points.

One of those points is forgiveness and redemption.

Dog Chapman will be in L.A. tomorrow, signing books, meeting fans and helping BOND raise money at the group's toy giveaway for kids. All the proceeds from Dog's appearance will be donated to the BOND Home for Boys, a worthy cause if ever there was one.

Whether the Bounty Hunter gets his show back or not, he's learning an important lesson: the power of words.

As someone close to the Dog stated: "Dog hurt his fans and he never, ever wanted to hurt his fans. If he had stopped and thought that what he was saying was hurtful and would have made his fans hurt, I think it would have stopped him in his tracks right then and there."

So the Duane "Dog" Chapman appears to be on the right track.

As we stated, if TMZ is to be believed, rumors are rumbling that he may make it all the way back to the TV airwaves.

Different groups have stated what many fans have stated in email to DBKP: that deep down Dog is a good man, not a racist.

At the end of the day, it may be that single fact, that Duane Chapman was a good, though in the case of his exposed phone call, ignorant, man.

That single fact may be what saved Dog the Bounty Hunter: that Duane Chapman is at heart a good man.

Dog the Bounty Hunter: Big Rumblings from the Rumor Mill

There has been no news on the Dog the Bounty Hunter. All the news lately has been of the different efforts of the Dog's fans in their quest to get the Dog the Bounty Hunter show back on the airwaves.

So, we scoured and called and wrote. What we came up with was rumblings and rumors.

But, several of the rumors we heard, we heard in more than one place--from more than one source. So we thought that we'd present some of the things we heard and let the readers decide what they thought.

Maybe some of you have heard the same thing, or have information that we don't have.

Here's some of what we heard after a day of Dog info hunting and what we think about it. We know the readers won't be shy about what they think.

[Truth-O-Meter Ratings: 0 (it's probably a lie) to 10 (bet the ranch)]

* The Dog's been laying low.
Not much of a rumor here. It's a fact. Duane "Dog" Chapman has been out of the spotlight for several weeks now.

This is not very surprising, either. In Dog's case, "No News is Good News" right now.
[Truth-O-Meter Rating: 10.0]

* The Dog will be back in the public eye soon..
Again, this bit of information is easy to believe. The Dog won't stay hidden forever and has got to surface again sometime.

How soon is soon?

For many fans of the Bounty Hunter, it can't be soon enough. One of the common themes, in both comments left at this site and emails we've received, is that people feel a hole has developed in their regular TV viewing habits without their weekly 'dose of Dog'.
[Truth-O-Meter Rating: 8.5]

* The 'Dog the Bounty Hunter' show will not in the future and may never return to the airwaves.
We don't believe this. We don't believe anything in the world of TV, driven as it is by ratings, is set in stone. Duane Chapman's show was popular and a mainstay in the A & E Network's line-up.

This was one rumor we heard only one time. And we don't even like the guy who said it.
[Truth-O-Meter Rating: 3.0]

* There has been a "reaching out" to Dog by Afro-American groups.
This one we can believe. From the amount of email and comments we've received from ordinary black folk, there is a great rolling of eyes about what Dog said: but no acrimony, and certainly no hatred.

A great majority of our mail begins, "I'm non-Caucasian and you can tell that Dog is not a racist. He shouldn't have said what he said, but he didn't say it in anger." Or some variation of those thoughts.

If memory serves, there was no outcry against Dog and what was said during his private cellphone conversation by Black America.

Make no mistake: they were not happy, but judging from what we read, they shrugged their shoulders and shook their head at a man using ill-considered bad language.

The outcry came from certain White Americans eager to throw another person under the Political Correctness bus. This outcry came from the same quarters that attempts to stifle speech on college campuses, shout down disagreeable opinions and speakers and regulate Internet bloggers.

To them, this had nothing to do with Dog the Bounty Hunter; many of them wouldn't know Dog Chapman from a carburetor. Duane Chapman was only a means to an end.

Muzzling the Dog was their way of flexing their PC muscles.

Thankfully, those people are a small, if noisy, segment of the American population.

This rumor has substance because: Black or White, no one likes to see a person get railroaded. And Duane Chapman got railroaded.
[Truth-O-Meter Rating: 7.5]

* Duane Chapman hasn't so much as swore in the last month.
As unbelievable as this might be when first heard, we heard this from multiple sources. Dog is trying hard to clean up his whole language act.

We smiled the first time we heard this; our eyes opened wide, the second time; but the third time, well, what could we say?

As one source told us, "the Dog causing hurt and heartache among some of his fans really hit home with him on the need to clean up his language. He kept saying he was going to clean it up, but I'd heard that before."

"But this time--he accepted the challenge. I'm not saying he won't ever slip up ever again--he's human--but I haven't heard him swear in over three weeks."

One source even told us the Dog's swear-free and said "I swear it!"

After hearing this from three different people, we tend to believe it: after all, if it wasn't true, the National Enquirer would have had it on their front page by now.
[Truth-O-Meter Rating: 8.0]

* The Dog and Beth are getting a divorce over this whole mess.
I think this guy got Dog confused with another TV show star.
[Truth-O-Meter Rating: 2.0]

So that's it. After a whole day spent on the phone, this is what we dug up.

There was a few other things, but we're going to be doing some more checking on those items over the weekend.

Has anyone heard any of these? Does anyone have any additional information to offer? We'd like to know!

In the meantime, one source had this to pass on to Dog's fans: "Keep your chin up and your ears open."

Dog the Bounty Hunter: Today's the Day We Send the "Bring Back Dog" Petition to AE Network

Today's the day.

After 2 and 1/2 weeks, we're sending our "Bring Back the Dog" Petition into Arts and Entertainment Network, complete with all of your comments.

Dog supporters have sent us [at latest count, at all locations] over 400 pages of comments, pleas and emails.

All are overwhelmingly in favor of a return to the airwaves of the "Dog the Bounty Hunter" TV show.

We are going to send in the petition and the attached names and comments by email today and follow it up with mailing the printed out pages to A & E.

We know we could have collected more signatures if we would have left the petition up longer. And many of you asked us to do that.

But we felt that it was important to start the ball rolling in Dog's favor.

We will be putting another petition up in the near future. Our purpose it twofold: we want to keep the pressure up on A & E Network and we want to keep the Dog's situation alive in the minds of his supporters.

We have some other ideas in the works also--but they're not ready yet.

If you have an idea on how we can better make your voices heard, drop us an email.
Send your idea to mondoreb@gmail.com.

We'll be contacting others who've posted online petitions in an effort to report on how their efforts are going.

Dog the Bounty Hunter:

Dog's Fans Go On Offense,
A Rally, Petitions, Pineapples and a Boycott

Dog the Bounty Hunter's fans are playing offense with the A&E Network. Dismayed over A&E's pulling of "Dog the Bounty Hunter", fans are letting the network know just exactly how they feel about the decision.

Petitions to reinstate the show are circulating all over the Internet. There are six listed at the end of this story. If you haven't registered your support for the Bounty Hunter, there's no time like the present.

The DBKP petition will be sent off to the Art & Entertainment Network in a little over three days. The same petition is posted at a couple other locations. All three will be consolidated and sent in one long email to A&E, along with any comments by the signers.

We are also going to be following up with a phone call to A&E to make sure the right person received it and to gauge any reactions.

If there's a spare pineapple around the house, you might consider sending it to A&E as a statement of support for the Dog. Or you might send a fresh one along.

More information on this novel approach from "Pineapple Drive to Save Dog the Bounty Hunter":

As Fans of Dog the Bounty Hunter and Duane "Dog" Chapman we feel that we have no choice but to fight for what we believe in and that's for Dog. We sprang into action the moment news of him being pulled from A&E's television schedule hit the airways. This never should have happened. There is one thing that no one counted on: the fans. We are many and loyal to Dog, no matter what. All we want is our Dog back on television where he belongs so his message of second chances can be heard. That's why we're sending thousands of pineapples to A&E.

The idea of sending pineapples to A&E came about because we knew that A&E may not listen to phone calls or emails. The only thing that they would get noticed was physical action. By any means necessary is the only thing that we knew would bring Dog the Bounty Hunter back to television.

The message of sending one item to a network has succeeded in the past. The biggest example of this is the television show Jericho, which was to be taken off air. A grassroots network arranged for peanuts to be sent to the network. They succeeded in sending 20 tons of peanuts to the network to make a statement.

A truly new idea in the history of protests by Orato. As one commenter put it:
Austrailian Fan, Lelandisms101
I suggest everyone send Pineapples to A&E demanding Dog's return.

Here is their address:

235 EAST 45TH STREET NEW YORK, NY 10017

The fresher the better, but we're not fussy - anything PINEAPPLE...Canned, fresh, juice, just bombard them with Pineapples until they return Dog to our screens.

If 20 tonnes of Peanuts worked to get Jericho back, let them eat pineapples so we can get out Dog back.
Thanks!!!

Also, from Dog Supporter, information on how to join the Yum Brands Boycott
Yum Brands pulled all their ads from Dog The Bounty Hunter and helped force AE to cancel the show. Today we are beginning a boycott of ALL Yum Brands till they agree to back of their boycott of AE because of Dog and agree to advertise on Dog’s show again. Yum Fast Food companies are, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Kentucky, A&W, Long John Silvers and Wingstreets. It will show them how much we miss Dog and hurt them in their business, which hopefully force them to do the right thing and get back to supporting Dog and his crew. Dog has helped a lot of people and done a lot of good work. Its time to move on, forgive and get him back to work. Not only will you help Dog, you will probably help your health avoiding this companies high calorie junk food.
Check out the site for information on who to write at Yum Brands. If pressure is put on Yum Brands, their pressure on A&E will carry a lot of weight.

Dog the Bounty Hunter:
Editorial Round-Up

Dog the Bounty Hunter
UPDATE: November 11 2007 SUNDAY

Dog the Bounty Hunter's Duane Chapman has kept out of the limelight for the last several days. He seems to have done what most people do in times of stress and trouble--hunker down in safe surroundings and weather the storm.

Around the country, the reaction was of several varieties. Editorially, it was running against the Bounty Hunter and no amount of apologies can right the wrong. Editors are busy people.

A casual reading of these makes one suspect that some of the editors doing the writing were too busy to listen to the tapes--outside of the famous 10-15 second soundbites that every media outlet has played over the last 10 days.

The editors are of the mind that Duane Champman, a man with a rough background and an ex-con, should never have been thinking, let alone saying, what he did. An interesting experiment: one of the writers below has a private cellphone conversation taped unawares, sold to the National Enquirer, edited down to the most inflammatory bits and played on national media.

It might be interesting to hear their reaction then.

The fan reaction was, understandably, running heavily in Dog's favor--most Internet polls are still racking up 80-90% in Chapman's favor. A 'live and let live' attitude seems to be the norm.

A random round-up of Dog the Bounty Hunter opinions is presented below.

Scott Beasley [11-08-07] at Clarksville Online:

Anyone who has listened to the sickening rant of this so called “celebrity” should be infuriated. His repetitive use of the “N” word and obvious disapproval with interracial relationships was exemplified in a recorded phone call. His breakdown on television the other night was a bit premature. After listening to his hate-filled rant and then listening to his tearful apology, I find it hard to believe that he “transformed” overnight.

As a white man who grew up in the south, racism is prevalent towards every minority and is something that cannot be “unlearned” overnight. In today’s society, the use of the “N” word is taboo. It is demeaning and disrespectful and serves no purpose in society other than to be used as an example of what not to do. Condemning interracial relationships is even more disturbing.

believe it to be little too soon for this man to try to save face the way he tried on national television and I don’t believe it to be a sincere gesture, but more of a damage control plea.

Earl Ofari Hutchinson [11-5-07] at Alternet:
"I am sick and tired of people like you and the phony and fake Al Sharpton who go after white people who say something you don't like and then using the excuse ... it degrades black women, etc."

That was one of the tamer emails I got when I called for A&E Television to cancel outright the "Dog the Bounty Hunter" show. We all know by now what round em' up and bring em' back alive Duane Chapman aka the Bounty Hunter did to get the temporary ax.

He let fly a "B" and "N" word laced rant and borderline threatening oaths at his son for having the temerity to date a black woman. A&E "suspended" production of the show. That was a weak, tepid, and vacillating response. And I told why. Dog's comments about black women are more than just gender and racially demeaning and hurtful to black women. They are a vicious attack on and call to end interracial relations, as well as an incitement to violence. Dog the Bounty Hunter's' statement was far more damaging than shock jock Don Imus's.

I frontally challenged A&E and said that suspension of the show is not enough. A&E can send the strong message that the sentiments he expressed will not be tolerated by immediate cancellation of the show.

The suspension I also said is simply a cover your butt holding action by A& E that left the door wide open for Dog to climb back on the airwaves. That prospect was even more real and fresh in mind with the announcement the day before by Citadel Broadcasting that shock Jock Don Imus had cut a deal with the network and would be back on board December 3.

Dylan Vox [11-07-07] at Gay Wired:
It’s been a week since the taped audio message of Duane “Dog “ Chapman calling his son’s girlfriend racial slurs hit the press, and while it is still not clear whether his popular show Dog the Bounty Hunter will be renewed by A& E, it is clear that Chapman is trying to salvage his career. Breaking into tears, he has been making the rounds to TV stations, to the girls parents and is even expected to appear on Larry King Live to apologize for his flagrant use of the 'n' word.

As a former inmate and current bounty hunter, Chapman is no stranger to controversial situations, but the public outrage with this latest tirade may just put an end to his television career.

Excerpts of a conversation with his son Tucker Chapman were released to the National Enquirer, containing numerous racial slurs used when referring to Tucker’s African-American girlfriend, Monique Shinnery.

[11-08-07] at
BuddyTV:
Days after a taped conversation, wherein Dog the Bounty Hunter star Duane "Dog" Chapman can be heard liberally using the N-word, was leaked, the famed bounty hunter and reality star went on FOX News Hannity & Colmes, and tearfully apologized for using the racial slur and explained what prompted him to do it.

Apparently, the 54-year-old has always felt a certain kinship with the black community, and claims he never used the N-word out of hate.

"There's a special connection that I thought I had between me and black America. And I used to say, 'I'm black, too,'” Duane Chapman told Hannity & Colmes' Sean Hannity on Tuesday. “In other words, my whole life I've been called a half-breed, a convict, king of the trailer trash, this and that… so when I stood there and said, 'I kind of know what you feel like, because I've been there, too,' that I felt that I could embrace and like, as brothers… say the word.”

Leonard Pitts at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
Beg pardon, but who died and made Al Sharpton president of the Negroes?

Not that Sharpton has ever declared himself as such. But the fact that some regard him as black America's chief executive was driven home for the umpteenth time a few days ago after TV reality show bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman got in trouble for using a certain toxic racial epithet - six letters, starts with "n," rhymes with digger - on the phone with his son.

As you may have heard, Chapman was expressing disapproval of the son's black girlfriend.

"It's not because she's black," he said. "It's because we use the word 'n-----' sometimes here. I'm not going to take a chance ever in life of losing everything I've worked for for 30 years because some f------ n----- heard us say 'n-----' and turned us in to the Enquirer magazine."

Naturally, the son sold a tape of the conversation to the National Enquirer. Which leaves me in the awkward position of simultaneously loathing what Chapman said and pitying him for having raised a rat fink son who would sell out his own father for a few pieces of silver.

Anyway, with his life and career circling the drain, an apologetic Chapman fell back on what is becoming standard operating procedure for celebrities who defame black folk. He contacted Sharpton.

In so doing, he follows the trail blazed by Don Imus, Washington shock jock Doug "Greaseman" Tracht and Michael Richards, who sought out Sharpton (or, alternately, Jesse Jackson) after saying what they wished they had not. They were all, in turn, following the news media, which, whenever a quote on some racial matter is required, turn to the right reverends by reflex.
