Dog the Bounty Hunter fans can now start their celebrations.

It's now official: Dog the Bounty Hunter is coming back to the A & E TV line-up.

An A&E spokesman confirmed yesterday the resumption of the show's production immediately, though no date yet has been set for the show's new premiere.

KHNL TV in Honolulu stated that Beth Chapman confirmed to KHNL Tuesday morning that the show would resume production immediately.

Persistence and a showing of public remorse, along with a charity outreach to black groups, made a difference.

So did the actions of thousands of "Dog the Bounty Hunter" fans.

And the show's formerly big ratings on A&E Network didn't hurt, either.

The public acts of remorse and contrition are over and a new journey that starts for the star of any TV show looms: to lure back enough former viewers to keep the show at the top of A&E's ratings line-up.

The announcement marked the latest step on a 3+ month journey of redemption and contrition for Duane "Dog" Chapman. Since the furor broke with the National Enquirer's publishing of the audio tapes of Chapman's heated exchange with son, Tucker, over his girlfriend during a private cell-phone conversation.

Fans of "Dog the Bounty Hunter" were first shocked, then angry and defensive about the suspension of their favorite TV reality show.

Eventually, fans went on the offensive, and a plethora of petitions sprung up around the web. Letter-writing campaigns and boycotts were also organized against everything from A&E Network's remaining line-up to the show's former sponsors.

One campaign even advised fans to send 1000s of pineapples to A&E's NY Headquarters in protest of the show's removal.

The news from around the web is almost universally cheerful at the return of the reality show, "Dog the Bounty Hunter", and it's star, Duane "Dog" Chapman. The show, which stars Chapman, as well as his wife, Beth, partner, Tim Chapman, son, Leland Chapman, and various other members of Duane Chapman's extended family.

Here's a round-up of what others are saying on Tuesday morning, February 20, 2008.

Celebrity bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman is set to return to television after his reality TV show was pulled from the air three months ago in a controversy over his use of a racial slur, cable channel A&E said on Tuesday.

An A&E spokesman said the network had decided to start production again of "Dog The Bounty Hunter" but no airdate has yet been scheduled.

"Over the last few months, Duane "Dog" Chapman has taken and continues to take the appropriate steps in reaching out to several African American organizations in an effort to make amends for his private comments to his son which were released publicly," said a statement from the network.

"Since the premise of "Dog The Bounty Hunter" is about second chances - we have decided to give him one."

E! ONLINE:

"We take this matter very seriously," A&E said in a statement at the time of the show's production suspension. "Pending an investigation, we have suspended production on the series. When the inquiry is concluded we will take appropriate action."

A&E, which removed Dog the Bounty Hunter info from its Website just after New Year's, has not yet set a date for the show's return, but a camera crew is reportedly in place, and lodging and cars have been rented for a fifth season.

CANADA NOW:

The network, A&E, has yet to set an official premiere date for Dog The Bounty Hunter, but it has been confirmed that he is coming back.

Production is set to start as soon as possible, as everything is just about set to go.

MONSTERS and CRITICS:

A&E are satisfied that Dog made ammends, and claim they are happy he reached out to the African American community.

The Dog will hunt again. A&E has confirmed that production has begun on the next season of Dog the Bounty Hunter in Hawaii. Guess A&E isn't worried about [Chapman's Enquirer-published comments], because their main man is back. That show did make a ton of money, and I can't imagine marathons of that show Intervention are keeping the ratings high. Congrats Dog! Now just keep your mouth shut.

A week ago, it was announced that the Dog the Bounty Hunter star would be making a charity appearance in Chicago in April.

The star of the Dog the Bounty Hunter is set to perform at Mooseheart Child City and School in Chicago, Illinois on April 11 and April 12. He'll be in concert with bands such as Echoing Angels, Emery, Inhabited, Flatfoot 56, and Will Duvall for two very different nights.

More importantly, Chapman will speak for 45 minutes from his heart about his life, tragedies, triumphs, and faith. Tagging along is his wife Beth Chapman, who also appears on the reality series Dog the Bounty Hunter. This meet and greet event also encourages spectators come with an open mind, and leave with a changed heart.

A former gang member with 18 prior convictions for armed robbery, Chapman was sentenced to five years in a Texas prison in 1977 after being convicted of the first degree murder of Jeremy Oliver. Chapman maintained his innocence of murder but was considered as a legal accessory for not reporting the shooting to the police. He was released on probation after 18 months. Eventually, he became a bail bondsman and bounty hunter, which is also the focus of the reality series Dog the Bounty Hunter.

As of Wednesday morning, no announcement was on the A&E Network's website yet. This was the latest story on the Dog the Bounty Hunter News Updates.
A&E Network:

January 30th, 2008: Duane "Dog" Chapman is officially free from his Mexican legal ordeal. A three-judge panel in Mexico unanimously ruled on Tuesday, January 29th, that the criminal charges against Dog, his son, Leland Chapman, and his close friend, Tim Chapman, must be dismissed; they cannot be extradited to Mexico to face criminal charges for their 2003 capture of serial rapist and fugitive Andrew Luster.

Andrew Luster, the famed heir to the Max Factor cosmetics fortune, had been convicted of drugging and raping three women over a four year span. During his trial in 2003, Luster fled the country, leading to an international manhunt. In June 2003, Dog and his team tracked the fugitive Luster in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, where he was living under an alias, and seized him. Luster was handed over to the United States government by Mexican officials. He was subsequently found guilty and is currently serving a 124 year prison sentence.

However, as Mexican law does not permit private individuals to engage in bounty hunting on their own, Dog, Tim and Leland were arrested by the Mexican authorities, but were later released and they returned to the United States. In February 2007, US Marshals took all three men into custody on an extradition warrant stemming from the 2003 charges. The extradition warrant was dismissed in 2007 and the the criminal charges in Mexico have also now been dismissed.

A&E did have this in "About the Show", which is undated.

Last year was the Chinese calendar's Year of the Dog – and Duane "Dog" Chapman – the world's most famous bounty hunter - had enough drama to last him two lifetimes. Now, staring adversity in the face with his own freedom hanging in the balance, Dog is coming back with a vengeance to hunt down fugitives with his wife Beth and fearless Posse.

This year the Posse is back in action once again hitting the streets, tracking down fugitives, and giving them that one-of-a-kind dose of tough love only Dog can provide. In addition to Tim, Leland, and Duane Lee this year Baby Lyssa, Dog's daughter, joins the Posse full time.

With the threat of Mexican justice hanging over their heads, the stakes are higher than ever for Dog & the Posse; but the Chapmans are sticking together to get the job done – both on the streets and in the courts. As Dog says, "What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger."

And that's that.

Tim Chapman Buck Naked troubles: innocent changing of juiced clothing, or lewd act?

Tim, a sidekick of TV bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman, turned himself in to authorities Friday after a shopping center security guard reported seeing him naked in his pickup truck, performing a lewd act, police said.

But Tim Chapman's lawyer insists his client spilled juice on himself and was just changing clothes Thursday night.

Tim Chapman and the security guard obviously didn't see eye-to-eye about the event.

In fact, Chapman, according to the guard, tried to get "up close and personal" with him--with his truck.

The guard told Chapman to put on his clothes and get out of the truck, police said. After dressing, Chapman started his truck and drove over a sidewalk, nearly hitting the guard, then drove off, police said.

Fame has its benefits.

And its drawbacks.

The guard told police that "he recognized Chapman from Duane Chapman's show "Dog the Bounty Hunter" and that he was performing an unspecified lewd act."

The story goes on to state that Duane Chapman and Tim Chapman are not related.

That was buried in the sixth or seventh paragraph.

Three Male Chapmans--all fully clothed--with Beth

Tim Chapman's attorney, Brook Hart, came to the rescue--as attorneys are wont to do--and said it was all a misunderstanding.

"It was simply a man who wet his pants with orange juice inadvertently and was changing them, doing nothing wrong at all and believing he had sufficient privacy to do it," Hart said.

Police said they were still investigating the matter. There's no word on whether they plan to charge Chapman, 42.

Several questions leaped to mind after reading this.

Was Tim Chapman alone?

What was the lewd act?

Does it matter if you're in the privacy of your own pick-up truck?

What attracted the security guard's attention?

Meanwhile, life goes on for the millions of "Dog the Bounty Hunter" fans who face another day without their favorite show.

As one person put it, "Maybe the security guard will investigate that one".

Don't hold your breath.

From Private Officer: One of the stars of the reality TV show “Dog the Bounty Hunter” was arrested today on suspicion of attempted murder and indecent exposure. and also: Police checked Tim Chapman’s Hawaii Kai home, but were told he’s separated from his wife and has been living out of his truck. Then around 2:30 this afternoon, Tim Chapman turned himself in to Honolulu police.Chapman’s attorney Brook Hart says it’s all a misunderstanding. “Tim Chapman was driving in the Ala Moana, Kapioplani Blvd. area when he inadvertently spilled some orange juice, orange drink or liquid in his lap, and he got all wet so looked for a place for some privacy,” said Brook Hart, Tim Chapman’s attorney.Hart says Tim Chapman was not performing lewd acts.”He was merely changing from one pants to another when a security guard came and yelled at him to get out of his car. Tim panicked and drove over the curb and left the area,” said Hart.Tim Chapman was booked on suspicion of indecent exposure, and attempted murder for nearly running over the security guard. Dog the Bounty Hunter: Big Rumblings from the Rumor Mill

There has been no news on the Dog the Bounty Hunter. All the news lately has been of the different efforts of the Dog's fans in their quest to get the Dog the Bounty Hunter show back on the airwaves.

So, we scoured and called and wrote. What we came up with was rumblings and rumors.

But, several of the rumors we heard, we heard in more than one place--from more than one source. So we thought that we'd present some of the things we heard and let the readers decide what they thought.

Maybe some of you have heard the same thing, or have information that we don't have.

Here's some of what we heard after a day of Dog info hunting and what we think about it. We know the readers won't be shy about what they think.

[Truth-O-Meter Ratings: 0 (it's probably a lie) to 10 (bet the ranch)]

* The Dog's been laying low.
Not much of a rumor here. It's a fact. Duane "Dog" Chapman has been out of the spotlight for several weeks now.

This is not very surprising, either. In Dog's case, "No News is Good News" right now.

* The Dog will be back in the public eye soon..
Again, this bit of information is easy to believe. The Dog won't stay hidden forever and has got to surface again sometime.

How soon is soon?

For many fans of the Bounty Hunter, it can't be soon enough. One of the common themes, in both comments left at this site and emails we've received, is that people feel a hole has developed in their regular TV viewing habits without their weekly 'dose of Dog'.

* The 'Dog the Bounty Hunter' show will not in the future and may never return to the airwaves.
We don't believe this. We don't believe anything in the world of TV, driven as it is by ratings, is set in stone. Duane Chapman's show was popular and a mainstay in the A & E Network's line-up.

This was one rumor we heard only one time. And we don't even like the guy who said it.
[Truth-O-Meter Rating: 3.0]

* There has been a "reaching out" to Dog by Afro-American groups.
This one we can believe. From the amount of email and comments we've received from ordinary black folk, there is a great rolling of eyes about what Dog said: but no acrimony, and certainly no hatred.

A great majority of our mail begins, "I'm non-Caucasian and you can tell that Dog is not a racist. He shouldn't have said what he said, but he didn't say it in anger." Or some variation of those thoughts.

If memory serves, there was no outcry against Dog and what was said during his private cellphone conversation by Black America.

Make no mistake: they were not happy, but judging from what we read, they shrugged their shoulders and shook their head at a man using ill-considered bad language.

The outcry came from certain White Americans eager to throw another person under the Political Correctness bus. This outcry came from the same quarters that attempts to stifle speech on college campuses, shout down disagreeable opinions and speakers and regulate Internet bloggers.

To them, this had nothing to do with Dog the Bounty Hunter; many of them wouldn't know Dog Chapman from a carburetor. Duane Chapman was only a means to an end.

Muzzling the Dog was their way of flexing their PC muscles.

Thankfully, those people are a small, if noisy, segment of the American population.

This rumor has substance because: Black or White, no one likes to see a person get railroaded. And Duane Chapman got railroaded.

* Duane Chapman hasn't so much as swore in the last month.
As unbelievable as this might be when first heard, we heard this from multiple sources. Dog is trying hard to clean up his whole language act.

We smiled the first time we heard this; our eyes opened wide, the second time; but the third time, well, what could we say?

As one source told us, "the Dog causing hurt and heartache among some of his fans really hit home with him on the need to clean up his language. He kept saying he was going to clean it up, but I'd heard that before."

"But this time--he accepted the challenge. I'm not saying he won't ever slip up ever again--he's human--but I haven't heard him swear in over three weeks."

One source even told us the Dog's swear-free and said "I swear it!"

After hearing this from three different people, we tend to believe it: after all, if it wasn't true, the National Enquirer would have had it on their front page by now.

* The Dog and Beth are getting a divorce over this whole mess.
I think this guy got Dog confused with another TV show star.

So that's it. After a whole day spent on the phone, this is what we dug up.

There was a few other things, but we're going to be doing some more checking on those items over the weekend.

Dog the Bounty Hunter's Duane Chapman has kept out of the limelight for the last several days. He seems to have done what most people do in times of stress and trouble--hunker down in safe surroundings and weather the storm.

Around the country, the reaction was of several varieties. Editorially, it was running against the Bounty Hunter and no amount of apologies can right the wrong. Editors are busy people.

A casual reading of these makes one suspect that some of the editors doing the writing were too busy to listen to the tapes--outside of the famous 10-15 second soundbites that every media outlet has played over the last 10 days.

The editors are of the mind that Duane Champman, a man with a rough background and an ex-con, should never have been thinking, let alone saying, what he did. An interesting experiment: one of the writers below has a private cellphone conversation taped unawares, sold to the National Enquirer, edited down to the most inflammatory bits and played on national media.

It might be interesting to hear their reaction then.

The fan reaction was, understandably, running heavily in Dog's favor--most Internet polls are still racking up 80-90% in Chapman's favor. A 'live and let live' attitude seems to be the norm.

Anyone who has listened to the sickening rant of this so called “celebrity” should be infuriated. His repetitive use of the “N” word and obvious disapproval with interracial relationships was exemplified in a recorded phone call. His breakdown on television the other night was a bit premature. After listening to his hate-filled rant and then listening to his tearful apology, I find it hard to believe that he “transformed” overnight.

As a white man who grew up in the south, racism is prevalent towards every minority and is something that cannot be “unlearned” overnight. In today’s society, the use of the “N” word is taboo. It is demeaning and disrespectful and serves no purpose in society other than to be used as an example of what not to do. Condemning interracial relationships is even more disturbing.

believe it to be little too soon for this man to try to save face the way he tried on national television and I don’t believe it to be a sincere gesture, but more of a damage control plea.

"I am sick and tired of people like you and the phony and fake Al Sharpton who go after white people who say something you don't like and then using the excuse ... it degrades black women, etc."

That was one of the tamer emails I got when I called for A&E Television to cancel outright the "Dog the Bounty Hunter" show. We all know by now what round em' up and bring em' back alive Duane Chapman aka the Bounty Hunter did to get the temporary ax.

He let fly a "B" and "N" word laced rant and borderline threatening oaths at his son for having the temerity to date a black woman. A&E "suspended" production of the show. That was a weak, tepid, and vacillating response. And I told why. Dog's comments about black women are more than just gender and racially demeaning and hurtful to black women. They are a vicious attack on and call to end interracial relations, as well as an incitement to violence. Dog the Bounty Hunter's' statement was far more damaging than shock jock Don Imus's.

I frontally challenged A&E and said that suspension of the show is not enough. A&E can send the strong message that the sentiments he expressed will not be tolerated by immediate cancellation of the show.

The suspension I also said is simply a cover your butt holding action by A& E that left the door wide open for Dog to climb back on the airwaves. That prospect was even more real and fresh in mind with the announcement the day before by Citadel Broadcasting that shock Jock Don Imus had cut a deal with the network and would be back on board December 3.

It’s been a week since the taped audio message of Duane “Dog “ Chapman calling his son’s girlfriend racial slurs hit the press, and while it is still not clear whether his popular show Dog the Bounty Hunter will be renewed by A& E, it is clear that Chapman is trying to salvage his career. Breaking into tears, he has been making the rounds to TV stations, to the girls parents and is even expected to appear on Larry King Live to apologize for his flagrant use of the 'n' word.

As a former inmate and current bounty hunter, Chapman is no stranger to controversial situations, but the public outrage with this latest tirade may just put an end to his television career.

Excerpts of a conversation with his son Tucker Chapman were released to the National Enquirer, containing numerous racial slurs used when referring to Tucker’s African-American girlfriend, Monique Shinnery.

Days after a taped conversation, wherein Dog the Bounty Hunter star Duane "Dog" Chapman can be heard liberally using the N-word, was leaked, the famed bounty hunter and reality star went on FOX News Hannity & Colmes, and tearfully apologized for using the racial slur and explained what prompted him to do it.

Apparently, the 54-year-old has always felt a certain kinship with the black community, and claims he never used the N-word out of hate.

"There's a special connection that I thought I had between me and black America. And I used to say, 'I'm black, too,'” Duane Chapman told Hannity & Colmes' Sean Hannity on Tuesday. “In other words, my whole life I've been called a half-breed, a convict, king of the trailer trash, this and that… so when I stood there and said, 'I kind of know what you feel like, because I've been there, too,' that I felt that I could embrace and like, as brothers… say the word.”

Beg pardon, but who died and made Al Sharpton president of the Negroes?

Not that Sharpton has ever declared himself as such. But the fact that some regard him as black America's chief executive was driven home for the umpteenth time a few days ago after TV reality show bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman got in trouble for using a certain toxic racial epithet - six letters, starts with "n," rhymes with digger - on the phone with his son.

As you may have heard, Chapman was expressing disapproval of the son's black girlfriend.

"It's not because she's black," he said. "It's because we use the word 'n-----' sometimes here. I'm not going to take a chance ever in life of losing everything I've worked for for 30 years because some f------ n----- heard us say 'n-----' and turned us in to the Enquirer magazine."

But the fact that some regard him as black America's chief executive was driven home for the umpteenth time a few days ago after TV reality show bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman got in trouble for using a certain toxic racial epithet - six letters, starts with "n," rhymes with digger - on the phone with his son.

As you may have heard, Chapman was expressing disapproval of the son's black girlfriend.

"My name is Duane Dog Chapman. I've lived a hell of a life. I've been a biker, I've been a convict, I've been a husband, father, and son."

All was fairly quiet on the Dog the Bounty Hunter front last night. No statements, no threats of lawsuits--just the sound of fans scrambling to find internet petitions to sign to perhaps try and make their voices heard to TV executives to return the Dog to the air.

In the spirit of "No news is good news" at this point, we thought we'd look around for some facts about Duane "Dog" Chapman to pass along.

After reading these, you may agree that the Bounty Hunter has lived an interesting life.

Duane "Dog" Chapman's show was suspended after a racial slur on November 1, 2007. The tape of the slur was released by a national tabloid.

Duane, known for being a very religious man, was given the nickname Dog by Tom, a fellow Disciple member, because its God spelled backwards.

While Dog was imprisoned at the Texas State Penitentiary for his murder conviction, his prisoner number was 271097. He also served as the warden's barber.

Favorite television shows as a child were: The Lone Ranger, Sky King, and The Green Hornet.

One of Dog's children, Zebediah, died only 30 days after birth. The boy was premature.

Duane Chapman was arrested on September 14, 2006, in Hawaii. He was charged with illegal detention and conspiracy in an alleged kidnapping of Andrew Luster. He was initially arrested in Mexico three years ago, but failed to show up for court, which resulted in a warrant for his arrest.

Barbara Katie Chapman, one of Dog’s children, was killed in an automobile accident the day before he married Beth.

Duane dropped out of school in the seventh grade from Rishel Junior High. (edit)
Dog is part Native American, specifically the Chiricahua Apache tribe, and proud of his heritage.

Dog caught notorious Kona burglar Bryan Blair, who was lying low in Kansas City.

Dog is 5’7’’ and admits to using customized boots to increase his height to 5’10’’.

Duane has been arrested 18 times, and served time in prison for murder.

Duane “Dog” Chapman was a Kirby vacuum salesman before his bounty hunting career.

Dog started bounty hunting in 1979 to pay off child support he accrued while in prison, $200.

Dog Chapman became famous when he captured Andrew Luster in Mexico.

Dog claims to have captured 6,000+ criminals.

Dog has been married 5 times: LaFonda, Ann, Lyssa, Tawny, and Beth. He also has 12 children, 11 of which are his own. Cecily, who is Beth's daughter from her first marriage, is not Dog's biological daughter but he considers her his own.

Dog has a son named Tucker,sentenced 20 years in prison for armed robbery.

A majority of African Americans who saw Duane Chapman’s interview on Larry King express a willingness to forgive dog the bounty hunter provided his remorse and humility was genuine. I made a point of asking one of my neighbors who is black to watch the show so I could solicit his opinion. ”Mostly I would say its his upbringing that caused him the trouble” my friend remarked. I asked if he felt it would be appropriate for A&E to give him his job back. “Yea and he should spend some of the salary they pay him on adult education”. ”The thing is, Not so much what the “Dog” was saying” ”It’s a black minister willing to come on National t.V.’ and say now look here brothers and sisters, I am this mans spiritual leader and while he may need counseling on the use of profanity and slurs he is not a racist and I am also telling you he is a believing Christian and a friend of mine”

The king interview revealed a man who confirmed my previous opinion its not so much an issue of racism with the Dog as it is a lack of education and impulse control. Some cash spent on a few verbal advantage tapes and anger management courses would be a good step toward achieving his stated desire to become something other then where he came from.

I speculate many African Americans would object and loudly if A&E or another network decides to return the Dog to America’s living room. But the final decision comes down to dollars and cents. Dog has lots of fans and those fans some of who are black are the ones who ultimately decide what sells and what does not.

I want to send you an e-mail to let you know that I and my non-white family are behind the Dog! He said nothing but an exagerated swear word for what the "duo" must have already done before this incident...

Not only that the conversation very private, but also made public by people that you must doubt integrity and motives; how did they get Dog talking like that despite of his "one of the boys" attitude even with criminals...???? Like my grandson may say,"are you nuts?"

Ruin then anyone who say the word, white or black, grey or yellow...whatever race, rather than hulk in the shadows, wait. then wait for judas and girlfriend with 30 pieces of silver to buy a private conversation. Guess what? Enquirer do not have any ethics, but they showed Dog's son and his girlfriend to be the bad guys here... They must have known the common swear word in the prison, in the house, in Dog's experience, and they entrapped Dog to say it. Wake up everyone, punish the real culprit. Dog takes care of his family; his son and girlfriend want to destroy the family and its livelihood.

Never met Dog except in his tv show that I watch regularly, but I feel for him and the rest of his family...

In an America where someone sues when they spill coffee in their own lap, it was only a matter of time.

Duane "Dog the Bounty Hunter" Chapman will be the target of a lawsuit by his son Tucker's girlfriend, Monique Shinnery. She said she plans on filing soon.

The victim of Duane "Dog the Bounty Hunter" Chapman's racist rant announced today that she plans to sue him.

Monique Shinnery, who was repeatedly called "n----r" by Chapman on tape told The National ENQUIRER: "I'm going to sue Dog Chapman."

Chapman not only subjected her to racist slurs, but he also attacked her character in subsequent TV interviews, even though he had never met or spoken to her.

His public attacks on her character pushed Monique over the edge.

As he attempts to save his TV show, Chapman has appeared on two national TV shows offering tearful - and at times bizarre apologies - for using racist slurs. But he has continued to damage Monique's reputation while trying to dig himself out of trouble, she told The National ENQUIRER.

"I want justice," Monique told The National ENQUIRER. "He has slandered me, stated that I have bad character and repeatedly lied about me on national television. If I'm ever going to hold my head up in public again, I need to stand up for what is right."

In March, Dog used the "N" word over and over again while demanding that his son, Tucker, dump Monique, his girlfriend of seven months, if he wants to be part of the Chapman family. The conversation reached the outraged ears of the world when The National ENQUIRER exclusively released the venomous, racist tapes, and caused A&E to drop Dog's show from their schedule "for the foreseeable future." A&E has refused to cancel the show, its top moneymaker.

Chapman has apologized for using the "N" word, but he has tried to keep the focus off the fact that he said he did not want a black person in his house or in his family.

In his first written and public apology, Chapman, who had never met, nor seen, Monique, said, "I was disappointed in his choice of a friend, not due to her race, but her character."

"Dog Chapman knows nothing about my character," Monique, 21, who has no criminal record, works with mentally challenged children and hopes to enlist in the Coast Guard, told The National ENQUIRER. "He doesn't know me, and he has never met me.

"I have had threats from his fans. I have been hiding, afraid to go out. After Dog's slander against me, my boss told me they might require that I take a drug test. I have never done drugs.

"Dog said on television that I had a plan to jump (his wife) Beth and hoped to tape her using racial language. He said he saw me and another girl in a car outside his shop, wearing tank tops.

"I never wear a tank top, I have never been in that parking lot when they were at their bail bond shop and I certainly wouldn't jump Beth. I weigh 105 pounds! She'd kill me!

"It was all lies. He 'apologizes' and then continues to lie about me. I cannot and do not accept his apology, because it was insincere.

"It's not even about him using the 'N' word. It's about him not wanting a black woman to be part of his family or part of his son's life.

"They use the 'N' word all the time. Once, Beth said to Tucker, 'If you want to smoke, you can go over to your n----r girlfriend's house and smoke.' Beth's as much of a racist as Dog is.

"Tucker and I were talking with Baby Lyssa (Dog's daughter) one time and she said, 'N----rs,' and quickly changed it to 'black people' when she realized I was listening. Their family is just like that.

Celebrity bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman, whose reality TV show has been pulled from the air indefinitely after he used a racial slur, says he still loves the son who sold the tape of his private remark.

Cable channel A&E took the popular show, "Dog the Bounty Hunter," off its schedule for the foreseeable future after a private phone call in which Chapman used an offensive term to describe his son Tucker's black girlfriend hit the Internet.

Chapman said his son Tucker had sold the tape of the conversation that dates back to March to The National Enquirer but he did not know why.

"He will not talk to me," said Chapman, who has 12 children and has been married five times.

"His mother's in on it with him. I have been away from her since the '80s so now she is like getting even," he told the Larry King Live show on CNN on Wednesday night.

A teary Chapman, who has apologized repeatedly since the tape was made public and promised to make amends, said he had used the epithet "nigger" on a heated call with his son while admitting he was probably interfering in his life.

Chapman said Tucker had been sent to prison at the age of 18 and served four years of a 20 year sentence for armed robbery before being released on parole.

"I tried to take control of his life (after this)," said Chapman, himself an ex-con. "I heard this girl was maybe not being the best for Tucker -- and I'll leave it like that -- so I tried to interfere.

"I don't care if she is black at all. He's on parole for a 20 year sentence and if he messes up he goes back."
Honolulu-based Chapman, 54, who says he is a devout Christian, made no comment on reports that his son sold the tape for $15,000.

"All I want him to know is that I love him very much," he said.

A&E has said no decision has been made to cancel the program, which is shown in more than 10 countries, and the network will review the situation again later this month.

Chapman, with his trademark scraggly long blond hair and leather wardrobe, rose to fame after his 2003 tracking and capture of Max Factor heir and serial rapist Andrew Luster in Mexico.

This led to an offer for a reality TV show following him and his "posse" tracking down people who jump bail.

Sounds like a concerned father.

D. CHAPMAN: ... you know, really terrible. I don't — I — that's — that is a terrible thing that I said. It hurts worse to hear it over and over. And I am very sorry that I said that.

HANNITY: I want to get to the — you've given a written apology. Is this — is this how you've often talked? Did you not know that, when you use that word that — what the reaction would be? Because you even say — you suggest in this whole thing that you know what would happen if America — America, at one point, you said, would not understand it. America would not think what we mean.

D. CHAPMAN: Well, I didn't, of course, want America to hear that. And of course, I knew that that was a word that I should not be saying. As far as believing in what that word means, I did not — I do not believe that that word is — means what a lot of America is thinking.

And that's what I didn't want to have to do, was explain to America what that word meant to me.

HANNITY: If you knew — you're a public figure. If you knew that America will react that way — you've had some time to think about it since this has been released. Have you thought back as to why you would continue to use the word?

And you know, I don't want her around her not because — you talk about not because of the race issue, but because you guys at the production company, I assumed is what you were referring to, use that word.

D. CHAPMAN: No. It's like I use the word. My little baby is 8. And she came to me and said, "Dad, we don't say that." And a lot of times a boxer is in the ring, and he does a good job. In the interview right after, he says, we knocked them out.

And I always think, what do you mean, we? You just is in there by yourself. I know what "we" means now. I've used the word for a long time not to mean what it does to a lot of black people that are offended.

I will try never, ever, ever to use that word again. I did not — I did not ever want to be in the hot seat as I am right now, the hottest seat I've been in, because I'm always in the hot seat anyway. I didn't want to have to explain to America outside my family and people that I love that know me what that means.

I thought that I was cool enough in the black world to be able to use that word as a brother to a brother. I'm not. I didn't really know until three or four days ago what that meant to black people.

Of course, I know the story, and I know America's story. But I never realized that that's like stabbing a black person in the heart. I would never do that to any kind of person. I've always taken pride to be the white guy that can talk to the black people, that can refer to them truly as a brother from a different mother.

But this is America and this is entertainment, and that doesn't fly there.

Monday was relatively quiet. A judge dismissed one of the last charges against Duane "Dog" Chapman stemming from his famous Mexico caper with the Max Factor heir. And he landed at LAX with wife Beth and others.

Dog the Bounty Hunter-Canceled: Mexican Charges Finally Dismissed

Finally.

The Bounty Hunter got a bit of good news yesterday: he will not be extradited to Mexico to face a pending appeal on kidnapping charges against him, a judge ruled Monday.

Coming after 5 days of turmoil over the tapes of his private cellphone conversation with his son, Tucker, were made public and Arts and Entertainment Network first pulling his show from the air, then canceling it--this was good news.

Duane "Dog" Chapman, the star of Bounty Hunter has had two relatively quiet days, free from bad news. An appearance at an El Cajon, CA parade was canceled yesterday, but that's been about it.

Now he can finally put the Mexico legal hassles behind him.

The U.S. government was trying to send Chapman, his son Leland Chapman and a third man to the resort town of Puerto Vallarta, where they were charged with kidnapping Andrew Luster, a Max Factor heir who had jumped a $1 million bond on charges that he drugged and raped three women. Luster's disappearance during his trial in Ventura set off an international manhunt by police, FBI and bounty hunters trying to recoup some of the bond money.

On June 18, 2003, Chapman and the other men apprehended Luster, and the fugitive was taken back to the United States to serve the 124-year sentence he was given while on the lam.

But because bounty hunting is illegal in Mexico, prosecutors in that country charged the three with kidnapping and asked U.S. authorities to arrest the trio and ship them to Puerto Vallarta.

On July 27, a Mexican judge dismissed the charges, ruling that Mexican prosecutors had taken too long in their attempts to bring the trio to trial. But the U.S. attorney's office in Honolulu, where the senior Chapman lives, declined to dismiss the extradition proceedings because Mexican prosecutors are appealing the judge's ruling.

Still, U.S. Magistrate Judge Barry Kurren in Honolulu on Monday dismissed the extradition attempt because the judge said the trio are no longer charged with any offenses, despite the appeal.

"I don't think they have any regrets whatsoever in facilitating the capture of Mr. Luster, who is a known and convicted rapist," his San Francisco lawyer, James Quadra, said Monday. "Though this has been a difficult process, they are proud of what they have done."

Quadra declined to comment on the tempest Chapman created last week when he was caught on tape using the racial epithet.

A&E pulled Chapman's show "Dog the Bounty Hunter" from the air indefinitely after a private phone conversation between the reality star and his son was posted online.

Chapman, 54, has been under fire since The National Enquirer posted a clip of Chapman using the N-word repeatedly about his son's black girlfriend. Chapman apologized and vowed to never utter the word again, but at least two advertisers have pulled out from the show and civil rights groups have called for its cancellation.

DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER-Canceled-Monday UPDATES:

Dog "Duane" Chapman, Day 6 in the continuing story of Dog the Bounty Hunter, the tapes of his cellphone call to his son about his son's girlfriend. Throughout the tapes, Dog can be heard using the N-word repeatedly, but says that he doesn't care if the girl is black or not and is more concerned with her character than the color of her skin.

Dog's spiritual adviser, Tim Storey, then issued statements repeating Chapman's remorse at his language. Storey also related that for the last year, he's been working with the Bounty Hunter to clean up his speech in general. Storey is black and testified that Chapman's use of the N-word was not hate-directed.

"Dog the Bounty Hunter" is first pulled from the air and then production is canceled by the Arts & Entertainment Network. A & E's statement seems to leave the door open that the popular series might resume at a later date, however.

FAN REACTION:Fan speculation has been both passionate and continuing. From the letters, comments and browsing, it seems that fan reaction is running about 80% in favor of the Bounty Hunter. The most common response seems to be "He shouldn't have said it, but he was on a private cellphone to his son. Get the show back on the air."

Of course, with any large group of people, you have people at both extremes of the issue. Some want Chapman's hide, some use the incident to spew slanderous things. But, on the whole for a story which stirred some passions, the reaction has been mostly passionate, but reasonable.

Chapman, upon the release of the tapes, apologized and expressed the wish to meet with black leaders and make amends. Tamkika Mallory, a member of Al Sharpton's group called for the show to be off the air at about the same time it was going down. This weekend, Sharpton himself issued a statement which called on Dog to march in an anti-hate demonstration at Jena, LA. No reaction from Dog on the Sharpton proposal.

Meanwhile, we also learned this weekend that Chapman's son, Tucker, sold the tapes for a "large sum of money" to the National Enquirer, which had released them. This wasn't the first time Tucker Chapman had sold the tabloids information on his perp-tracking father.

Tucker Chapman appears to have violated Hawaii law by making the tapes of the cellphone call without his father's knowledge.

'Dog' Did Not Want To Disrupt Parade, Officials Say

Duane "Dog" Chapman, the flamboyant, born-again bounty hunter in trouble recently for his use of the n-word, has been nixed from the lineup in El Cajon's Nov. 19 Mother Goose Parade.

"It was mutually agreed between Duane 'Dog' Chapman and the Mother Goose Parade Association that Dog would not participate in the parade this year. Dog did not want to cause any disturbances with the parade," according to a statement from the city.

Probably not a bad move. Though fan reaction has generally been running in Dog's favor, they'd be those on both sides of the issue that might turn what is primarily a children's event into a forum to express their views.

And those views probably don't have much to do with Mother Goose--even if Old Mother Hubbard gave her old dog a bone.

Fan reaction continues to run heavily in the Dog's favor, with online petitions springing up on various Internet sites. Whether the Dog the Bounty Hunter returns to the air and where largely seems to depend upon public reaction at this point.

Dog the Bounty Hunter Canceled: UPDATE -11-05-07 Monday

DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER-Canceled-UPDATES:

Dog "Duane" Chapman, Day 6 in the continuing story of Dog the Bounty Hunter, the tapes of his cellphone call to his son about his son's girlfriend. Throughout the tapes, Dog can be heard using the N-word repeatedly, but says that he doesn't care if the girl is black or not and is more concerned with her character than the color of her skin.

Dog's spiritual adviser, Tim Storey, then issued statements repeating Chapman's remorse at his language. Storey also related that for the last year, he's been working with the Bounty Hunter to clean up his speech in general. Storey is black and testified that Chapman's use of the N-word was not hate-directed.

"Dog the Bounty Hunter" is first pulled from the air and then production is canceled by the Arts & Entertainment Network. A & E's statement seems to leave the door open that the popular series might resume at a later date, however.

FAN REACTION:Fan speculation has been both passionate and continuing. From the letters, comments and browsing, it seems that fan reaction is running about 80% in favor of the Bounty Hunter. The most common response seems to be "He shouldn't have said it, but he was on a private cellphone to his son. Get the show back on the air."

Of course, with any large group of people, you have people at both extremes of the issue. Some want Chapman's hide, some use the incident to spew slanderous things. But, on the whole for a story which stirred some passions, the reaction has been mostly passionate, but reasonable.

Chapman, upon the release of the tapes, apologized and expressed the wish to meet with black leaders and make amends. Tamkika Mallory, a member of Al Sharpton's group called for the show to be off the air at about the same time it was going down. This weekend, Sharpton himself issued a statement which called on Dog to march in an anti-hate demonstration at Jena, LA. No reaction from Dog on the Sharpton proposal.

Meanwhile, we also learned this weekend that Chapman's son, Tucker, sold the tapes for a "large sum of money" to the National Enquirer, which had released them. This wasn't the first time Tucker Chapman had sold the tabloids information on his perp-tracking father.

Tucker Chapman appears to have violated Hawaii law by making the tapes of the cellphone call without his father's knowledge.
