Obama Camp Cancels FL TV Interview over Tough Questions

Unpleasant Media Questions:
Obama Campaign Cancels Interview with Florida TV Station

Paul Joseph Goebbels was a German politician and Reich Minister of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda in Nazi Germany from 1933 to 1945. He was one of German dictator Adolf Hitler's closest associates and most devout followers.
Joseph Goebbels

Joseph Goebbels was famous for controlling the flow of information and news in Nazi Germany. To be clear: we are not saying the Obama campaign is a Nazi organization--though comparisons between Bush and Hitler have been a favorite staple of leftie blogs for most of the Bush administration.

We're just saying: Herr Goebbels would recognize the Obama campaign's cutting media access off to those who ask unpleasant questions.

Here's a tip to the media, in case they didn't already know it: if you ask any questions of Barack Obama or Joe Biden that aren't of the "softball" variety, you can forget getting anymore access.

From Obama campaign cuts off WFTV after interview with Joe Biden:

Biden so disliked West's line of questioning that the Obama campaign canceled a WFTV interview with Jill Biden, the candidate's wife.

"This cancellation is non-negotiable, and further opportunities for your station to interview with this campaign are unlikely, at best for the duration of the remaining days until the election," wrote Laura K. McGinnis, Central Florida communications director for the Obama campaign.

McGinnis said the Biden cancellation was "a result of her husband's experience yesterday during the satellite interview with Barbara West."

Here's a link to the interview: http://www.wftv.com/video/17790025/index.html.

WFTV news director Bob Jordan said, "When you get a shot to ask these candidates, you want to make the most of it. They usually give you five minutes."

Jordan said political campaigns in general pick and choose the stations they like. And stations often pose softball questions during the satellite interviews.

"Mr. Biden didn't like the questions," Jordan said. "We choose not to ask softball questions."

Jordan added, "I'm crying foul on this one."

Ours may be labeled a "partisan" view. The charge will likely come from many of the same people who delighted in posting "Bushitler" images on the Internet. Campaigns do try to control the flow of news and Obama's is no different.

We just note the lack of 'outrage' from those same quarters that raised a fuss over all things George Bush.

Meanwhile, Big Media can heave a sigh of relief: there's no chance of the Obama campaign canceling any interviews with ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, The New York Times, LA Times or MSNBC.

There's also no chance of Americans learning anything from those "news" outlets--except perhaps, Barack Obama or Joe Biden's favorite color.

St. Petersburg Times: Fabricating Racism to Fit Story?

Media Caught Fabricating White Racists?
by Barbara Sowell
Faultlines USA

A quote attributed to Sandra Cichon, a private citizen, is spreading across the internet as a living example of White Racism. Did a reporter put words in this woman’s mouth?

An article in the St. Petersberg Times, quotes Cichon as having said, “I can't imagine having a black president . . .”

In a phone interview Saturday, Sandra Cichon of Spring Hill, Florida denied that she ever spoke with any pollster or reporter concerning Obama or about anything regarding race. Cichon was taken by surprise when phoned by this reporter, and she was not aware that she had been quoted in any newspaper.

The September 15, 2008 article Black ‘issue’ hangs over presidential polls by Adam Smith of the St. Petersburg Times Political states:

A pollster calling Sandra Cichon, a 60-year-old Democrat from Spring Hill, would hear her identify herself as an undecided voter. But is she really?

"I can't imagine having a black president, and I think he's inexperienced," she told a reporter recently, eventually acknowledging she was leaning unenthusiastically toward McCain. "I don't think we (Democrats) have a chance to be in the White House with Obama."

Many analysts wonder how many voters answering polls hide their racial biases or mislead survey-takers about their real preferences.

The article fails to name the pollster who claimed to have called Cichon. When asked during my phone interview, Cichon denied speaking to any pollster on the phone.

Cichon explained that the only time she spoke with a reporter was in August when she went to vote in the county commission races. She said that he (the reporter) seemed nice and she gave him a catalogue for gift baskets.

Cichon is quoted in an August 27, 2008 article in the St. Petersburg Times, Russell, Mitchell, Hackworth win congressional primaries, by Rita Farlow, Stephanie Garry and John Frank, Times Staff Writers.

Many Democratic voters said they were unimpressed with the quality of the candidates.

"I don't know one from the other," said Sandra Cichon of Spring Hill.

Sandra Cichon shows up in another August 27, 2008 St. Petersburg Times article Dismal voter turnout in Hernando by Barbara Behrendt and John Frank. Times staff writer, John Frank, was a reporter on both August 27th articles.

The response from the St. Petersburg Times was usual, non-denial denial.

Florida Democrats Outraged Over DNC's Decision

After Saturday's decision by the DNC to allow the Florida delegates to be seated at this summer's DNC convention but with only one-half a vote, the reaction of Democrats from the Sunshine State has been one of voters angry enough to contemplate staying away from the polls or possibly voting for John McCain, the Republican candidate.

Florida Senate Minority Leader Steve Geller, D- Cooper City, a super-delegate who hasn't endorsed either Clinton or Obama, felt that the decision by the DNC was "offensive". Geller sarcastically wondered whether Dem Floridians should "only raise 1/2 as much money as we normally raise" and whether Florida should "turn out half as many Democrats as usual".

Rep. Kelly Skidmore, D- Boca Raton, said that Democrats were "extraordinarily upset, beyond what words can describe".

U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Weston, a national co-chairwoman of the Clinton campaign said that emails from constituents contained "pretty deep dissatisfaction" and that the decision made it harder to "motivate voters".

Clinton delegate and Broward County leader Jack Shifrel, was more succinct:

"You'd be an ostrich with your head in the sand if you didn't accept the reality that there are going to be Democrats that we're going to have to work very hard to convince," he said. "There are good decent Democrats that are very upset and it's going to take a lot of work to get them to vote at all."

A Floridian demonstrating in D.C. at the DNC meeting on Saturday gave this reaction when learning of the decision to allow only 1/2 a vote at the Democrat's convention:

``It’s a slap in the face,’’ said Margaret Grostefon, 44, of Fort Lauderdale, who joined the demonstration. ``Fifty percent? It’s like saying we are half of a citizen.’’

``In the general election, I am debating whether to vote at all,’’ she said.

A majority of the anger stems from the 1/2 vote decision. One unhappy Florida voter felt their their "civil rights and constitutional obligations" had been infringed upon:
``I’m not going to make a decision on my vote today,’’ said Vanessa Alikhan, 31, of Fort Lauderdale. ``I’m going to fight for my civil rights and the constitutional obligations that the government has to the people of the United States and ask them to count 100 percent of our votes.’’
A May 21st a Rasmussen poll showed Republican candidate John McCain with a double digit lead over Obama, 50 to 40%. Rasmussen also reported that phone surveys concluded that an estimated 57% would vote for Obama while 27% of Democrats said they planned to vote for John McCain.

According to Rasmussen, even before Saturday's decision, McCain has a 75% chance of winning Florida, a key state in the Presidential election.

While the DNC's decision centered on Florida scheduling its Democratic primary earlier than was allowed the DNC made a crucial error in its decision to penalize the delegates and their votes. The DNC could have looked at other measures, such as "probation". Instead they decided to penalize the very heart and soul of the party, the very people who should count, the voters who showed up for the Democratic primaries. Those voters were dissed by the DNC by declaring the delegates would be "allowed" to be seated at the convention, but would be considered 1/2 vote "outcasts", a ludicrous solution at best.

The attitude of the DNC further underscores the fact that, in the end, the voters were merely a means to more money in donations, that their votes were a sham and a mockery, that, all along, the superdelegates held the key to who will be declared the candidate on the top spot of the Dem's ticket in the 2008 Presidential election.

No one likes to be used and it looks like quite a few Floridians were merely pawns in the Democrat game of Stratego. Close to 1.4 million Democrats voted in the Florida primary. The DNC decision on Saturday has been called a "compromise". The only persons truly compromised were the electorate who cast their ballots believing they would have a voice in choosing the candidate for the Dem's top ticket.

Naked Florida Man Saved from 12 ft. Gator at it Again

In a scene straight out of a horror flick, Polk City, Florida resident Adrian Apgar nearly lost his life against a 12 ft. alligator back in November of 2006 until the police arrived and saved him.

So police were surprised early Thursday when they discovered the naked man they'd found in pond in Saddle Creek Park, who claimed he'd been bitten by a snake while looking for an alligator, was the very same naked man they rescued before, Adrian Apgar.

Adrian Apgar, Clothed

It was 3:45 on a November morning of 2006 when a resident of Polk City heard the faint sound of "someone screaming" from nearby Lake Parker.

Carlos Mayid grabbed a flashlight and cell phone and then called 911 while he tracked down the origin of screams.

Mayid called out when he got close to the shore and voice answered from the murky darkness and thicket of cattails that surrounded the lake .
"I asked him what was wrong, and he said, 'A gator got me,'" Mayid said.
Polk Sheriff's Deputy Billy Osborne arrived on the scene and charged staight through the cattails and muddy water to find Apgar fifteen to twenty foot from the shore, crouched down in chest deep water. Apgar called out that a gator had him pinned, that both his arms were broken, and that another gator was nearby.

Another Deputy, Michael Parker, waded into the water until the two deputies were within a couple of feet of Apgar where they could see the gator had him in its grip. The deputies thought about shooting it, but Apgar was also in the line of fire.

After the alligator let Apgar go, then lunged in and gripped him once again, it was then that the deputies grabbed Apgar's arms and began a tug-o-war with the monster in the dark murky lake.
"He was saying, 'He's gonna kill me!'" Parker said.
After a third deputy arrived the alligator managed to pull Apgar under the water. The deputies feared the worst as they could hear Apgar's screams. At least, they thought to themselves, Apgar's still alive. Then it happened, the gator's grip loosened on Apgar and the deputies were able to pull the 250 pound man to safety.

Apgar suffered serious injuries, a nearly severed left arm, a broken right arm, lacerations to his buttocks and body.

Sheriff Grady Judd said the answer as to why Apgar was nude and in the gator infested lake on a November night was that Apgar had been smoking crack.

No word yet as to why Apgar was found Thursday by Polk County deputies in the early morning hours in yet another body of water, again nude, claiming he was bitten by a snake while looking for an alligator.

Last time, on crack, a gator found him, nearly costing him his life. This time he's being held under Florida's Baker Law, a law which allows "authorities to commit people for psychological evaluations if they appear to be a danger to themselves or others."

Babysitter Charged With Tying Kid Up With Duct Tape

When the ropes that babysitter Charles Osteen used to tie up his 7-year-old charge continued to fail, Osteen turned to duct tape, a reinforced vinyl adhesive tape known to withstand 250 mph winds, but not, to Osteen's chargin and subsequent felony child neglect charge, seven year old boys.

By the time the Port Richey, Florida, babysitter returned from an errand the boy had escaped and gone over to play with neighborhood friends. Someone called 911 after the boy let it slip that his babysitter had duct taped him to the bed, a piece of which still stuck to his tennis shoe.

Osteen arrived before the authorities and took the boy. Witnesses said Osteen had an infant with him inside his car. Police went to Osteen's residence at 9233 Dresden Lane and found no one home. They found a piece of duct tape in the front yard and contacted Child Protective Services.

This was Saturday. It wasn't until Sunday that the police came back and talked to Osteen and the kid.

At first the kid said that he and Osteen were "playing a game" but then told authorities that he had been told to tell them it was a game. The boy also said it was the first time he had been tied up by duct tape.

Osteen told the authorities the kid aggravated him with "obnoxious" noises. Osteen said he warned the kid if he didn't stop he'd tie him up. Osteen said he used "poor judgment". Osteen was charged with felony child neglect, released from the Land O Lakes Jail after posting $5,000 bail.

Mother-Daughter Serial House Trasher - Animal Hoarder Team

They left during the middle of the night, leaving behind 49 dogs and a rental house covered in canine feces with damages a security deposit would hardly begin to cover. They're known as the Mother-Daughter Serial House Trasher and Animal Hoarder Team.

Serial House Trashers, Ann M and Ann H. Centofanti

Pompano Beach Florida cops had to wear HazMat suits when they surveyed the mother-daughter house trashing team's most recent "work." Their second rental home, a mere four blocks from the first house owned by Debbie Hillstrom, which the trasher tag team and animal hoarders demolished and left back in November.

The damage estimates to Hillstrom's house are at 100,000. According to the Miami Herald, Ann M. Centofanti, 44, and her daughter, Ann Hesse-Centofanti, 24, are wanted on charges of grand theft and criminal mischief after they slunk away from landlord Debbie Hillstrom's suburban Florida home in November. The mother-daughter wrecking crew with over 4 dozen dogs then moved four blocks away to their next rental where they shuttered the windows and kept the dogs inside. Authorities said the stench was overwhelming. Hillstrom said her house still reeks even after the house was gutted.

The two women are still on the run after leaving the dozens of dogs behind, most likely renting another abode in the area.

Some people refer to the two women as "animal collectors." People who take up stray or unwanted pets and bring them into their homes.
People who are tormented by the dog and cat overpopulation crisis sometimes try to help by keeping large numbers of animals in their homes or in so-called "no-kill shelters." However, all too often, though these people may begin with the best of intentions, many quickly find themselves overwhelmed with both work and expenses, and the situation for the animals they have taken in deteriorates, sometimes to a horrific degree. Source - Planet Pets
Animal collectors seem to have a disconnect from reality, as they keep adding more and more pets to their "collections" even when it could mean eventual death from overcrowding or starvation for the animal.
PETA investigators found one woman living in a filthy trailer with close to 100 cats and dogs. Others were kept in pens outside. The temperature inside the trailer was in the 90s, and its floors were caked with excrement. Food and water bowls were contaminated with waste and cat litter. Some animals were hiding in cupboards, with trash for bedding. Most were emaciated and ill, some so weak they couldn't stand. Source - Planet Pets
There's no doubt that it will only be a short amount of time before the women will have "collected" another large number of "pets".

We believe animal collecting is a variety of an OCD, or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, as the persons involved no longer see their pets as living, breathing animals but as objects.

Psychiatric Times, 17(4):25-29, 2000, The Hoarding of Animals Research Consortium and R. Frost
Research on animal hoarding is in its infancy, despite its seriousness and the frequency with which it is described in the news media. This article reviews existing literature on the hoarding of animals. Nearly two-thirds of animal hoarders are women, 70% are unmarried, and social isolation is common but appears to result from the hoarding behavior rather than causing it. As people who hoard possessions, animal hoarders often lack insight into the problematic nature of their behavior. A common and peculiar characteristic of animal hoarding is a persistent and powerful belief that they are providing proper care for their animals, despite clear evidence to the contrary. Careful assessment is needed to determine if these beliefs reflect a delusional disorder or overvalued ideation in the context of OCD. Source - Research Digest
The neighbors say they were shocked, that they didn't have a clue:

Roberts, who lives in the building next door, said she only ever saw three dogs outside of the home and never heard loud barking. She often heard a woman screaming loudly, although authorities said the dogs likely were not beaten.

''I was just in total shock,'' Roberts said. ``I was totally unaware of it. I can't believe this was happening just next door.''

Since animal hoarders are adept at keeping large numbers of animals hidden in their own homes, the only clue might be mass purchases of animal food, but that's if the animal collector is still feeding his unlucky "collection. In most cases the animals end up dead from lack of care, illness and/or starvation.

In the end it's the landlord and the authorities who are stuck with the chore of cleaning up after these people and the ultimate "victims," the animal hoarders collection.

The two women are still out there, most likely already settled into their new abode, starting up their next "collection," the newest animal collectors in the neighborhood.

The New Urban Neighbor: Giant Pythons

Albino Burmese Python [Source - Wikipedia]

It was just another day of mowing the roadsides and canals for Jesse Parker. Parker was working a roadside bush mower along the canal south of 12Th Street in Vero Beach when he hit something he thought was a pile of bricks.
"When I backed up, a head popped up. It was huge," said Parker, who works for a company that does contract work for the county.
The head of a 16 ft. python, Parker said he'd only seen something like this "on Wild Kingdom."
Vero Beach Animal Control Officer Bruce Dangerfield said the snake could have eventually grown to 25 to 30 ft. in length. Dangerfield believes the snake was originally someones pet.

"There is plenty for them to eat out there" and warm canal waters to sustain the tropical creatures during the cold, he said. Source - Sun-Sentinel.com
Dangerfield said the discovery of the 16 ft. python was the 20Th large python or boa Dangerfield has come across in the past ten years in Indian River County.

18 ft. Python [Source - Reptile Kingdom]

Two years ago another 16 ft. python was found, this time near 4Th St. and 58Th Ave. The snake was captured and given to a serpentarium near St. Cloud.
VERO BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A 16-foot-long Burmese python was captured on a city street after a passing motorist spotted about three feet of it hanging over a curb and called police.

The brown-and-yellow snake was wrestled into a body bag and taken to the home of Vero Beach Animal Control Officer Bruce Dangerfield.

"This is a very irresponsible owner to let something loose like this," he said Thursday of the late Wednesday capture. "Either it escaped - all snakes are escape artists - or someone let it loose." Source - Giant Python Caught on Florida Street
One couple in Ft. Lauderdale thought they had a raccoon in the crawlspace under their house. Neighborhood cats and dogs began to disappear. They called the business, "Pesky Critters" to come retrieve the pest under the house. The "pest" turned out to be a very fat 22 ft. reticulated python.

Giant snakes are the newest neighbors in Florida's towns and neighborhoods.
Elidia Rodriguez, of Miami Gardens, Fla., had been looking for her 1-year-old Siamese cat for two days when her son found a bulging Burmese python slithering in her back yard. Authorities captured the snake and took it to a nature park.

Veterinarian William Chavez said an X-ray shows evidence that the bulge in the python was indeed from a cat it had eaten.

"Something killed a cat and swallowed it," Chavez said. Source - NBC6 - X-Ray Shows Python Ate Cat
Some of the snakes gone wild are escapees.
JACKSONVILLE, FL -- They're not the neighbors you'd want near your home -- but one First Coast community found enormous pythons slithering down its streets, and one of animals is still on the loose.

Neighbors started calling the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office a few weeks ago, saying they'd seen a large python off Nain Road on the Southside. Florida Fish & Wildlife officers were able to find and capture one of them, a 13-foot male. The eight-foot female is still missing, "said Investigator Ken Holmes with Florida Fish and Wildlife.

Both snakes are albino Burmese pythons that the Florida Fish and Wildlife warns could be a "hazard to small children and pets."

"It was a situation where the same snake escaped at least twice."
Source - First Coast News - 10 Foot Python Roams Southside Neighborhood
The Florida Everglades are dealing with a massive influx of Burmese pythons. It's estimated the Burmese population has reached 5,000 and growing. In 3 years the snake can reach 10 ft. in length. The snake can eventually reach 20 ft. and weight of 300 Pd's.

Biologists believe the snakes are offspring of pets released by their owners or escapees after major storms such as Hurricane Andrew. The same applies to the big snakes hanging out in Vero Beach. The climate is good, the canals and neighborhood backyards full of tasty snacks.

According to the book, The Exotic Amphibians and Reptiles of Florida:

Many of the exotic reptiles in Florida have been introduced as a consequence of the pet trade. Pet snakes are notorious for escaping from cages, even from professional herpetologists, and then getting out of a building. Pet trade facilities can be damaged or destroyed by high winds or trees, resulting in the escape of animals.
Source - Ecoviews - A BURMESE PYTHON COULD BE MORE THAN A PEST

Those at risk from the influx of these reptiles are pets and small animals.

Zero Tolerence Policies Piss Me Off

An Experiment in Subliminally Educating Zero Tolerance Educators.

Florida's citizens rest a little easier today after a dangerous 10-year-old girl was arrested for using a knife to eat lunch at school.

(Zero tolerance pisses me off.}

The forces who push for "Zero Tolerance" laws have an outstanding record this year nationwide: no deaths have been recorded from toy soldiers, fingernail files, drawings of guns or kitchen utensils in schools with zero tolerance rules in effect.

All of the above dangers have led to elementary school thugs being either arrested or expelled for violating zero tolerance laws.
(Zero tolerance pisses me off.)
Zero tolerance led the following potential felon being thwarted by the quick-thinking actions of a lunchroom monitor.
A 10-year old Ocala girl brought her lunch to school and a small kitchen knife to cut it. She now faces a felony charge after being arrested. The school and the sheriff's office disagree on the reason for the arrest.

{Zero tolerance pisses me off.)
Law enforcement raced to the scene to arrest the 10-year-old, but may have violated her rights when her Miranda Rights couldn't be heard over her criminal sobs.
School officials say the 5th grader was brown-bagging it. She brought a piece of steak for her lunch, but she also brought a steak knife. That's when deputies were called.
(Zero tolerance pisses me off.)
It happened in the cafeteria at Sunrise Elementary School. The 10-year-old used the knife to cut the meat.

A spokesman for the Marion County Schools outlined the threat the girl posed.
"She did not use it inappropriately. She did not threaten anyone with it. She didn't pull it out and brandish it. Nothing of that nature," explained Marion County School Spokesman Kevin Christian.
(Zero tolerance pisses me off.)
Fast-acting highly-trained professional educators sniffed out the danger, however.
But a couple of teachers took the utensil and called the sheriff. When deputies arrived, they were unable to get the child's parents on the phone, so they arrested her and took her to the county's juvenile assessment center.

Deputies explained the procedure.
"And we didn't handcuff her or treat her like a criminal. But, we took her to the assessment center to be assessed," said Capt. James Pogue, Marion County Sheriff's Office.

The 10-year-old wasn't treated like a criminal, except to be led away by armed law enforcement personal from an elementary school.
(Zero tolerance pisses me off.)
School officials were quick to confirm why the public holds educators in such high regard.
School officials said it doesn't matter what the knife was being used for. They said they had no choice.

"Anytime there's a weapon on campus, yes, we have to report it and we aggressively report it because we don't want to take any chances, regardless," Christian said.
Teachers' unions want more pay, more benefits and more respect.
(Zero tolerance pisses me off.)
The deputies issued a statement that put them on record as embarrassed. No such statement was coming from the school board, the principal or the teachers.
(Zero tolerance pisses me off.)
But the sheriff's office said the extreme measures in what some may say was a harmless incident had to do with school policy, not theirs.

"But once we're notified, we have to take some type of action," Pogue explained.

The principal levied his justice; the criminal courts will have to decide theirs.
The student now faces a felony charge for the possession of a weapon on school property and the principal suspended her for ten days. The parents of the girl could not be reached for comment.

(Zero tolerance pisses me off.)

[NOTE: This story is such an exhibition of stupidity, it's hard to keep one's thoughts straight. We'll calm down and write another ending as soon as the assholes in zero tolerance schools districts calm down and exhibit any sign of thinking or judgment. And we promise not to try to subliminally influence any educators who may be reading in the future. We're sorry for any inconvenience.]

MySpace: Teenage Girl's Profiles Hacked By Predator

A fifteen year old girl, alone in her room, sees mysterious text appear across her computer screen. The messages are ominous. "Submit nude photos or your family will be harmed."

Reads like a cheesy teen horror flick but it was all too real.
A 33-year-old North Carolina man sentenced Friday to 110 years in prison used "tools of terror" to hack into the computers of Brevard County girls and extort nude pictures from them, an assistant U.S. attorney said.

Ivory Dickerson, a civil engineer, gained remote access to their computers, giving him the ability to type words onto their screens. He was arrested last December after girls at Rockledge High School told authorities their MySpace profiles had been hacked into and the person on the other end was demanding revealing and pornographic images.

He threatened to harm their family members, post nude pictures of them on the Web and, in one case, make a 17-year-old "the most well known girl at school" if they didn't do what he said, according to court records. [1]
Dickerson had hacked into the girls MySpace profiles.
One victim, who was 15 at the time of the incident, told U.S. District Court Judge Anne Conway during Friday's sentencing hearing that she felt as though the computer intruder was watching her every move.

"I was afraid to walk outside because I didn't know if it was the neighbor," the girl said.

MySpace was involved in another high profile story, that of Megan Meiers, a fragile thirteen-year-old Missouri girl who took her life over a cyberbully incident.[2]
No word yet on the steps the cyber-site MySpace has taken to ensure member's profiles are hacker proof.

This predator's method of hacking into the girl's own computers and typing messages onto their screens is flat out creepy. Dickerson was sentenced to over 100 years in prison. His skills would have been better served in international espionage instead of stalking and terrorizing girls online.

Prosecutors Accused Of Being Child Predators Commit Suicide

The Tale Of Two Alleged Predators Posing As Prosecutors

Last October Assistant Federal Prosecutor John Atkinson killed himself after he was caught in a child sex sting.

In today's Houston Chronicle it was reported that child porn was found in a former District Attorney in Texas's home. Fifty seven year-old Louis “Bill” Conradt Jr., caught up in an internet child sex solicitation sting, shot himself last year when the cops showed up at his door.

Atchison’s perverse background was exposed when he was arrested and then arraigned September 17th in U.S. District Court in Detroit. The irony was that Atchison was an assistant U.S. Attorney from the northern district court of Florida.

According to the police Atchison solicited an undercover officer posing as a mother for the opportunity to have “sex” with her five-year-old daughter.

Atchison was arrested at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport and charged with “enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity.”
In deposition, detectives said Atchison suggested the mother tell her daughter that "you found her a sweet boyfriend who will bring her presents."

The undercover detective expressed concern about physical injury to the 5-year-old girl as a result of the sexual activity. Detectives said Atchison responded, " I am always gentle and loving; not to worry, no damage ever, no rough stuff ever. I only like it soft and nice."

The undercover detective asked how Atchison can be certain of no injury. He responded, "Just gotta go slow and very easy. I've done it plenty," according to detectives. Click On Detroit
Conradt, former Kaufman County District Attorney, was caught in an internet sting put together by the NBC show Dateline and the group, Perverted Justice. Conradt was accused of chatting online in a sexual manner with underage kids. A house was set up where those chatting online with the undercover adults were told they could meet the child. When Conradt failed to show up the cops went to his house armed with a search warrant and a Dateline camera crew.
The state investigation into Conradt's death found evidence of the online graphic chats, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety report released to The Dallas Morning News. The chat logs covered topics such as sex, erections and masturbation, according to the investigation.

Also, three laptops, a cell phone and several computer disks found in the home "all contained pornographic material (and) some included child pornography," according to the state's investigation.

The Texas Department of Public Safety asked the state attorney general to allow it to withhold some of the report's contents because it "contains images the Department believes may constitute child pornography."

The attorney general's office granted the request, saying: "The submitted documents consist of photographs of unidentified males who generally appear to be juveniles.

Atchison hanged himself in prison on October 5th. He wrapped a bedsheet around the showerhead of his cell. He was 54 years old. Conradt shot himself in his home. He was 57.

Because they chose suicide neither man had a trial nor conviction, left in the land of the "alleged." This raises a point, both these men were prosecutors. If they were, in fact, pedophiles, what about the cases they prosecuted? Did any those cases involve child sex and/or child pornography cases?

Some might claim that these men were "unjustly" accused and therefore felt killing themselves was their only way out.

Others might have the opinion that these two men, when caught, took the only way they knew out. The fate of child molesters in prison is not a pretty one.

These two cases highlight the fact that predators can be found anywhere in our society. If these two men had been convicted then we would have had known predators in charge of prosecuting their fellow child molesters and pornographers.

As for Achison and Conradt, they chose a different route. Why did they choose suicide instead of trusting the legal system, their own profession? Why didn't they feel they could trust the courts where a man is innocent until proven guilty?

DBKP UPDATE: January 7, 2008 - Gary Zerola: Former Eligible Bachelor's Rape Trial Begins Tomorrow

A look at how a mostly-adoring media--and one pissed-off girl--viewed Gary Zerola over the last seven years.

This story can be classified in a lot of different catagories: "Look How Far They've Fallen", "Examples of Bad Lawyers", or "Karma". Former eligible-bachelor-gone-bad, Gary Zerola was back in the news again. From the Boston Herald:
A high-profile attorney, already facing charges in Boston for allegedly sexually assaulting two teens, “force fed” drugs to an 18-year-old before raping her in a posh Miami Beach hotel, police say.

Gary Zerola was in Florida after sneaking out of state without permission of his probation officer last week to see the Patriots play the Dolphins, officials charge.

The Lynn native, a former Suffolk and Essex prosecutor and one-time People magazine Most Eligible Bachelor is scheduled to go to trial here Nov. 28 on multiple counts of rape and supplying liquor to a minor stemming from two separate charges of rape and attempted rape of 19-year-old women in 2004 and 2006.
Gary sound like he's been a busy barrister. Maybe this story needs to be filed under "Look Where Hard Work Will Get You".
