Video: Destination Earth Teaches What Makes Ameica Great

The Oil Industry as Portrayed in 1956 Cartoon
"Destination Earth"

The American Petroleum Institute presents:
DESTINATION EARTH ~ 1956

Mars is ruled by a dictator named Ogg. The martians are small yellow hermaphrodites with big noses and space helmets. The poor shlubs are herded by soldiers into a space-age coliseum where Ogg forces them to applaud as they endure his criticisms of problems with martian ground transportation ... shitty fuel, too much friction.

A single martian is sent to Earth to find a solution. The intrepid Martian crashes his saucer into a farm, sets forth into the city, learns about the glorious benefits of petroleum, steals a few library books, and heads back to Mars.

He reveals the truths he's learned to the crowd in the coliseum. The crowd is fueled by the spirit of capitalism and the dictatorship breaks down instantly, to be replaced by the Oil Pioneers, the Oil Explorers, and new management.

We learn that a future with oil and competition is: "Destination Unlimited".

Palin Derangement Syndrome for Dummies

Newest MSM Affliction:
Palin Derangement Syndrome
Red Planet Cartoons

“There’s something about this lady that scares the left senseless. As if the left wasn’t already senseless.”
–Neal Boortz

Red Planet Cartoons has already spotted the latest mental affliction to strike the financially-ailing MSM: Palin Derangement Syndrome. The Cartoon above is spot on.

RPC starts off with a little question from Thomas Sowell: Is the MSM 24/7 Palin attack frenzy a knock or a boost?
“The public’s right to know” is often invoked by the mainstream media, when what they are really talking about is the media’s right to smear those that they disagree with politically.

It is doubtful whether the public is half as obsessed with Sarah Palin’s daughter as CNN obviously is. Even before this particular story was hyped, CNN was among those in the media who had become something of a laughingstock for how they had gone overboard in favor of Barack Obama.

Increasingly, over the years, CNN has become less of a news reporting organization and more of a propaganda machine for liberal-left politics. Unfortunately, CNN is not alone.

It was not the newsworthiness of young Bristol Palin’s pregnancy that put it on the front page of the New York Times or interminably on the bottom of the screen at CNN. It was an opportunity for them to try to damage the political career of someone they disagreed with politically.

Red Planet add some clarifying links by Rich Lowry, Stephen Hayes and Michelle Malkin: The Four Stages of Conservative Female Abuse.

And there you have it: PDS boiled down into one easy-to-read post.

Even for pundits and the MSM.

I wonder if any of them will take the opportunity to read it?

Union Card Check: Best Choice is a Free Choice

Your Ad Here

Red Planet Cartoons recently addresses the issue of union coercion in "Prepare To Be Carded".

RPC quotes Glenn Spencer's Union’s Card Check Gimmick.

Today, unions represent a scant 7.5 percent of private-sector workers, with the rest of their members employed in government, their only significant growth market. Demographically, the news is even worse: The largest single group of union members is between the ages of 45 and 54, nearing retirement — while just 6 percent of unionized workers are between 16 and 24.

Sadly, many unions seem to be choosing government power and restrictive legislation as their way out of the wilderness, instead of enhancing their value proposition. The AFL-CIO and its affiliates plan to spend $200 million of their members’ money to elect pro-labor candidates in 2008…

Of course, there's much more at Red Planet, including the usual supporting links at the end for readers who want more information.

Anyone who was raised in a family of a union member knows that unions--especially in the construction trades--serve useful purposes. But unions have to argue their cases on its merits and let potential members decide freely--and without fear of possible consequences--for themselves if union membership is in their best interests.

Having someone looking over your shoulder is no good, whether it's company management or union organizers.

The best choice is a free choice.

Obama's Muslim Background: Clearing Up Misunderstandings

Traveling across the web, the above cartoon turned up.

More specifically, the above interesting cartoon turned up.

It was first posted at a site (jaspar jottings) where the poster was if he was a racist for posting the cartoon.

Of course, it an Obama supporter posing the question. Apparently, it had not occurred that posting carefully-documented information is not usually an M.O. of a racist.

But then, it's much easier to sling names than to think things out.

But the cartoon, by one Jerry Breen, made some pretty interesting, relevant points.

And the fact that Breen had this cartoon up in July 2007--almost 9 months ago--makes him look positively prescient.

Interesting info back in July 2007.

Interesting info still in April 2008.

NBC Generates 'Schlock and Awww'

30 Rockefeller Plaza--headquarters of NBC-- was the scene of shlock and "Awww!" earlier this month.

NBC's schlock--the network initially refused to air a "Salute to the Troops"--and a collective "Awwww" by NBC when it was realized a sizable portion of their audience and others were shocked and upset at their decision.

NBC's initial refusal to air Freedom Watch's 'Salute to the Troops' only highlighted the perception problems surrounding the network known in some quarters as "Nothing But Crap".

NBC quietly announced this week that it was refunding an average of $500,000 per advertiser for failing to hit minimum ratings in their contracts. The unprecedented move, along with MSNBC's perennial basement-dwelling status in both the ratings and the evening TV watching habits of Americans, has generated some other calls--for NBC parent, General Electric, to either fix the low performing network or dump it.

NBC earlier had announced that it had reconsidered airing the MAF tribute.

The cartoon above, Red Planet Cartoons' "NBC Strikes Again", graphically illustrates some reasons why NBC has alienated large segments of the once-robust network's viewers.

Red Planet has gathered some interesting information on the NBC lawyer who refused the FW spot.
The NBC lawyer who refused to allow a non-profit group to air an advertisement thanking American troops for their service has donated at least $45,000 to a host of Congressional Democrats, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, New York Senator Hillary Clinton and the campaign committees of House and Senate Democrats, research by the Majority Accountability Project has found.

Red Planet also has an amusing quote from NBC's Brian Williams, as well as featuring "The Worst Liberal Bumper Stickers".

Get the whole package at RP's "NBC Strikes Again".

"Nothing But Crap" is what viewers, advertisers and, perhaps soon, stockholders believe.

Hsu Indicted, Clinton Excited?

The Occasional Cox & Forkum

From Fresno Bee: Norman Hsu's legal woes likely to follow Clinton.

Norman Hsu was politician's dream who became a nightmare. He knew people, hosted fundraisers, solicited donations. And he was an unabashed fan of Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Now in disgrace, his role as one of Clinton's top money bundlers will dog him and her presidential campaign while law enforcement authorities investigate his business and political dealings.

Eager to sever her links to Hsu, the Clinton campaign this week returned $850,000 in contributions linked to his fundraising activities. But Hsu's troubles aren't over and the spotlight on his political connections won't recede easily.

Hsu is the latest poster boy for rogue fundraising, a man whose political shoulder rubbing reinvented him and then did him in. For Clinton, Hsu threatens to be an unwelcome reminder of the fundraising scandals that pursued her husband and the Democratic Party in the 1990s.

Joseph Birkenstock, a former chief counsel for the Democratic National Committee, said it would be unfair to link her presidential campaign to 12-year-old instances of money laundering and Lincoln Bedroom sleepovers for major Democratic donors.

"But given her last name," he said, "the bar is somewhat higher for her politically than it would be for others."

A Closer Look At:
Che Guevara: T-Shirt Icon

Che Guevara was such a romantic--unless you happened to disagree with his ideas.

At least to the Leftists who never had to worry about his killing ways. The Young Americans Foundation is highlighting the real Che by introducing a new T-shirt explaining about the Cuban guerilla's victims.

You can learn more about it by visiting Red Planet Cartoons, where there's a nice report, plus a picture of Hillary and Che.

She must be a romantic, after all.
