Rudy Giuliani Quotes: Ten Zingers from Giuliani's RNC Speech

Rudy Giuliani's RNC Speech
Republican National Convention
St. Paul, MN - September 3, 2008

"Tough times require strong leadership, and this is no time for on-the-job training."

"And he will keep us on offense against terrorism at home and abroad. For four days in Denver and for the past 18 months, Democrats have been afraid to use the words "Islamic terrorism." During their convention, the Democrats rarely mentioned the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. They are in a state of denial about the threat that faces us now and in the future."

"...you have a resume from a gifted man with an Ivy League education. He worked as a community organizer and immersed himself in Chicago machine politics. Then he ran for the state Legislature — where nearly 130 times he was unable to make a decision yes or no. He simply voted "present."

As mayor of New York City, I never got a chance to vote "present." And you know, when you're president of the United States, you can't just vote "present." You must make decisions."

"Almost exactly one year ago during a Republican presidential debate in Durham, N.H., I said that if I weren't running for president myself, I'd be supporting John McCain. Well, I'm not, and I do."

"We the people" — the citizens of the United States — get to decide our next president, not the media, not Hollywood celebrities, not anyone else.

"...he ran for the U.S. Senate. He won and has spent most of his time as a "celebrity senator." No leadership or major legislation to speak of. His rise is remarkable in its own right — it's the kind of thing that could happen only in America. But he's never run a city, never run a state, never run a business.

He's never had to lead people in crisis. This is not a personal attack ... it's a statement of fact — Barack Obama has never led anything.

Nothing. Nada."

"So, our opponents want to reframe the debate. They would have you believe that this election is about "change versus more of the same." But that's really a false choice. Because "change" is not a destination, just as "hope" is not a strategy."

"In the single biggest policy decision of this election, John McCain got it right and Barack Obama got it wrong. If Barack Obama had been president, there would have been no troop surge and our troops would have been withdrawn in defeat.

Sen. McCain was the candidate most associated with the surge. And it was unpopular.

What do you think most other candidates would have done in that situation? They would have acted in their own self-interest by changing their position. How many times have we seen Barack Obama do that?

Obama was going to take public financing for his campaign, until he didn't. Obama was against wiretapping before he voted for it. When speaking to a pro-Israel group, Obama favored an undivided Jerusalem, until the very next day when he changed his mind.

I hope for his sake, Joe Biden got that VP thing in writing."

"And as a former U.S. attorney, I am impressed by her success in combating corruption — when she found unethical and illegal behavior among the power brokers of her own party, she did not hesitate — she acted courageously and independently. That's the kind of reformer we need — she shook up Alaska. She'll shake up Washington."

When Russia rolled over Georgia, John McCain knew exactly how to respond.

Having been to that part of the world many times and having developed a clear worldview over many years, John knew where he stood. Within hours, he established a very strong, informed position that let the world know exactly how he'll respond as president. At exactly the right time, John McCain said, "We're all Georgians."

Obama's first instinct was to create a moral equivalency — that "both sides" should "show restraint." The same moral equivalency that he has displayed in discussing the Palestinian Authority and the State of Israel.

Later, after discussing it with his 300 foreign policy advisers, he changed his position and suggested that the "the U.N. Security Council" could find a solution. Apparently, none of his 300 advisers told him that Russia has a veto on any U.N. action. Finally Obama put out a statement that looked ... well, it looked a lot like John McCain's.

Here's some free advice: Sen. Obama, next time just call John McCain.

"This country [Romania] could only be governed through the mouth of a machine gun"
--Corneliu Vadim Tudor, 1998 (quoted by CNN, December 9, 2000)

Klezmer Conservatory Band
Rumania, Rumania

This basis for this post and any translations provided within brought to you courtesy of my contacts in Romania. All extraneous links by me:

Corneliu Vadim Tudor: Arch-Jew-hater, Hungarian-hater, Gypsy-hater, Slav-hater, etc., friend of Libya, "Palestine" and the Arab world, author of grovelling odes to former "Most Beloved Son of the People" Nicolae Ceausescu and "Mother of the Nation" Elena Ceausescu) has clung onto his position as Vice President of the Romanian Senate following political horse-trading and a deal struck with the very party which had been his sworn enemy, a party that had had seemed to promise light at the end of the sewer of the compromised politics of Romania's post-communist "transition".

Romanian politics is murky (and highly corrupt) at the best of times. The amazing thing is that he was propelled into the position of vice-president of the senate by the Democratic Liberal Party, the sworn enemies of Vadim and the Greater Romania Party. Basescu, President of Romania, is supposedly Vadim's #1 enemy....

As far as Vadim as Vice-president of the Romanian Senate goes- in fact, he was already Vice-president, the whole scandal erupted because the Liberal Democratic Party (Partidul Democrat - Liberal, PD-L) - which is supposedly anticommunist and against everything the Greater Romania Party stands for - cut a deal with Vadim that now enables him to cling on to the position. In other words, Vadim being Vice-President of the Romanian Senate is just business as usual as far as Romanian politics is concerned. What is shocking is that the PD-L, supposedly the only party with so much as an iota of integrity, are now cutting deals with Vadim. So it wasn't the case that he was elected to the position - he already occupied it.

In addition to the vicious anti-Semitic diatribes published by his party newspaper, Vadim was also notorious in the 90s for saying that he would organize public executions of intellectuals by machine gun in football stadiums if he came to power. In 2000, he lost a presidential run-off with "ex"-communist (in fact, not even "crypto"-communist) Ion Iliescu, who had organized the brutal repression of demonstrations against neo-communism in 1990, when the miners rampaged through Bucharest, causing many deaths and countless instances of grievous bodily harm.

In 2000, even those who had been victims of Iliescu's repression preferred to vote for him in order to prevent Vadim becoming president. Nobel Peace Prize laureate Elie Wiesel who was born in Romania, returned his Star of Romania (the country's highest honor) when President Ion Iliescu awarded the same decoration to Vadim Tudor shortly before leaving office. Vadim's Star of Romania was later withdrawn (the first time the decoration has ever been withdrawn) when Traian Basescu became president.

The above video is from a news report on how Vadim and his henchmen disrupted the speech to a joint assembly of the Romanian Parliament and Senate on 18 December 2006 in which President Basescu officially condemned the former communist regime as "criminal and illegitimate"

From a pro-Vadim bio:
His party's doctrine is that of the study, cognition and dissemination of the Romanian national values. He was often accused of xenophobia and Antisemitism. But in the last years he tempered his speech by adopting a pro-European and philo semitic position.

He was tried having many insult and calumny accusations because of his "Great Romania" written articles (signed with his real name and with his underground name- Alcibiade). Corneliu Vadim Tudor, along with The Great Romania Foundation initiated "The Christian Supper" humanitarian project
Why is this important? Why should you give one rat's ass what is going on in Romania? I'll tell you why - darkness is falling once again all over Europe, mah ferals. And it is falling fast. Like DeWinter in Belgium and LePen in France, the European Fascists are rising on the wings of jihad and multiculturalism. Putin struts around shirtless, shooting tigers, invading nations and tossing threats around with impunity. You'd better care what is happening in Europe.

European leaders take note, fascism is not dead

BTW there is zero on the web in English or any other language that I could find on Vadim's so called Great Romania Foundation or The Christian Supper humanitarian project.... but here's some other articles I did find:

Corneliu Vadim Tudor (b. November 28, 1949) is leader of the ultra-nationalist Greater Romania Party (Partidul România Mare).

During the reign of Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceauşescu, Tudor was energetic in his praise (in prose and poetry) of the dictator. In 1989 he switched from communist to ultra-nationalist after Ceauşescu's fall and execution in 1989. In June 1990, with the approval and encouragement of Romanian leaders Ion Iliescu and Petre Roman, Tudor and his maître founded the national-communist weekly România Mare ("Great Romania"). România Mare has been sued for libel with stunning frequency, often for Tudor's own writings (which he usually - if not always - signs under a pseudonym).

Tudor regularly lauds Romania's former communist dictator Nicolae Ceausescu, and has pledged to fight "the transformation of Romania into a foreign colony".

Special targets for Tudor include Jews, whom he describes as "the source of all evil", the country's Hungarian minority and Gypsies whom he wishes to see enclosed in "ghettos".

In 1991, Time magazine described the Greater Romania Party as "a crude mixture of anti-Semitism, racism and nostalgia for the good old days of communism." To this, one ought to add ultra-nationalist, anti-Magyarist, and anti-gypsy.

Oddly, for an ultra-nationalist, Tudor supports Romania's entry into the European Union and wishes to remain in NATO. Al-Ahram has called him the "Jean-Marie Le Pen of the Carpathians,"[1]. Between 1993 and 1996, he assembled his party into the leftist "Red Quadrilateral" coalition.

Tudor's and his party's change from National-Communism to Ultra-Nationalism took place after 1996. In 1999, Dan Corneliu Hudici, a former reporter at România Mare, claimed there was a "secret blacklist" of dozens of politicians (including then-president Emil Constantinescu), journalists, and businessmen to be arrested if Tudor's party came to power. This allegation only increased his popularity.

Changing his convictions to "Christian-Democracy" as of 2004 Tudor supports Romania's entry into the European Union and sustains its presence in NATO. In 2003, Tudor dramatically changed his stated views of Jews, Judaism, and the Holocaust.

In a letter of February 1, 2004, he renounced certain earlier statements he had made as inappropriately anti-Semitic; further, he wrote, "I know that I was wrong to have denied the Holocaust in Romania, which happened between 1941 and 1944 under Antonescu's regime." Some have publicly questioned the sincerity and motivations of this change.

(No!)

In the first round of the Romanian presidential elections on November 26,2000, Tudor finshed second with 28% of the vote. (Four years earlier, he had com in fifth.) However, nearly all other parties backed Ion Iliescu in the December 11 runoff, and Tudor only picked up five additional percentage points, while Iliescu surged from 36% to 67%.

Biographical information:

Born in Bucharest November 28, 1949 into a working-class family. His father was, at one time a Baptist priest, but he now professes the Romanian Orthodox religion.

Received a degree in Philosophy from the University of Bucharest in 1971

In 1975, he studied at the School for Reserve Officers in Bucharest

In 1978-1979 his scholarship was honored with a Herder prize, which allowed him to study history in Vienna

He worked as a journalist, editor, and poet under the communist regime; in the early 1970s, he edited the magazine România Libera ("Free Romania") and after 1975 was an editor at the Agerpress agency.

Has served as a Romanian Senator since 1992.

On September 25, 2001, Tudor gave up his parliamentary immunity from prosecution.
He has written at least 10 volumes of poetry and political commentary, at least one of which has been translated into French, English, and Arabic. He has also written for the stage. He is married with two children.

THE ANTI-HUMANS:

This account, as I have said, deals with prisons in Romania, but the procedures used there have been and are used wherever the anti-humans have gained control. Identical procedures, together with such improvements as may have been suggested by their experiments and delights in Romania and other captive nations, will be used everywhere that their power is extended including, of course, the United States, if that nation reaches the goal toward which it is presently moving at a vertiginous speed.

If the Americans succumb, they will remember this book as a prophecy that was completely fulfilled.

Between Sacrifice and Suicide:
Petre Tutea (1902-1991) was a Romanian philosopher, imprisoned and tortured by the communists. During his time in prison, he developed a theory of "spiritual stupidity" or "metaphysical autism" by observing those who tortured him. Homo sovieticus is one sub-type of what Tutea calls "homo stultus", the embodiment of spiritual stupidity and hatred of God, the opposite of homo religiosus. Homo stultus "in his spiritual stupidity applies the logic of facts to the domain of mystery, remaining captive in this world in which he acts mechanically, like a 'spinning top'.

John Edwards Affair: Andrew Young, Deadbeat Dad

Your Ad Here

John Edwards' News:
John Edwards - Rielle Hunter
Fred Baron - Andrew Young - Frances Quinn Hunter

Andrew Young, Deadbeat Dad?

Where is Gloria Allred?

Where are all the child advocates?

Who speaks for 26-week-old Frances Quinn Hunter?

The National Enquirer has reported that Andrew Young--the loyal campaign foot soldier who took a bullet for the team and claimed he was the father of Rielle Hunter's daughter, Frances--"has never given her [Hunter and daughter] a dime.

"Andrew Young hasn't paid a red cent to Rielle or her baby Frances because he's never had a relationship with Rielle and he's not the father," revealed a close source.

"He hasn't even spoken to Rielle in almost two months since she lived with him and his wife Cheri and their three kids in Santa Barbara, Calif., as part of the cover-up.

If that is all true--and the Enquirer has batted 1.000 in the story thus far--that would make Andrew Young a deadbeat dad.

[Background information: access over 100 DBKP stories on the John Edwards-Rielle Hunter affair, scandal and cover-up: John Edwards Love Child Scandal Library.]

It's been reported that Andrew Young, Cheri Young and their children have tired of Southern California and made their way back to North Carolina. For a time, reports were that they moved back into the Governor's Club house of ex-NBA player, Eric Montross.

Andrew Young is awaiting the finishing of construction on a new home--which will be valued at well over $1 million--which is said to be the payoff for his claiming paternity for Hunter's baby.

Actually, that is going too far: Young has never claimed to be the father of Frances Quinn Hunter. There was no name on the birth certificate. Young has never, according to the Enquirer, "paid a dime" in child support.

In fact, the only time that Andrew Young claimed to be the father was back in December.

Once.

Through a Fred Baron-arranged attorney.

In response to the National Enquirer's December edition of the scandal.

Young's attorney provided a statement at that time--no other statements have been provided--and no other announcements were forthcoming or needed. But the lone statement accomplished its intention: it quelled any curiosity in the MSM over the strange events of Edwards, Hunter, Young and the campaign's handling of the the escapade.

It allowed CBS News' Bob Shieffer to roll over and go back to sleep.

There's no report of Andrew Young ever being asked about his relationship with Hunter by any MSM reporter. The Enquirer reports that "now Andrew Young has simply clammed up".

Our observation: not much clamming up was needed.

The MSM? They're too busy looking into McCain VP pick, Sarah Palin, and the "bloody, dead caribou the mom just shot."

Which leads to this story of Andrew Young, the tight-lipped deadbeat dad--and the equally-tight-lipped child advocates of the left.

The Enquirer's source continued, "The Youngs no longer have contact with Rielle. Now if Andrew was indeed the father, don't you think Rielle would be asking for child support?

"But Andrew never has supported Rielle financially."

Who has been supporting Rielle Hunter and daughter, Frances Q.?

SHE AIN'T HEAVY, SHE'S EDWARDS' BABY

Fred Baron hasn't been making many statements, other than the occasional lawyerly deflection to the Dallas Morning News. Oh, and his dodging an ABC News team that was shadowing him at the Democrat National Convention.

For their investigative trouble, ABC producer, Asa Eslocker, got bum-rushed by the cops, pushed into traffic and choked, before being arrested.

However, that was only a blip to the brave members of the MSM Fourth Estate.

Former Texas Attorney General Jim Mattox seems to sum up the Fred Baron attitude toward any unwanted publicity over Baron's payments to Rielle Hunter.

"You know they indicted me, but we survived it," said Mr. Mattox, who was acquitted of a felony bribery charge in 1985."

Mr. Baron, who attended the brunch with his wife, Lisa Blue, didn't appear to see the connection. "Hey, I've done nothing wrong," he said.

Mr. Baron is absolutely confirmed in his above opinion by the intrepid reporters of the MSM--ABC excepted.

EDWARDS EXPANDS, THEN CONTRACTS, HIS SPEAKING SCHEDULE

John Edwards first sought last week to "fill out" his speaking schedule. He ran from that pronouncement almost as as quickly as he did when pursued by National Enquirer reporters in the Beverly Hilton.

Perhaps, with a little help from his friends at the DNC and the Obama-Biden campaign.

Only last week, a spokesman said that John Edwards was looking to fill out speaking schedule. So, he followed in the footsteps of his wife and canceled his speaking appearance at Hofstra University. Strange way to expand your appearances.

“Nothing is more important than electing Barack Obama and Joe Biden,” Edwards said in a statement released Thursday by the Harry Walker Agency in Manhattan. “I don’t want my appearance at these events to be a distraction from the important issues of the election, or from the important purpose of these meetings.”

Which prompted Simon at Deceiver to raise the question: Is Edwards admitting that he's a political liability?

Hey, wait a sec… I thought Edwards was a private citizen? I thought this scandal had absolutely nothing to do with Obama? But there it is in black and white gray and slightly lighter gray: Edwards just went out of his way to link himself to Obama. Otherwise, why would appearing in public be a distraction from Obama’s campaign?

All good questions.

All good questions that won't be appearing on CNN or in the New York Times.

If those two stellar members of Big Media had handled the Edwards and Palin stories in the same manner, Palin would have had to bought time and space to get her name mentioned.

CONVENTIONS A BLESSING FOR EDWARDS, MSM

The two-week convention season was heaven-sent for both John Edwards and the Mainstream Media: Edwards didn't see the odd newspaper story with his name in it; and, the Mainstream Media had a toy: John McCain VP pick, Gov. Sarah Palin, of Alaska.

Edwards and Rielle Hunter's personal lives were not news when he was running for president.

The elaborate and bizarre cover-up that Edwards undertook was not news, either.

First, loyal Edwards' operative, Andrew Young--who initially claimed he was the father Hunter's baby--moved a pregnant Hunter a few blocks away from his wife and their small children in Chapel Hill, NC. When the Enquirer tracked Hunter down to NC, Edwards' money-man, Fred Baron, got involved.

Baron flew Hunter, Young and Young's wife and children to Santa Barbara, where, in a sort of modern-day Beverly Hillbillies twist, they all lived in the same multi-million dollar house as one happy family.

That not news to the MSM.

July 21, John Edwards got caught by the National Enquirer's reporters leaving Rielle Hunter's hotel room in the Beverly Hilton at 2:40 in the morning. When confronted, Edwards ran into a men's room, barricaded the door and had to be rescued by hotel security guards.

Again, to the MSM, this was not news, even though Edwards had been identified as being on the Obama VP shortlist that same week by Time. The fact that the possible Dem VP was hiding in a hotel mens room didn't enter into the "vetting process" of Time's Joe Klein.

The teen-aged father of Bristol Palin's baby caught the keen journalistic eye of Klein and his comrades; the father of Rielle Hunter's baby, didn't.

Nothing interested Big Media: until ABC got involved and confronted Edwards on August 8. Edwards then gave his blessing to the MSM to inform their readers/viewers about the unpleasant situation.

Here's a tip for the Mainstream Media: tell your remaining news customers that you're trying to make up for your lack of investigation in the John Edwards' scandal by doubling your investigative efforts on Sarah Palin's 16-year-old pregnant daughter.

It's not believable.

But, it doesn't have to be believable to be a hit at the next cocktail party that Joe Klein attends.

Sarah Palin: Top Ten Signs Palin May be an Orthodox Jew

Your Ad Here
Palin an Undercover OJ?

Shmuel, our point man at Vanity Kippahs notices things. Some of the things he notices, we notice.

Shmuel noticed "Anyways, I am starting to think that Sarah Palin has all the symptoms of being an Orthodox Jewess".

We'll let him make his case and the readers can decide for themselves.

10- Her husband Tom is part of a Union. And union rhymes with Minyan.

9- She fired the chef in the governors mansion. No Orthodox Jewish woman wants another cook messing in her kitchen…

8- Palin gets French style pedicures. Need I say more?

7- The stylish pile-on hair style, seems like something straight fromYaffa Wigs

6- The name of her youngest child is Trig; the second most popular male name for babies born in Hasidic communities; wedged between Mendy and Yolie.

5- She bears an uncanny resemblance to Yentel; taking on the establishment and being unafraid of the males in charge.

4- The name of her future son-in-law is Levi.

And the Top Three Reasons Sarah Palin may be an Orthodox Jew?

Well, for those you'll have to click on 10 Signs Sarah Palin could be an Orthodox Jew at his blog at Vanity Kippahs.

He may have a point. Is Shmuel onto something here?

What do you think?

Newest MSM Affliction:
Palin Derangement Syndrome
Red Planet Cartoons

“There’s something about this lady that scares the left senseless. As if the left wasn’t already senseless.”
–Neal Boortz

Red Planet Cartoons has already spotted the latest mental affliction to strike the financially-ailing MSM: Palin Derangement Syndrome. The Cartoon above is spot on.

RPC starts off with a little question from Thomas Sowell: Is the MSM 24/7 Palin attack frenzy a knock or a boost?
“The public’s right to know” is often invoked by the mainstream media, when what they are really talking about is the media’s right to smear those that they disagree with politically.

It is doubtful whether the public is half as obsessed with Sarah Palin’s daughter as CNN obviously is. Even before this particular story was hyped, CNN was among those in the media who had become something of a laughingstock for how they had gone overboard in favor of Barack Obama.

Increasingly, over the years, CNN has become less of a news reporting organization and more of a propaganda machine for liberal-left politics. Unfortunately, CNN is not alone.

It was not the newsworthiness of young Bristol Palin’s pregnancy that put it on the front page of the New York Times or interminably on the bottom of the screen at CNN. It was an opportunity for them to try to damage the political career of someone they disagreed with politically.

Red Planet add some clarifying links by Rich Lowry, Stephen Hayes and Michelle Malkin: The Four Stages of Conservative Female Abuse.

And there you have it: PDS boiled down into one easy-to-read post.

Even for pundits and the MSM.

I wonder if any of them will take the opportunity to read it?

Obama's Community
Palin's MSM Fallout
Edwards a Libility

A Community Organized

Sarah Palin doesn't have a lot of use for community organizers. Democrats are aghast, but most of America doesn't have any use for them, either. Chicago has community organizers: how's the Windy City's community organized?

Democrats.org say that community organizers are how ordinary people respond to out-of-touch politicians and their failed policies. Doug Ross responds, "Do tell. For the last 77 years, Democrats have controlled Chicago." Oops!

Chuck Norris calls the Democrat Nominee "Puff, the Magic Obama". Well...Obama did say--in one of his better lines of the campaign--the "idea was to inhale".

Barack Obama, phone home: your city needs you.
In a cbs2chicago.com report published today, Chicago’s CBS affiliate reported some incredible news: the city’s 125 summer murder total nearly doubled the number of soldiers killed in Iraq during the same time period.
One statistic you won't see Harry Reid calling a press conference to announce.

Palineous

JWF says that a renowned community organizer whined like a little bitch today after getting gangster-slapped by the hockey mom" and points out that a certain community looks a bit unorganized. For equal time, we refer the reader to PJ's This is Why.

More equal time: The United Steelworkers' Union admits that Todd Palin is a union brother--and then treats his family like red-headed stepchildren. Shoebox thinks Hell Hath No Fury Like (Bitter) Women Scorned. No, not Sarah Palin, the has-beens at NOW. The Palin Bounce. CBS Poll McCain 42, Obama 42.

Newt Gingerich verbally body-slams an MSNBC reporter
who thinks he's talking to another member of the media instead of the former Speaker.

Speaking of slams, RR calls a certain left-wing nutroots site, "The Daily Kock".

BRINGING THE HATE BOOMERANGS ON MSM: Rasmussen says American, after the MSM `went 24/7 Kill Mode, view Palin more favorably than either McCain or Obama. Bringing the heat means bringing the love, at least in this latest example of the MSM injecting itself into the news instead of just reporting it.

OPRAH says, "no" to Palin; though her staff is split on the issue. This is understandable: Oprah actively campaigned for Barack Obama earlier on.

Only last week, a spokeman said that John Edwards was looking to fill out speaking schedule.

Sarah Palin: How Liberals View Sarah Palin

Attack Sarah Palin!
The Left Fumbles for a Response:
Two Attempts

One messageboard, two comments: one point of view, two candidates.

How liberals view Sarah Palin--and her differences with Barack Obama.

From comment #121, TheBlueOne, a href="http://www.qbn.com/topics/564038/?page=7">QBN: Sarah Palin

Newberry said it better than me, so I'll quote:

"Her politics don't add up. She's a free market socialist: her state lives on checks from oil socialism. She's an anti-family June Cleaver, voting to slash funds for other people's disabled children, even as she has ridden on Easy Street up the ladder. She's an anti-choice libertarian: for a broad reading of the 2nd amendment, and a narrow reading of all the others. She's small government on libraries, and big government on bridges and hockey rinks. Lower taxes on home owners, while she pries pennies from children for their afternoon snack. Palin doesn't make sense as a politician. And it as a politician that she needs to be attacked."

But she's being attacked as a hockey mom who was a mayor of a podunk town with a pregnant teenage daughter and another kid with down's syndrome. It's just moronic. I keep saying this but the Obama believers keep pooh-poohing me but Palin was a pick of fucking genius for MCCain's candidacy. But her politics just suck, but she will not be attacked on her politics because she offers of many other low-hanging sensationalist fruit targets that are honey to the media flies.

From comment #140, morilla, QBN: Sarah Palin

Town budget, $8 million (3 millionths of the Federal budget), approximately 100 employees. Reduced property taxes but increased sales taxes. Fired the Wasilla police chief, citing a failure to support her administration. (He then sued Palin on the grounds that he was fired because he supported the campaign of Palin's opponent, but his suit was dismissed when the judge ruled that Palin had the right under state law to fire city employees, even for political reasons.) Hired a DC lobbyist to bring $8 million in earmarks to the city.

Him: sponsored 800 bills. Her: swayed 616 voters.

2001 - 2004

Supported abstinence-only education.Currently under a bipartisan investigation for abuse of power for dismissing Alaska's Public Safety Commissioner. Commander-in-Chief of the Alaska National Guard, but has played no role in national defense activities, even when they involve the Alaska National Guard. (The entire operation is under federal control, and the governor is not briefed on situations.)

Obtained her first passport in 2007 to perform visits to the Alaska National Guard in Kuwait and Germany. (Foreign experience so limited that a stopover in Ireland listed on her resume.)

Him: Impressive figure on the national stage who knows how Congress works and is engaged with foreign policy issues. Her: small state governor for 21 months; "next to Russia", but that is just 1 of the 190 countries in the world she has never been to.

Conclusion: the word "executive" is not some kind of magic force multiplier when placed in front of the word "experience".

Readers are left to supply their own context and make their judgments as to validity of the above.

All liberals don't view Sarah Palin like the two above: those who work the MSM shift of the Obama campaign aren't as articulate as the two forum commenters above.

Sarah Palin Reactions: The Usual Swamp Gas

September 4, 2008

Who's saying what when.

Ann Coulter calls the MSM on Sarah Palin
. Coulter on the MSM's non-story that John McCain's campaign didn't vet Palin: "As this goes to press, the latest media-invented scandal about Palin is that McCain didn't know her well before choosing her as his running mate. He knew her well enough, though admittedly, not as well as Obama knows William Ayers."

Who speaks for the MSM? Joe Klein of Time does!
The second thing is more insidious: [senior McCain aide] Steve Schmidt has decided, for tactical reasons, to slime the press. He wants the public to believe that there is an unfair--sexist (you gotta love it)--personal assault going on against Palin and her family. This is a smokescreen, intended to divert attention from the very real and responsible vetting that is taking place in the media--about the substance of Palin's record as mayor and governor.

Klein is the same brave reporter that asked John Edwards a boatload of questions in Klein's responsible vetting of that then-presidential candidate. Oh, wait...Klein kept his mouth shut like a good little foot soldier. Never mind, just the ultimate MSM insider lapdog, who can't see the forest for the trees.

FEAR and SELF-LOATHING in the MSM

Larry Johnson says Sally Quinn feels guilty about her own situation: that's why she launched her version of the Mainstream Media's Palin attack du-jour.

So what’s her problem? Well, to use her logic, she’s a lousy, irresponsible mother. She was working as a journalist at the Washington Post, had a fling with the boss and married him, and then, at the advanced age of 41, had a child....Quinn wrote about her son and his medical challenges in a 2006 article “What My Son Taught Me About God.” Well, God may have been teaching but she didn’t learn jack.

Community organizers demand an apology from Sarah Palin. To which Charles Johnson responds, "Heh. Good luck with that."

Rasmussen poll: 51% of Americans think the media is trying to hurt Sarah Palin and 39% of them think she has more experience than Obama.

The Nation's proud progressives insist that Palin's speech was a flop. Jonathan Alter thinks Palin "keeps the experience question alive". A journalistic birds-of-a-feather two-fer.

The New York Post says Palin is a "She's a Pit Bull with Lipstick".
Sarah Palin introduced herself to the nation last night with a part-folksy, part-fiery convention speech, tongue-lashing Barack Obama and her critics and saying she's been slammed simply for being a Beltway outsider.

AP apparently considers conservative women a majority of the country: Where are minorities on RNC's prime-time stage?.

McCain's lovefest with the press is now over, according to Todd Warner Huston. If it wasn't before, it is now.
For those who say that the Maverick can’t learn a new lesson, Bloomberg has a story that proves John McCain has at least learned this lesson; the media is not his friend. Pronouncing that McCain’s “longtime love affair” between himself and the media is “on the rocks,” Bloomberg reports on how McCain has been distancing himself from the media of late. Naturally, Bloomberg takes a few shots along the way, too.

Swearfinger swears that Obama's best speech-writer is the Chicago Housing Authority? Who could argue that the Windy City--and any big city--doesn't need "CHANGE!"?

Detroit mayor, Kwame Kilpatrick's going to jail
and Crippy wonders, "Hey, what's Marion Barry doing these days?"

The AP's already "stretching the truth" on the Palin speech: "Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and her Republican supporters held back little Wednesday as they issued dismissive attacks on Barack Obama and flattering praise on her credentials to be vice president. In some cases, the reproach and the praise stretched the truth." The AP is that investigative whirlwind that whined it could not report on the John Edwards scandal for ten months because it was too hard to investigate. With Palin, though, it's all about the "fact-checking". Palin's 'Scarlet R' behind her name makes the fact-checking a lot easier for the AP--and more palatable.

Froma Harrop seems down in the dumps: maybe it's the dinner company she keeps?
I had dinner last night with a Republican-leaning independent who was despondent over John McCain's choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate. She had been looking forward to supporting McCain as a fiscal conservative with a deep understanding of foreign relations. But all she could now see was that picture of Palin's pregnant 17-year-old looking defiant and stupid as she held mom's fifth baby.

Harrop's dinnermate wonders, "Don't they have birth control in Alaska?" while the headline on the piece insists that "Palin's Social Views Hurt Ticket". Harrop shows promise as a Real Live MSM pundit: seeking out someone that agrees with her so that she can state her case through the words of a "Republican". Harrop has no qualms about describing a pregnant 17-year-old Bristol Palin as "defiant and stupid". She knows she's safe there: no blowback in the MSM over that. But what would the result have been if Bob Novak would have applied that same label to any of the children human shields--or their parents--the Dems used in the S-CHIP debate?

Roger Simon says the "media should apologize". The lion should lay down with the lamb, while we're at it.

It's all about the GOP's "cheerful viciousness". Vicious, only if you're Glenn Greenwald trying to describe people whose views differ from his own.

Andrew Sullivan got tired of picking on 17-year-old pregnant girls and now is raising the alarm: Wasilla is the Meth Capital of Alaska.

At Slate, John Dickerson explains "why the smiling, sudden, relentless Sarah Palin should scare Democrats":
Drill, baby, drill. Sarah Palin was relentless in her speech Wednesday night. She drilled Barack Obama, elites, San Francisco, the press, and civil libertarians. She even went after Michelle Obama.

And that's a few quick-hitters for September 4, 2008. We're going to try this everyday, schedule permitting.
