Geert Wilders: Fitna Producer Charged with Blasphemy by Jordan

Geert Wilders celebration was short-lived.

The Dutch politican's relief on Monday caused charges to be filed against him in another country on Tuesday.

Wilders, the Dutch politician/film producer, was charged by a Jordanian prosecutor with blasphemy and contempt of Muslims. The prosecutor cited Wilders' film "Fitna" as an anti-Koran film and ordered him to stand trial in Jordan, according to Reuters.

Yesterday, Dutch prosecutors stated that they decided that they wouldn't press charges against Wilders because his views in "Fitna" were protected by his right to free speech.

An order was issued to bring Wilders to trial through the Dutch Embassy in Amman, Reuters reported.

Wilders' film "Fitna," which appeared on the Internet on March 27, linked terror attacks by Muslim extremists to texts from the Koran, Islam's holy book.

The Organization of the Islamic Conference, a league of 56 Muslim nations, said it was "deeply annoyed" by the Dutch decision, Reuters reported.

"The decision ... encourages and supports the irresponsible defamatory style followed by some media outlets and instigates feelings of hatred, animosity and antipathy towards Muslims," the Saudi Arabia-based organization said in a statement, according to Reuters.

Wilders' film sparked protests in Malaysia, Indonesia and Pakistan, and several over countries. Several Muslim organizations called for countries to boycott Dutch goods after "Fitna" was released.

The Dutch government has said it disagrees with the tone of the film, but says Wilders has a constitutional right to air his views. The U.N. secretary-general and U.N. agencies have condemned the film. EU foreign ministers have also rejected Wilders' views.

Reuters reported the charges could land Wilders in jail for up to three years.

An order was issued through the Dutch embassy in Amman to bring Wilders to stand trial. The charges carry a maximum sentence of three years in prison, lawyers said.

Wilders, whose right-wing, anti-immigration Freedom Party has nine of the 150 seats in the Dutch parliament, welcomed the Dutch prosecutors' ruling and said he had been careful to limit his criticism to the religion of Islam and not Muslims.

Nothing contributes to a proper seething by Muslim countries like the exercise of free speech. Operators are standing by 24/7 to take your call.

While European freedoms have been pummeled by spineless political elites, PC and multicultural pimps--and an ever-vigilant victim class--occasionally free speech wins a round. Such a victory was delivered by Dutch prosecutor yesterday.

Of course, Jordan has no such history of freedom or concept of "free speech".

The charge in Jordan is another battle for Geert Wilders. If Europe is to survive in any recognizable form, there will have to be many such victories.

Concerned Americans will pray for those victories, while thankful that the USA is not in such dire straits.

Dutch Drug Police Fight For Right to Smoke Pot

Has drugs, but is not a policeman

Drug police in Amsterdam are going to fight for their right to party.

The men in blue (or whatever color Dutch police wear) in Amsterdam, the largest city in the Netherlands, are up in arms over a new code of behavior that orders them to quit using drugs in their free time.

Actually they are in "open revolt.

The new rules, due to come in on January 1, have upset officers who patrol the city’s infamous coffee shops, where cannabis is smoked openly by locals and millions of tourists attracted by Amsterdam’s relaxed atmosphere.

It has been their duty for years to operate a policy of nonenforcement over the coffee shop culture. Now the police union will back its members in defying the cannabis ban. The union has vowed to bring a test case in court against the first officer to fall foul of the new rules, claiming that they amount to an unjustified intrusion into personal life.

Cops are people, too. They want to have some fun.

According to the head of the policemen's union, the cops just "wanna be me".

“Police should not be put in pigeonholes in which they can no longer be themselves,” said Hans van Duijn, the chairman of the Nederlandse Politie Bond, the police union. “If you allow people in the country to smoke [cannabis], you would be a hypocrite to say to the police officers, ‘You are not allowed to do that’.

“It is illegal by law but we allow it for everybody else just to use it in small amounts for themselves. There must be scope for using soft drugs.”

The neighbor kid's mom is always saying that, too: there must be scope for using soft drugs.

Like so many cities around the world, the Dutch masters of Amsterdam have their "image" to consider. Amsterdam's mayor has some big plans.

The code, however, is only the latest example of a backlash against years of Dutch tolerance that have given Amsterdam a seedy reputation that the city’s authorities are keen to reverse.

This month Job Cohen, the Mayor, unveiled plans to convert scores of Amsterdam’s notorious prostitutes’ windows into fashion displays in an attempt to clean up parts of the red-light zone around some of the more attractive streets and canals. He has also led intense efforts to close coffee shops and so-called smart shops, which sell harder drugs such as magic mushrooms.

Dutch drug laws seem a bit confusing.

Supplying and possessing cannabis remains illegal in the Netherlands and police have always been banned from drinking or taking drugs on duty. But the city force now wants all officers to set a better example.

Got that?

“Hitherto, it was only clear that you could not appear at your work drunk or stoned,” a police spokesman said. “We are now saying: You are also seen as a police officer when off-duty.” The use of alcohol is permitted when off-duty but officers should not be seen “drunkenly babbling on the street” in their free time, the spokesman said.

Drunkenly quoting Shakespeare is okay apparently.

The Amsterdam police have another code of behavior already in place--it's kinda like the Boy Scouts.

The code states that officers must behave as “model citizens”. The key words they must live by are “respect, transparency, responsibility, involvement, trustworthiness, justice and balance”.

Mr van Duijn remained defiant. “If there is one police officer who has been smoking a soft drug in private and they catch him, we will go to court to ask to be treated as everybody else.”

The police will go to court so they can be allowed to smoke pot. That's a switch from most countries.

Cool.

Of course, there are the football games to consider.

Unlike the Police Federation in Britain, the NPB union has full powers of industrial action. In a dispute over pay, the NPB has forced the postponement of several top-level football matches this month by refusing to work overtime and is planning to use its strike powers from January 9 if it does not get a better salary offer.

One sympathizes with the Dutch police.

Instead of hoisting a few beers after a hard day's work, why not twist one up?

It would seem to get confusing, however.

Madeline McCann: Case Has Had False Leads and Alarms

Was the news in the Madeline McCann case a hoax, cruel trick or the work of an attention-starved news junkie?

Back in June, a letter was sent to a Dutch newspaper; supposedly it contained news of Madeline's death and the whereabouts of her body.

The letter set off a police investigation of the site mentioned in the letter. Police discovered no body at the location.

It started with the following revelation.

IS Madeleine McCann dead? A letter to a Dutch newspaper. And a map showing where her body can be found. It’s credible:

Police in Portugal are investigating an anonymous letter and a map claiming to show where missing four-year-old Madeleine McCann’s body is buried.

The letter, sent to Dutch paper De Telegraaf, identifies an area 15km (9.3 miles) from where Madeleine vanished.

Authorities naturally had to treat the letter as containing genuine information and dispatched police to the site to follow up.

Portuguese police say they have not found anything in a search of scrubland nine miles from where four-year-old Madeleine McCann went missing.

The search was carried out after a Dutch newspaper published details of an anonymous letter it received alleging Madeleine’s body was under rocks.

Officers said the line of inquiry had now been “discarded”.

Why was the letter considered a lead? The British press had plenty of theories on both the letter, its contents and its author.

It strongly resembles another letter sent to the same newspaper last year, accurately pinpointing where two missing Belgian girls were buried.

Ch Insp Olegario de Sousa said officers were “checking the information”.

Next to a cross and two question marks, the sender writes “vermoedelijke vindplaats Madeleine” - this is the place where Madeleine can probably be found.

A murder investigation. And still only one suspect.

One day on and “BURIED UNDER ROCKS,” says the Mirror’s front –page headline.

The paper notes how the handwriting on the letter is the same as that on the paper giving the whereabouts of Stacey Lemmens and her sister Nathalie Mahy who went missing in Belgium last year.

As the Sun reports, the note says Madeleine is buried “north of the road under branches and rocks, around six to seven metres off the road” in an spot near Odiaxere, close to the Algarve resort from where the girl went missing 42 days ago.

The Mail says the author of this letter and, most likely, the one concerning the Belgian sisters, is unknown to police.

A certain Abdullah Ait-Oud, a convicted paedophile, has been charged with their murders. He denies any involvement. Although police believe he acted with an accomplice who has not been traced.

“MADELEINE IS BURIED HERE,” says the Express on its front page. Portuguese police are searching the area…

That letter proved to be a false alarm in the baffling, and still yet-unfolding, story of the disappearance of the little English girl.

The list of hoaxers and false alarms plagued the case. The letter was neither the first, nor the last.

While the McCanns seemed to be getting their message across, the story also attracted hoaxers and fraudsters. One call was received from a man on an unregistered pay-as-you-go phone in Argentina claiming to know the whereabouts of their daughter, but led to nothing, while an anonymous letter and map sent to an Amsterdam-based newspaper claimed Madeleine was buried in scrubland close to the holiday resort. Some 50 officers and police sniffer dogs were sent to search the area but found nothing.

An Italian man and a Portuguese woman were subsequently held on suspicion of trying to extort money from the McCanns, saying they had information on the whereabouts of their daughter. A man in Eindhoven, Holland, was also arrested for attempting to defraud the McCanns by demanding £1.35m in exchange for information on their daughter.

The first signs of a backlash against the McCanns appeared in mid-June. Chief Inspector Sousa said that the fact that so many people had crowded into the room from which Madeleine was taken was making it difficult for the forensic teams to make sense of DNA samples.

At the same time, thousands of yellow ribbons tied to trees and railings in the McCanns' home village were taken down amid concerns they were attracting "grief tourists". Villagers said that Rothley's main square had become a morbid visitor attraction after it was made the focal point for tributes.

Hopes of finding Maddie were once again raised at the beginning of August when a customer at a restaurant in the Flemish town of Tongeren, not far from the Dutch border, said she was "100% sure" she had seen the youngster. The glass from which the child was drinking was removed for DNA testing. It proved to be a false lead.

The case has had its share of false leads and alarms. One lead that seems to be dead now is the theory that the McCanns were responsible for the girl's abduction.

Still another theory, entertained for awhile, that the body of the little girl, discovered in a cooler on a sandbar, near Galveston, TX and named "Baby Grace" might be that of Madeline's. That theory was shelved after the mother last week confessed to beating and torturing 2-year-old Riley Sawyers.

Riley Sawyers was "Baby Grace", not Madeline McCann.

To be the parents of Madeline, kidnapped from her room while on vacation months ago, every bit of news--true or false--causes pulmonary reactions.

Holding their breath, a sigh of relief, an angry hiss, the sharp intake of breath: all were likely to have been the McCann's reactions to various bits of news over this long stretch of waiting and wondering.

The news of the Dutch letter and the subsequent investigation was a false alarm. Both the police and the parents sort through bits of news.

Both have their own questions. Most of the questions are the same.

Who removed her from their room? Where is Madeline now? Where will all lead?

Police and parents alike are still working on the answers.

At this point, all that can be offered to Madeline's long-suffering parents is speculation.

What is that Odin's cross doing on his shelf at the end of the video, I asked myself? I know when I see it that is only used by two groups of people, Neo-Pagans and White Power groups. This is not an old clip, this is very recent.

To appear "more Flemish" he later changes the spelling of his first name to Filip.

The former president of the Flemish Socialists, Franck Vandenbroucke, will say of him:
"DeWinter is an authentic Nazi" and Louis Tobbak, former minister SP of the Interior, will add: DeWinter is "a psychopath" (quotations extracted the book "Vlaams Blok" by Hugo Gijsels, 1994)

At the end of the seventies DeWinter joins the Jongerenfront or young people front, the Flemish version of the Front de la Jeunesse .

Jongerenfront is at that time in Flanders allied with the Face of Youth (FJ), a group of neo fascist students related to the CEPIC .

Atlas Shrugged Off The Slings and Arrows

More on the Vlaams Belang dust-up in the Netherlands (and the USA).
Atlas Shrugged weighs in with some sober, salient points on the affair.

Philosopher Roger Scruton, who also spoke at a VB event:

As the British conservative philosopher and author Roger Scruton said in a speech in Antwerp last year, the charge of racism and xenophobia in the EU countries “has become the equivalent of a charge of heresy in medieval Europe, of witchcraft in colonial Massachusetts, or of ‘deviationism” in the Stalinist state.” However, as Mr. Scruton pointed out, “we have a duty to brave the charge of ‘racism and xenophobia’, and to discuss every aspect of immigration.”

AS goes on to add, concerning A. Bostom:

Moreover if I might add that Andrew Bostom was SPECIFICALLY requested by the organizers to speak about Antisemitism, AND I included at the end at the of his remarks a specific mention of NAZI Antisemitism in the guise of the annihilationist Johannes von Leers.

Atlas was good enough to include Little Green Footballs' objections to VB:

(1) that the party abstained in the European Parliament from approving the above mentioned Holocaust resolution;
(2) that early this month the party organized a “white supremacist” demonstration;
(3) that Nazi skinheads applaud the party;
(4) that neo-Nazis link to VB videos.

DBKP's take at this point: There are always going to be fringe elements in any group. It's important, after all the accommodations Europeans have made with Islam and immigrants' refusals to assimilate into European societies, to make a stand for Dutch and European culture somewhere along the line.

Because of some objectionable people, the Dutch people should be applauded for raising the question, even at this late hour. With Dutch emigration rising, it's important for assimilation to be stressed now. Whether there are those who take advantage of this concern for their own ends is largely immaterial to the larger debate.

Charles Johnson's been labeled a "Nazi", and worse, the Left countless times. It hasn't dampened his enthusiasm for spreading the truth of the jihadis or their apologists at LGF. No one should shut up because they're called "Nazi".

Either in The Netherlands or the United States.

Dutch Public Broadcasting:TV Station Linked to Radical Islam

One of the pitfalls of government-owned TV and radio stations is that taxpayers are forced to fund enterprises that are anathema to them. If something disagreeable is broadcast on a private station, they have the option of turning it off and not supporting the station, either by watching its offerings or by patronizing its sponsors. They have no such options when the government is taking money from their paychecks and running a broadcasting enterprise.

People are emigrating from the Netherlands as conflicts grow between the easy-going Dutch and their growing Muslim immigrant population. The assassination of Dutch film maker Theo Van Gogh was one example. The Dutch may soon be watching a viewpoint abhorrent to them on their tax-funded TV.

From Islam in Europe:

One of the members of the new board of directors is Yahia Bouyafa, who "is believed to have close ties to the Muslim Brotherhood," as Nova reported. Another is Abdelmajid Kayroun, chairman of the Al Farouq mosque in Utrecht "whose imam was deported from the Netherlands in 2001 for espionage for the Libyan secret service". Also among the eight directors is Mohammed Nanhekhan, a member of the "radical movement World Islamic Mission".

Another slice of the Europe which decries the actions of "American cowboys".
