Ahmadinejad at Columbia: WHEN THE LEFT DOESN'T LISTEN

I would like to address some of the points that you’ve made about Ahmadinejad’s trip to the UN and to Columbia.

“Reactions to Columbia University's decision to invite him have been mixed, and right in line with expectations”

By “expectations” I assume you “expected” some reactions to Ahmad’s visits to automatically occur:

McCain, Giuliani and groups including The Anti-Defamation League have come out swinging against the Columbia-Ahmadinejad coupling, armed with terms like "Holocaust denier," "Persian Hitler" and "state sponsor of terrorism."

You infer by this statement that McCain, The Anti-Defamation League, Guiliani, and “others” are erroneous in claiming that Iran and/or Ahmadinejad are “Holocaust Deniers.” I would like to cite a report from the United Nations Human Rights Council on June 18, 2007, on Iran racial discrimination. In this report the UN cited three acts of anti-Semiticism by Iran:

1. Convening an international conference “questioning the truth of
Of the extermination of the European Jews by Nazi Germany

2. Organizing an earlier Holocaust denial cartoon contest

3. President Ahmadinejad’s repeated calls for Israel to be “wiped off the map.”

The week prior Secretary-General Ban condemned the Iranian leader for his latest statement inciting to “destruction of the Zionist regime.”

It was further noted that Ahmadinejad continued to violate the Genocide Convention’s Article 3 prohibition against incitement to destroy a national group.

In summary, Ms. Ensha, Mr. Ahmadinehad’s forming international conferences to question the truth of the extermination of European Jews by Hitler, his organization of a state sponsored Holocaust denial cartoon contest, his continued vocalizations of his quest to wipe Israel from the map, to destroy all Jews, is not merely the vague “terms’ that you mentioned above.

You also address Columbia and the “dangers” of “curtailing Free Speech.” I agree wholeheartedly with you. Free Speech is essential and must survive in order for us to survive. Because of Free Speech you were able to post your thoughts and opinions, as I am able to respond to yours, as are McCain, Guiliani, the Anti-Semitic League and “others.” They too can raise their voices against Ahmadinejad and what they believe this person to be and to represent.

And finally your last point:

“While all eyes are on Manhattan, precious few are watching what's happening in Washington. On Thursday, Senators Jon Kyl and Joseph Lieberman filed an amendment to the 2008 Defense Authorization Bill that would make it official U.S. policy to "combat, contain and roll back" Iran and its surrogates in Iraq. Section 5 calls for the United States to formally designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps a terrorist organization. If passed, this amendment would open the door even wider for military action against Iran.”

I would like to cite a couple of “terrorist” sponsoring incidents of late by Iran. Just from these two links alone it is not a stretch to conclude that Iran has not only it's fingers but is up to its armpits in sponsoring terrorism.

If Mr. Giuliani is appalled by Columbia rolling out the red carpet to the likes of Ahmadinejad I can sympathize. For this man to attempt to lay a wreath at the site of where over 3,000 innocents were massacred, men, women, children… the hundreds of New York’s finest who rushed to try to save them… I can see why Giuliani spoke out; after all, he exercised his right to his very “Free Speech.” Just as you did in your article.
And just as I am in this rebuttal.

Whether on Larry King or filing a multi-million dollar lawsuit, Dan Rather wants you to feel sorry for him. He was shunned. His self-esteem was damaged by CBS News. Sounds like Dan was the guilty one here. He was guilty of believing all the swill he dished up, newscast by newscast, throughout his years at CBS.

Or a tale of corporate deceit, in which Machiavellian suits sacrifice their own to cozy up to the president of the United States. Or a behind-the-scenes saga of a network news division assembling a story that could help unseat an incumbent president at the polls.

Yawn. Dan's a victim, as usual. Ho-hum.

One of the saddest things, Dan seems to feel, is that CBS fired him the day after Bush's re-election. Those bastards!

The complaint details horrors no sane meglomaniacal anchorman should have to endure. CBS gave him few assignments! Little staff! Very little air time!

So now CBS must prove that the documents that Dan Rather waved in front of the nation barely a month before the 2004 election were false. And Dan Rather will have to prove that he's not a whiny foot-stomper. This whole affair is unseemly. It's as if the cowardly Lion sued the Wizard of Oz.

They wore sandwich boards proclaiming, "Give Us Our Just Desserts" and "They're Carbs, Not Contraband."

At issue is a decision to refuse free doughnuts, pies and breads that were being donated to senior centers around Putnam County, north of New York City. Officials were concerned that the county was setting a bad nutritional precedent by providing mounds of doughnuts and other sweets to seniors.

I'm not sure, but when you start taking either candy from a baby or donuts from an oldster, you're a cad.Like the old Nick Lowe song, NY county officials obviously believe they have to be "cruel to be kind" to the seniors.

The mysterious fires burning out of control across northern Syria has attracted the attention of more than just Smokey the Bear

Israel issued the threat after the news this week that a chemical weapons explosion in Halab, Syria killed dozens of Iranians and Syrians. The explosion at the Syrian test site spread chemical weapons including sarin gas.

Politicians in Israel said yesterday they were not picking a fight with their neighbor, but pledged to forcefully retaliate if chemical warheads come screaming across its shared border.

"We will not attack them first. But if they ever use these weapons against Israel, then we must be clear — it will be the end of this evil and brutal dictatorship," Yuval Steinitz, a right-wing member of the Israeli parliament, told the Daily News yesterday.

Sparking shock waves across the Middle East was a report in Jane's Defence Weekly about an accidental explosion at a top secret Syrian base in July.

Citing Syrian intelligence sources, the report claimed a team of Iranian and Syrian engineers were killed July 26 while trying to arm a Scud-C missile with a mustard gas warhead.

What's the Source? MYSTERIOUS FOUR-DAY FIRES BURN IN SYRIA

Fires have been raging out of control in Syria since Wednesday. Serious fires covering the northern part of the country continue to burn.

Four firefighters died battling forest fires that have been raging in northern Syria since Wednesday, the official news agency said on Saturday.

Planes from neighboring Turkey had joined Syrian teams to try to contain the fires, which had spread to the area around the main road between the trading hub of Aleppo and the port of Latakia on the Mediterranean, the agency said. (Reuters)

The mind boggles, questions abound.

Does this have anything to do with further secret Israeli raids?
Could the reason the fires are so hard to contain be that it may be nuclear material- or chemically related? Is this another radioactive or WMD dot to connect in this suddenly explosive story?

ISRAELI commandos from the elite Sayeret Matkal unit – almost certainly dressed in Syrian uniforms – made their way stealthily towards a secret military compound near Dayr az-Zawr in northern Syria. They were looking for proof that Syria and North Korea were collaborating on a nuclear programme.

Israel had been surveying the site for months, according to Washington and Israeli sources. President George W Bush was told during the summer that Israeli intelligence suggested North Korean personnel and nuclear-related material were at the Syrian site.

Israel was determined not to take any chances with its neighbour. Following the example set by its raid on an Iraqi nuclear reactor at Osirak 1981, it drew up plans to bomb the Syrian compound.

But Washington was not satisfied. It demanded clear evidence of nuclear-related activities before giving the operation its blessing. The task of the commandos was to provide it.

If North Korean lies and deceit were oil, the renegade Asian pariah would be rich beyond belief. The radioactive dots are there for any and all to connect. North Korea suspended its own nuclear weapons talks earlier this month. Was this just another in a long, long line of North Korean deceptions and diversions?

Israeli commandos seized nuclear material of North Korean origin during a daring raid on a secret military site in Syria before Israel bombed it this month, according to informed sources in Washington and Jerusalem.

The attack was launched with American approval on September 6 after Washington was shown evidence the material was nuclear related, the well-placed sources say.

They confirmed that samples taken from Syria for testing had been identified as North Korean. This raised fears that Syria might have joined North Korea and Iran in seeking to acquire nuclear weapons.

While the world waits for the arrival of the President of Iran on US soil to address the UN General Assembly on Tuesday the news of the daring raid by Israeli commandos seizing nuclear material of North Korean origin in Syria has gone largely unnoticed by the MSM.

Ahmadinejad is supposed to directly address the people of the US in an interview with CBS’ “60 Minutes” airing Sunday night along with appearances at Columbia University, after all, Ahmad is an “official” celeb these days. Prior to his leaving Ahmad was up front and center during the “celebration” of the 27th anniversary of the Iraqi Invasion Of Iran.

TEHRAN, Iran - A day before flying to New York to speak directly to the American people, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad struck a confrontational tone Saturday with a parade of fighter jets and missiles and tough warnings for the United States to stay out of the Mideast.
Three new domestically manufactured warplanes streaked over the capital during the parade marking the 27th anniversary of the Iraqi invasion of Iran, which sparked a 1980-88 war that killed hundreds of thousands of people. The parade also featured the Ghadr missile, which has a range of 1,120 miles, capable of reaching Israel.
Some of the missile trucks were painted with the slogans "Down with the U.S." and "Down with Israel." The parade also featured unmanned aerial surveillance drones, torpedoes, and tanks.

While Columbia University sets up its welcoming committee for Ahmad and rolls out the red carpet the news of the Israeli’s hitting the nuclear materials site in Syria after the commando raid confirmed the Syrians were in cahoots with the North Koreans, it’s been reported several of Kim’s guys were killed, the Really Big Story wasn’t about this it was about Ahmad’s attempts to show sadness by laying a wreath at the site of 9/11.

Why do I mention Ahmad in connection to Syria? Syria is nothing more than an arm of the Iran Revolutionary Guard. There are those here in the US who believe that Iran truly needs nuclear power, that no matter what Ahmad says about how they plan to "eradicate" Israel and the Jews, that he must be essentially a "good guy" who wouldn't, couldn't lie. Could he?

Syria, Iran's puppet, has been literally caught in an effort to pry open Pandora's Box. There was a time when people knew the horrors that would be unleashed upon the world if that box were to ever be opened. Those days seem to be over. Perhaps it is because those who witnessed Hiroshima and Nagasaki are old and no longer viable to the "Progressives" who embrace and believe the likes of Ahmadinejad. The very same "Progressives" who pander to this evil little man.

A report says North Korea has trained Syrian missile engineers and the Arab nation has bartered farm products and computers for missiles from the Stalinist state. Syria has shipped cotton, food and computers to North Korea in return for buying short-range missiles, the report said.
